Windless Chimes You Can Build

There may be times when you want a set of chimes in a windless environment, or even outdoors in a low wind environment like a heavily wood area. Using an electromagnet to repel a high intensity magnet at the end of the striker rod can provide you with endless possibilities. Typically named chaos engine, this arrangement can produce a random movement for the striker. Powered by either 120 VAC or a 12 VDC solar charged battery, the electromagnet is controlled by a circuit board with an adjustable strike rate. You can design your individual set of windless chimes using components purchased from Sonntag Creations (sonntagcreations.wordpress.com/) formerly Newton's Flying Magnets. Or you can email Roger Sonntag at sonntagcreations@gmail.com or call him at 585-615-4236. - Věda a technologie
You never cease to amaze me, Lee. :)
your awesome! thank you for figuring all this out and sharing your experience with us
Jeff baker led me to your site ,I really like the sounds from the thin walled brushed aluminum chimes great info thanks
Hi Uncle Lee! Great video
This could be a fun thing to do as an Elementary School Science Fair experiment. "Can you make a wind-less wind chime?" Thanks for the idea!
You're welcome. And, if you wanted to add slightly more intrigue to the puzzle you could introduce the chaos engine theory. Roger Sonntag from Newton’s Flying Magnets uses a chaos engine to pulse the coil based on the chaos theory. I realize this may be a bit much for elementary level but it might be appropriate for later grades.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge
You're most welcome.
The golden ones sustain fairy sounds
Appreciate your effort and time.
You're most welcome!
Where'd you get the hard temper alum tubes for the last set up? They sound superb! Can you tell me the specs.? What notes are they? Are the pentatonic? PS your website is fantastic!
Eric Brown Thanks, glad the site has been helpful. The last set of tubing in this video is 6061 aluminum, OD= 1.5" Wall = 1/16". This was an evaluation set from John Meloy at the Wind Chime Kit Co. Agree, they have a good sustain time and sound great. I recall John having some difficulty acquiring that particular tubing, not sure where he purchased. Not sure about the tuning, best to ask John about that: Check his site for tuning selections. windchimekitcompany.com/index.html
Leland Hite Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it! I'll check out his site. Thanks again!
Hi can we used for avoid pigeon from fields ?? Plz help me
Great idea . without air uses. Working a wind chimes nicely .on botaum use a heigh power neodeyeum magnet. is my idea. Love you from India
Hi
How are you?
Its a long time you post this video
Hope y still healty :))
You know how to fix a buzzing tube?
Have 65 inch windchime
Somethimes when the clapper hit the tube , he make a buzzing noise , i think from the string
Good question, if the tube is cracked it can buzz or if something is touching the tube a buzz can occur. Also, is the clapper cracked and making the buzz or just the tube? Can you tell which tube is buzzing?
@@LeeHiteVideo hi , thnx for your reply!!!
Its one year old brand :Corinthiam bells and size 65 inch
The smallest tube make noise
I don't see a crack or anything like that, I've stretched the string from the buzzing tube a bit, and now i hear less time buzzing noise
do you recognize this isseu?
Thnx !
I can't find the company Newton's flying magnets can you provide a link
Thanks for the heads-up. I can't find it either and have placed a call into Roger. I'll post here when I learn where he moved to.
Lee Hite thanks Lee I look forward to your response. Are the componets something that could be purchased at RaidoShack? just wondering.
Roger has moved his site to Sonntag Creations (sonntagcreations.wordpress.com/) formerly Newton's Flying Magnets. Or you can email Roger Sonntag at genscien@localnet.com or call him at 585-319-6093.
Are the components something that could be purchased at Raido Shack? Probably if you had the schematic for a 555 timer circuit that would drive a coil. Roger has these made up and it's probably easier to just buy the ckt board and coil from him.
Dear Sir
Thank you very much
Kindly tell the name of site from where we can purchase pipes
Here are a few suggestions leehite.org/Chimes.htm#Choice_of_metal
