The cellist from Simply three uses this cello sometimes and he shows it with the strap if you want to see it in action. I think their bassist also uses the bass version as well.
Okay, I might be a little biased because I love the NS designs. Cello I have the frame strap system and can move around. I love it. However, the tripod is not tall enough for a relatively tall person to play standing up. Do still love the tripod but you almost have to get used to putting pressure against the back of the cello to keep it from tipping over when you're playing seated. So it would probably be more prone to tipping when you're standing in playing with the tripod. However, I really love the cello. I've had mine for well month and a half and played in front of people twice with it and I've only been learning cello for about 5 months. It's wonderful! I got the five string just for the extra low f so I can play a little bass
I played this same model cello in concert where i had to switch from my regular cello to this electric cello back to my regular cello because i played a solo on the electric one, but we didnt have the endpin stand and it was so disorienting 🤣
I owned an NS and for over a year they were out of stock on the endpin stand so I sold it. It should just come standard instead of as an extra 400 dollar purchase
You'd need to build a cambered version of the pickup, it's too flat for a cello as is (middle strings would be too far away) But I also would like to hear this tone
I want to try one with a tripod ! If it is sturdy enough you can get way more speed out of your action I think ... smoother playing (or faster if you want)
It feels like the necessity of the tripod or monopod would diminish most of the returns of a small electric instrument like this, but I don’t play, so.
Here's the good news. We've got a 30 day return policy. Get one and try it. If it's not what you hoped it would be, send it back. I've got a lot of hope, though. Bakithi Kumalo likes them... (If you don't know, google the man...)
I have played the cello for a long time and I really want one of these, sadly I’m in high school and don’t have a job, nor 5000 dollars just lying around :(.
@@drlnielsen you'll get a more detailed answer if you frame your question as "how do electric acoustic/piezo pickups work?" It's an interesting can of worms, and the same rules apply to both solidbody and hollow acoustic instruments
highly recommend the endpin stand, feels much better than the tripod due to the familiar reference points!
shoulder strap on a cello sounds so cool!!! would love to see that in action one day
Check out simply three, they use both the cello and bass in some of their CZcams videos.
Check out Shana Tucker or Greg Byers.
@@ElectricViolinShop you may not have heard of him, but also Danny Kenyon of The Dead South
Check out rushad eggleston and joy from Big Richard
Look at the happy fits live performances, their cellist Calvin Langman uses one
“I don’t play” 😂 brilliant
Just turn it to one side, and cello, you got a bass.
i love jack black

I’m convinced Danny Carey just got bored with drums and opened up a stringed instrument shop at this point

Love it!! I have an NS cello and would like to get the shoulder strap!!
love this content, thank you for making it.
I can't wait til I get one of these. :)
I’d like to see a one of those cellos with Brian May’s pickup system just like he has on his red special

Calvin langman of the happy fits often used a shoulder strapped cello when performing
the tripod looks like a nightmare to try to use
People who've used them generally have favorable reviews. It's definitely different.
We need to petition to call the second attachment shown a Cell-bone.
Since you can play fiddle you can play cello. The finger stretch is a bit larger but you could quickly figure it out
Nope. The bow is coming at the strings from the wrong side. My brain will not process the string crossings.
Very cool video
You're very respectful to cellists for not playing..I would've done a walking bass line
I want to try one with a tripod ! If it is sturdy enough you can get way more speed out of your action I think ... smoother playing (or faster if you want)
This makes me realize that we as humans are creatures of habit, and maybe I am not taking advantage of that enough.
Now I want one 🤣
I have similar shirt like the one u wearing... But yours looks better

So the tripod collapses and fits in a pouch in the gig bag that comes with the NS. So that's pretty cool.
I’m thinking of getting an ns bass, but I’m scared it’s not gonna be all I hoped for

I'm fine with a good old wood one.
what? I've never been more confused in my life
What are the dots on the fritboard? Or the finger placements? Or something else
I have played the cello for a long time and I really want one of these, sadly I’m in high school and don’t have a job, nor 5000 dollars just lying around :(.
Seems easier to just make it normal shaped
I play cello and seeing the cello on your "right" side put me off lol
Ik it was probably just a flipped screen but it was odd at first haha
Is this a cheaper alternative to regular cellos?
Which pedal is the best?
Just give me an Acoustic Cello with a plugin for a chord, and I'll be complete fine
I want one of those NS Designs 5 strings Upright bass. So fucking bad.
touched. This guy seen what Les Claypool does?
As a bass guitar player, i feel unrealistically confident that i could learn to play Cello
As a violinist, I felt that way, too... And then I tried it. lol
@@ElectricViolinShop it's that unfounded manly confidence in us lol
I'm in the opposite situation. Cellist of 5 years, want to learn the bass guitar. It seems like it would be a hell of a lot easier.
@@wafflesaucey wait, which did you think would be easier?
@@noahvanderwyst1232 bass guitar by miles.
4 string normal voilin
I wanna play it like a guitar
"pull up the paul gilbert double bass video"
Can you play it like a bass guitar like Danny Kenyon of the Dead South does? ......... =^>
Is there any 7 string Cello with one higher E and lower F and Bb?
Not that I know of. Six strings is the most I've seen.
Bruh, that's just smal up right bass.
How does an electric string instrument create the resonant sound of an acoustic?
Same way an electric guitar creates the resonant sound of an acoustic. It doesn't. They're two different instruments.

You sound like Sebastian Bach
If only that were true when I was singing...
do you have a bass
www.electricviolinshop.com/upright-basses.html
So the idea is to… buy extra attachments so it’s like a regular cello
That is the most stupid thing ever. Why don’t they just provide a proper cello spike and stopper
That cello is so sacrilegious its nit even funny
Umm...SAY WHAT!? Nobody's gonna buy these useless violins! 😂🎉😮
Great comment friend! I agree! 😂❤
Amazing comment I must say! 😅
Gah! Right you are friendo! 😂❤
Have an AMAZING day pal! ❤
AMAZING comment! 😂
why the hell do u paint ur fingernails?
it's basically a bass now lol
