    "And as you can see, the master volume is a dual gain, post phase inverter, master volume."
    LOL, actually, all I can see is really sexy wiring, but I have no idea what it does. Still, this amp is making me look around at my other gear to find what I will be selling to fund the purchase!

    I've had my Nova since they first arrived and I still love it. There's nothing like it and if you're on the fence about getting one, just do it. You'll be glad that you did!

    Big fan of Z amps and am looking forward to trying out the Nova! Just need to finish my electrical engineering degree first to understand Doc's portion of the video.

    I've known of Dr. Z amps for a little while, but just started watching demo videos recently. I've never wanted to/felt like I would allow myself to spend a couple Grand on an amp, but after watching this video, the one on the Z-Master and one on a Maz or two, I'm starting to see it happening. Thanks for creating such beautifully musical sounding amps!!!!

  • @aussie_philosopher8079

    I've been waiting a long time for a z amp that personally appeals to me THIS IS IT . Look and sounds amazing can't wait til we get some in AUSTRALIA

  • @aussie_philosopher8079

    This suits daves guitars and style more than any amp I've heard him play through , warm, smooth and able to get edge and dirty

    So what's with Mike Baker's Gibsons? All three are missing truss rod covers, and the 335 has an extra (cutoff?) switch on the lower bout.

  • @EvanRowsMusic
    @EvanRowsMusic Před 3 lety

    @DrZ I noticed you said the power section runs in triode. What is the purpose of the choke mounted on the chassis?

    • @DrZAmplification
      @DrZAmplification  Před 3 lety +1

      to make the the power supply recovery more efficient and smooth out the b+.

    Is fixed bias the same as cathode bias, no adjustment necessary when installing new tubes? Great sounding amp!!!

    • @JenisonShorty
      @JenisonShorty Před 5 lety +1

      No sir. You must re-bias after tube changes.

    • @josephjohnson2960
      @josephjohnson2960 Před 5 lety +2

      No. It is confusing but "fixed bias amps" have to be "biased" when changing the output tubes. Cathode biased amps, as you say, do not need to be biased when changing output tubes.

    Is it possible (without too much surgery) to modify the amp so that the effects loop is footswitchable?

    • @DrZAmplification
      @DrZAmplification  Před 5 lety

      It would involve drilling another hole in chassis to accommodate another footswitch jack.

    • @paulblanchet542
      @paulblanchet542 Před 5 lety

      Any chance of modifying it so you could use the same footswitch jack as the overdrive, and then use a two-button footswitch (i.e., for the overdrive and the loop)?

    • @DrZAmplification
      @DrZAmplification  Před 5 lety

      @@paulblanchet542 It may be possible in theory, using a TRS connector, though the NOVA loop is different than the MAZ and other Dr. Z loops as it is routed differently, so this would involve some R&D.

    • @paulblanchet542
      @paulblanchet542 Před 5 lety

      @@DrZAmplification Sounds good, thanks. Might be worth thinking about for the future. It's such a cool amp, one could potentially plug into the front end directly, then put a reverb and/or delay in the loop. You could simply use a two-button footswitch to switch the OD circuit and the loop, so you'd need nothing else on the floor. At least, that's how I would use it; I don't usually need many effects, just some OD and some ambience. Thanks for the replies!
