- Winch powered trailer self unloader, when you don't have a dump trailer, this is a great option.
Badlands 12000 pound winch with badlands winch mounting plate,
two atv fairleads with mounting plates and custom rear roller.

I'm also a lawn guy and I've been designing this in my head for 6 years. I want to make it for my truck bed for pushing out grass clippings. During the heavy season I was filling up my bed twice a day and unloading it with a scoop shovel. Well... I wasn't, but my workers were. I was going to build a unit that could be taken in and out of the bed as needed. It was pretty much a three sided steel box with a floor, then a scissor style jack run off electric hydraulic linear actuators to push everything out. I priced it out once and it was way cheaper to pay my guys and buy shovels. If I ever build it, it will be purely for the fascination and enjoyment of inventing shit.
I like things to be cheap but effective. Have you seen the load handler? It's a hand crank that is basically a conveyor belt. It can unload 2000 lbs. It takes some effort but does work. I was using the load handler to unload the trailer before I came up with this winch setup. I don't know if you're using a stake body or a pickup truck. You can mount a 2000 or 3,000 lb winch to the side or back and just pulled the material right out
Nice. I'm watching a lot of similar videos and getting the best ideas from each to come up with the best solution for my particular application. Thanks.

Great job the best I have seen so far I have a 5 by 10 utility with 4 foot walls i do junk removal can you make a list of parts you used and where to purchase or a how to video. Thank you.
All the parts for the winch setup can be purchased through harbor freight, you'll have to come up with your own rear roller. I made mine out of scrap parts, I had lying around my roller is a 8 in pulley for my exmark Lazer z. I'll add a list to the description.
Brilliant setup sir!
Thank you it's a real Time saver.
I am going to take your advice and setup my 12ft x 7ft trailer like yours. This has got to be far better than a tarp on a roller setup. I think all of us would to have a little more detail on your "wall" which gets pulled behind the load to move it along. I am not sure how I would approach this. Width is obvious but height and the rest of it, not so much. Any addition tips you can offer sure would be appreciated. Great idea!

This is a couple of pictures of the wall made of scrap, that I put together in a hurry that works great.
This is a great setup. Would you please post a slower description of the mechanism and design? I need to build this.
I made a new video this year. Here's the link. I give you a good look at how the winch is mounted and everything else. You can just skip over the beginning.

@@sololawnprofessional Thank you for the reference!
Woww ... that’s what I was looking for ... a brilliant idea ... but I have no clue on how to design it ... how pls you can help me in this ? Thanks in advance
I did the same thing but I put the winch on a sled in front of the trailer
Did you mount the winch in the cargo area of the trailer or outside closer to the truck. I didn't show it in the video, the winch directly underneath the cargo area between the frame rails
Can you explain how you install the winch in the wall and what parts you use
The winch is mounted between the frame rails and all the parts are in the description. I have another video called false wall for trailer unloader and a link is in the comment section above.
Does this use a “sled” on the back that the cable attaches to?
I just use a wall made out of deck boards and 2x4s, I have the cable hook attached to some threaded eye bolts, I use some steel flat bar on the other side of the wood so the bolts don't pull through.
@@sololawnprofessional good to know, thank you!
what do you use to charge the battery? does it need to be plugged into something to dump or can you get a dump cycle off just the battery alone?
Thanks for watching my video. I'm running a group 24 deep cycle battery and I can unload the trailer a maximum of three times per charge and I just use a regular battery charger plugged into the house to charge the battery. I don't have an attached to the truck setup or anything like that. I tried using a solar panel to keep it charged but it was not effective.
@@sololawnprofessional thank you for the quick reply. i have the same winch as you i used it once with not a lot of guides for the cable and it messed up the metal on my trailer a bit especially at the gate where its path changes so im definitely going to use the mower pulley idea once i find a way to mount it. Also going to get another rolling fairlead but im having trouble finding them sold seperately. i used it for compressed leaves that filled a 7x10x6 foot high trailer and it def had the power from the winch but keeping it running was a struggle. i have it tapped into my truck battery as of now but the winch ran out of power a few times
I'm just using two ATV fairleads and not the large one that came with the winch. I had no room for it under the trailer. The most important part of this setup is the rear roller. I created the mount for the rear roller. The first time I took out the first generation of the mount it just completely folded in half with a completely full trailer load of wood.

@@sololawnprofessional yes now i didnt have anything at the rear and it bent the angle iron of the trailer. brainstorming now about ways to get the winch rope up from underneath. do you remember which deep cycle charger you had? going to get that and the battery today
amzn.to/3Hv8xY5 sorry for the delay. This is one have it has all the bills and whistles as a digital readout of the level, which is pretty much the most important thing when it comes to using the winch 14.4 volts for a full charge, not 12
u didnt actually show the inside of the trailor
Thanks for watching my video.
