Carp Fishing France: Fishing for big carp in small estates lakes

  • My April 2020 video blog filmed at Beausoleil. I go through my whole fishing approach for the spring with the mono D rig, barbless hooks and a new running lead system.
    In this special spring carp fishing session, I’m fishing with an old school rig, the mono D rig. It’s a classic example of a simple rig that’s easy to tie but one I’ve never fished with at Beausoleil. I’m also trying out barbless hooks and develop a new running lead system that gives me bite indication with swivel leads.
    For this session, I’m not using my bait boat as I usually do. I’m using the rowing boat to get my rig in place just where I want it. The lake has a very complicated bottom with holes and plateaus created by the carp and I get in the rowing boat with a prodding stick to find the polished spots.
    Beausoleil French Carp and Cats is an exclusive carp and catfish fishing holiday venue in Northern France where you can fish for big carp and monster catfish in your own private 4 acre fishing lake. With exclusive use of the lake and accommodation, this stunning fishing venue is perfect for couples, families and groups of 4 anglers.

    Hi Matt, thanks for the video, finding it hard this week because we are supposed to be there. Was looking at the weather in France yesterday thinking about what we missing.
    The place looks amazing and so do the fish.
    I can't wait for next Easter, hopefully all will be back to normal then.

    One thing I've been trying ( more so at nights when you're all relaxed in ya pit) is if getting lots of liners ill take the time to reset my lines but a wrap shorter, it's worked so far far less liners & more positive takes,im a barbless man anyway as I just feel its has cleaner penetrative power and stay in contact with the fish you won't loose fish as a result- my pet hate is catching a stunning fish only to see damage when on the bank, have confidence in you're ability ( I feel ive achieved more with a barbless if that makes sense) , ive also incorporated you're lil trick with the tail rubber so you know was it a take or not,thank you Matthew - hoping to visit you in 2022 for a week or 2 if you have a slot available for a single angler when a group booking is short ( ill drop you a email very soon ).
    I not a big water angler I prefer the 4-5 acre waters but here ( UK) as you know they pack somany pegs on , just had a good session on furnace lakes ( Surrey) had 9 carp in 48 hours but im going back to fish kiln as that lake * they have 6* had far more cats....thank you for all you do for the sport I love,stay safe & tight lines 🎣

      @matthewcollinsangler  Před 2 lety

      Hi Lee, very nice to hear from you as always. I’m glad that you like the tell tale trick. It’s a really useful edge. I like your idea of dropping a wrap short if you’re getting a load of liners but not proper takes. That’s not something I’ve been brave enough to do lol. It’s really cool that you’d like to come and visit us but we only rent out Beausoleil on an exclusive hire basis only. We never get involved with putting groups together and we don’t sell individual spaces. The minimum number we accept as a group is two people up to four. We often have one angler and a girlfriend or wife or 2 couples. The gite is lovely (we live there all winter). Happy wife, happy life etc. We have very little available for 2022, you’d have to be looking at 2023 now to get a week at a productive time of year ideally. If you can put a party together then we’d love to hear from you. All the best for now and keep chasing those scaly beasts! Cheers, Matt.

    Always great videos Matt. Can you do one with a couple of rigs? Your previous ones were always well received. Would like to see how you construct that mono D rig and I’m always interested in what components you use.
    I’m going to stop using leaders this year, going back to tubing.
    Tackle companies have got people buying all sorts of crap that they don’t need.

      🙏 to that Angling Amigo, I really cannot wait, I recently mentioned how a lake I used to be taken to as a child (70s) I had to stop going because of the fish care was non existent & catching them actually made you sad the state of them due to angling abuse & lack of knowledge care & anyone giving a monkeys ( be ground of youngsters night fishing and come tge Sunday it would look like a festival had taken place, was terrible to see, well I've just read its being closed down end of May as a new owner had purchased it, cancelled the contract with the club using the water too, can only hope the new owner is going to put the live back into it it missed tge last 14 years of the previous owners, im going to contact them & see if that being so ill grab a few of the lads get some man power to help Eric fences place bins whatever needs doing, I would so live to see this water returned to the water it once was so in 39-40 years people can also.look back with found memories of being taken as a child & it having such great memories 👍

    How would you go about getting a "proper" jewellers loupe?
    I have the one that comes with the Jag set, is that good enough.
    I really appreciate the advice in these videos as it seems to be just that, rather than the adverts so common on youtube

    • @matthewcollinsangler
      @matthewcollinsangler  Před rokem

      Hi mate, I used the Jag loupe and it's OK to start with. You can spend a lot of money on a jeweller's loupe, I’d say a good one starts at £40/£50. You want a 10x magnification. Avoid anything labelled as Triplex 20x, it doesn’t mean 20x magnification! For the last few years I’ve used the Nash eye glass with built in LED. It’s bright and clear and the light is useful. Thanks for the support. Cheers, Matt

    Are those big pit reels on such a small vanue? Im trying to decide to get big or mini big pitters....

    • @matthewcollinsangler
      @matthewcollinsangler  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi mate, I use big pit reels as I use them for a range of different waters from small to massive. If you are only ever going to fish small waters then medium pit reels make sense. In an ideal world I’d have both sizes of course and swap between the two. Big pit reels certainly don’t hinder my fishing on small lakes so if you need a one size fits all solution then big pit reels are the way to go IMO. Hope that helps. Cheers, Matt.

    • @matthewcollinsangler
      @matthewcollinsangler  Před 2 lety

      @@Moicc If you're just starting out then I would recommend checking out the Nash BP range of reels. The smallest is the BP 4 (baby pit), I've just got one of these for my Nash 6ft sawn off. After years of using top end reels like the Shimano ultegra ci4s I was expecting to be disappointed but not a bit of it. They run smooth as silk with a very nice clutch. Okay sure the line lay isn't in the same class but that's more esthetic than functional unless you're trying to go from 120 yards to 140 yards casting distance lol. They do a BP 6, 10 and a 12 and they are very competitively priced so your budget might go further than you think. The BP 10s will cover most situations. Best of luck and I hope you enjoy the rest of the channel. Matt.
