  • Microbrand watches offer value, unique design, and community, but the new Pacific Explorer from Coast Watch Company offers so much more! In this video, we take a look at the prototypes for their upcoming model due to be released on through a Kickstarter campaign soon.
    Ty Coast, the Danish designer of Coast Watch Company, aimed to create his dream one-watch collection here complete with a reliable Sellita movement, robust sandwich dial with beautiful brushing, and comfortable case size and shape that can dress up or down, no matter what life has in store for you. I'm hoping to pick myself up one of these fantastic timepieces when it becomes available!

    Just ordered my copper fixed Pacific Explorer today! After being pounded by Ali Express adds all week and reviewers pushing the great deals on hundred dollar clones, I decided to put my money on this micro brand called Coast. I do see these as great one-watch collection candidates and am looking forward to growing older with mine when it comes. Appreciate introducing me to the brand. Love it.

    Hey Chris, these watches look awesome.
    I'm really digging their dial choices. I love how they play with the light and how the lines go across on an angle. Kinda looks like rain blowing in off the coast (huh, see what i did there.....sorry)
    The dimensions of the case are spot on too, the short lug to lug and curved lugs are an absolute must for me personally and they've nailed it with these watches.
    Also the sellita sw200 are a great reliable movement that a lot of high end watch brands use. My sellita watches run at roughly +6 seconds a day which is pretty good for a mass produced movement
    Love your work brother ❤

      No kidding. Been about 18 mo since I last saw the 700 clams I sent them. Never got an update, never got a answer as to why they went belly up. None of the reviewers, including this one, have owned the fact that they influenced people to buy a product that never materialized and yet, their videos are still up. This video should be removed to be fair. Did you attempt to buy one too?

      @@frankquarters I’m an early backer and yes it’s annoying - but the guy got screwed over and haven’t even folded (as he could since its a kickstarter)
      I’m waiting in patience, China has been closed for like 8 out of the last 12 months, so it’s not easy and I believe in them still!
      For the website, he already send out info about that, so stop making it seem like he is shuttting down. (And he never had a CZcams channel going)

    I have seen one other review of this watch. I think this is a winner. The bracelet is great, and having drilled lugs while suppling quick release straps really sells it. This size is also awesome, and great to see a lot of style coming in smaller case sizes.

    I'd love to know the length of the strap, since many companies tend to make them on the short side. It's a beautiful sporty watch and seems very functional.

      Hi Njama ! :D ... First of all thank you for your feedback! ... I am doing the straps for the packages in an 80 x 120 mm which will fit wrists up to at least 8.5 inch, but if someone has a VERY VERY large wrist, we will have some XXL straps and any backer is welcome to write me and ask me for an upgrade to XXL :) - hope that answers your question, but you're always welcome to contact me on Instagram (that's where I can give the fastest replies) :)

    Curious if you're going to do an update on the failure of this company and their lack of communication with all of us who purchased a watch over a year ago, largely due to promising reviews such as this one. The "sold out" line of watches has never made it to their customers and there is no communication or explanation forthcoming. "Perfection takes time, But first impressions last forever," and this company will never earn the respect we all were more than willing to offer.

    Very interesting! I like the flat crystal, bi-directional bezel on the GMT and case design, specially the lugs curvature, could be a bit slimmer. That bronze bezel model is really interesting for my collection or just go for the steel bezel blackish dial.

    • @VinceDae
      @VinceDae Před 3 lety

      Bit slimmer? ... find me another watch with a sw200 movement and 200m WR that is under 12 mm ?? :p

      @coastwatchcompany9078 Před 3 lety

      Hi :) thanks for the compliments, I don't think it's possible to make a slimmer watch than 12 mm with a Sellita SW200 and 200m/660ft/60atm rating :) I haven't seen one myself :)

    "Best Microbrand Watch of 2021" 😂😂😂
    Dude, where tf did you get that "axioma"? 🙄
    ONLY 1/4 of this year's gone and we have a winner?? Doh.
    Obviously you didn't heard of Direnzo, RZE, Second Hour, Wicked Watch not to mention the Zelos.
    This review obviously sounds like a paid bias... 🤔

      @@ovidiub7316 Or maybe he actually believes what he is saying? We have worked 3 years on our product and I am (Tyler) a designer by trade, furthermore we are working in close community with brands like the ones you mentioned, so we are not some 'fresh out of the gate' brand with no experience. - we are also using premium grade materials such as ceramic ball-bearings in our bezels, X1 lume and we have an arrangement with Sellita directly (that is not something that comes overnight and not many brands have that, not even established :)
      I do appreciate the fact that you're engaging in the community, it is nice to see the passion from enthusiasts and customers. :)

      @@coastwatchcompany9078 Congratulation! The model is not my cup of tea, but I certainly can appreciate the high quality manufacture, almost perfect dimensions, and above all, the original design considering how difficult it is to reinvent the wheel in the watch world. You got the skills, the knowledge and the right attitude, so I'm looking forward to your future projects!
      ps: Have you considered an alternative design for the hands (or at least the second hand) for this model? Also, any chance you'd swap the solid bezel model dial with a gray/silver one? I imagine it would look awesome in just 2-tones, with a SS bracelet with bronze accents in the mid section. I like the all stainless steel model in particular, but the polished case (looking down directly on the dial) puts me off. You got a (not polished) dial, followed by (not polished) bezel, followed by a polished case. Could it be it might look better with a polished element (bezel) in between?

      @@andrei-cosmin.popa85 Thank you so much for all the kind words! it means a lot that you take the time even when it's not your cup of tea, that is super nice of you!
      To answer your questions :)
      Hands: no, this is the 'Pacific Explorer' handset, they are custom designed to mimic an old compass (one i had as a kid) so they mean something to me and I feel they compliment the watch / style very well - but for other models in the future, I will use (create) new styles for sure :)
      Colors: All the colors can be mixed (except the brown - that's an two tone exclusive) but all the colors grey, blue (green and red) will all be possible to choose as either fixed, 12h. or diver configurations :) - I have some pictures of the grey dial/fixed bezel on my instagram if you wanna see it :)
      And again! - thank you for all your kind words, it really mean a lot to me that you took the time! :D
