  • After a really great chat with Bayer Leverkusen fan and podcaster, Kevin Scheuren, in Germany last week, Will caught up with him once again ahead of Thursday's second-leg at London Stadium.
Despite defending admirably for 85 minutes in the first-leg, Leverkusen's two late goals means we have a huge mountain to climb on Thursday if we're going to secure a place in the Europa League semI-final.
Kevin said last week that Leverkusen were going to beat the crap out of West Ham in the first-leg and he was pretty much correct in his prediction. While it wasn't a thrashing by any means, their 33 shots to our one says all you need to know about how the game played out. A repeat cannot happen this week and Kevin has urged David Moyes and West Ham to be braver in their attempts to become the first team to beat Xabi Alonso's side in any competition this season, after he was surprised at our lack of effort in trying to score a goal in the first-leg.
Once again, this is a great chat with Kevin, who has been a superb guest on the podcast over the last week.
And finally, congratulations to Kevin and Bayer Leverkusen for being crowned Bundesliga champions for the first time in their history. What an unbelievable achievement!
    Come on you Irons!

This is English style at its best. Rivalry does not exclude sportsmanship. Both commentators show character. We will enjoy a great game.

Good Job Kevin, very good representation for us, I totally agree with everything you mentioned about sunday. One slight correction though, our wage bill is actually fourth highest of the League, according to fbref. Bayern of course no 1 (257 mil), Dortmund are second (126 mil), followed by Leipzig (101 mil) and we are "only" spending 64 mil. Not 100% Sure about the accuracy of fbref data but there wont most probably so much variance

Kevin is correct, it was utterly, utterly embarrassing from West Ham, I felt nothing but shame from our performance. To play football that way is appalling and we got what we thoroughly deserved. Terrible result for us but the right result for the sport of football. No wonder we find watching these games unbearable. Kevin needn’t think Leverkusen got special treatment because they are unbeaten we set up like that to Burnley at home.

Kevin is wrong about the wages. Leipzig is paying higher wages than Leverkusen. Wolfsburg and Leipzig are spending more money. So Leverkusen are 4th - 5th, financially, not third.

it's crazy that Dortmund spent more looking on the Player quality the spent it on compared to Leverkusen

By starting that we have overachieved by being 7th (as of today!) after being the 9th biggest spenders in the Prem League is easily thrown out the window when the reality is that we have one of the oldest and smallest squads in the league. We would be in an even bigger mess had Steidten & Sullivan let Moyes carry on buying even more OAP's like Mcguire
