- The Z-Master has been road-tested through the 2018 concert calendar serving as Joe’s main amp on stages worldwide. The Z-Master pumps out 30 watts through its unique 3×10 speaker configuration. It uses three, 10” paper voice coil, alnico speakers in a parallel wiring configuration, specifically designed for this amp. This creates an intentional impedance mismatch between the speakers and output transformer, which is an integral part of the sonic recipe of the amp. As the first “signature series” amp in Dr. Z history, the Z-Master exhibits a wholly uncanny voice not unlike the man himself, Joe Walsh. Here's Jesse with the required riffage!

Dry wit, crisp guitar tones
It sounds amazing
Joe Walsh has long been one of my favorite guitarists, he is about 5 years my senior. In my teens I used to go see Joe's band at a few events in the NE Ohio area when he was going to college at Kent State in Akron in the late '60's. I own a Fender '57 Bandmaster tweed reissue amp, for tone it is my favorite of my 3 Fender Blackface and 2 Silverface amps. I'd love to see it compared to the Z-Master. Also, speaker selection makes a huge difference in tone.
Joe, kind of grew up in Cleveland along with the James Gang....they rehearsed 2 streets over from me. Dr Z's operation is a few miles outside of Cleveland, Maple Hts. Had the opportunity to Visage them as they have done custom amp work for me. (CAZ-45)...SOLID WELL BUILT AMPS for sure.
AH,, sookie sookie, man you got it.
This amp kills my 65' bandmaster. I was originally going to convert my 65' BF to a blonde bassman but after hearing these I'm thinking of keeping it as a bandmaster and going back to the brown/combo circuit.
Shocking how good this sounds- what pedal was that?
What’s with this guy?? Lol.
I don't understand why Joe Walsh had to go to Dr. Z to get an amp that tons of boutique builders and even just regular guys in basements have been building for years.. it's a 5E7 bandmaster, no big mystery there, and not complicated.
Hell, I could've built him one.
Yeah but you couldn't have mass-produced it and got it into major retailers for sale to the public so that Joe can get a commission off each sale
