- Back sometime in 2009 I caught a loaded BNSF coal train coming off the Valley Sub and an empty from Texas coming off the Angora Sub at Northport, NE both heading north up the Angora Sub towards Alliance, NE. Angora Hill starts here, so while the load has the early advantage, the empty clearly looks like it'll win the race. The ending is very well-timed.
Great shots, and a fantastic view of something we folks, back East, can only dream of, and get to see on CZcams. In fact. The nearest railroad to where I am is a two hour drive. Thanks for sharing it.
Thanks airing and sharing the outstanding video with magnificent locomotives. Your endeavors are prominent. Bliss
One of those videos that reminds you why you like watching trains.
Great scene. I envy you.
Perfect catch! Excellent. The empty having been the slower at first, but by the end accelerated to passing the loaded one. And imagine, a competition to see who can be the first OUT of Northport, NE?!
The drumming roar of the engines...
I thought the two head ends coming together was cool, then I saw all the dpus coming together: awesome.
The rear locos caught up just as they passed your camera, great!
Right away this one is going up near the top of my "Favorite Meets" file. Awesome video!
If they could take off and fly they would look like a pair of dragons.
That's a neat location that I've never seen before. Really nice timing on that one too. 6 units on an empty coal train -- must be a power shuffle. Here's a little trick that I learned to help your video look better, type yt:stretch=16:9 into the "Tags" section and it should take away the borders on the right and left of the video and it'll look less compressed. I have to do that with my videos too. They're much better looking now.
Nice double lash-up
That is just pretty darn cool! good catch!
I just tried that and it worked! Thanks for the tip, I had no idea you could do that! I'll have to fix all my "old" videos on here.
9/10 needs more executive MAC’s lol. Love the video! Amazing shot of the tracks
Been there , it's a very good place to Railfan
That is just pretty darn cool.
Mike
That's a lot of coal hoppers!
+bkriegel95 Plus there is a third coal train that you can see in the distance at about 1:42. Also they both have pusher engines..
Excellent camera work!
Super video
Straight Outta Northport
You're welcome. Yeah, I got frustrated enough by the problem with my videos that I sought out how to fix it. Luckily it was a pretty easy solution.
This race is on
Awesome catch.
6 engines versus 6. How many cars? How much weight per car? At a given RPM the unloaded freight has to win given enough distance.
Very cool
Awesome video is great!!!
Nice catch....
THAT'S A HUGE CATTLE FEED LOT ALSO
was the train evenly powered, loaded and all that good stuff, looks like the train on the right had more power then the one on the left to me
Wide open spaces!
Nice Stuff Man
eso videos son de lo mejor
And the winner is👀🤣
that realy cool
The Up kinda crashed the party lol !!
Qual é este país?
I'm waiting for the load of coal to literally BREAK THE BACKS the diesels pulling them, the brutal load causing the GEVOs and SD70's pulling them to stall such they can't even spin the wheels, their driving axles just locked stationary and dangerously overloaded traction motors.
Watched this twice, looking for the situation you're describing. But I'm really not sure I can tell where/when this is occurring, and what you see and/or hear to indicate it?? I'd love to know. Thanks!
Said it in a rhetorical sense. XDD I know it doesn't happen, I'd just love to see such a thing happen in person, see the current most powerful class of six-motor locomotives get overloaded and stalled, no wheelslip, wheels can't even turn even putting out 100% tractive effort.
Go that! Thanks. It is one hell of a load, and by the sound the engines are running at something close to full strain. It would be cool to see!
