They are a small town police force who haven't had to deal with anything like this before. I agree they should be extremely careful about what they say, but when they are extremely careful, people get angry with them. I can see how one or more person may mistakenly give information that they shouldn't because of people badgering them for more and more info instead of leaving them alone and letting them do their investigation. They are doing the best they can.

As a Mom who lost her 34 yr. old child, my heart breaks for these families. Their babies died in such a horrific way...they will move on with life but will be forever changed. Heartfelt condolences.

I saw footage of the man in charge crying, which is never a good sign. You have to be able to put emotions on the back burner in cases like this! They've botched it.
This is a small town. They are not like big city police who have years and years of working homicides just as brutal as these were. They haven't been hardened by horrific crimes enough to "put their emotions aside." IMO it's better that they ARE emotional because they are MORE motivated to solve the case and find the piece of crap monster who did this to those students. And seriously, do you think YOU wouldn't cry if YOU had to walk in on something as awful as that? Have a heart and give them a break.

If it is true that it was the house that was targeted and not a person, then this was a serial killer. I said from the very beginning that I didn’t think the roommates were targeted personally, and I’m definitely no expert, but I’ve also said from the beginning that this case has serial killer written all over it. Just my opinion. I also do think the animal killings just prior to this and in the same area was done by the same person. And I’m not talking about just the dog, there was a rabbit too that was skinned with it’s ears cut off about a week before the dog was killed according to the dog owner.
I don't think that makes sense because 2 of the 6 people there that night were left alive (thank goodness).

The biggest mystery in this case is that the reward for information leading to whoever did this STILL sits at ZERO.

It's no doubt a big case in a small town, but this is just cringe-worthy now. The local PD need to just let the FBI have full rein on it. Praying that they catch whoever slayed these 4 young people 🙏🏻🇬🇧
The FBI does not have any jurisdiction to take over this investigation. The crime of murder is a state offense, not a federal offense. The role of the FBI in this investigation is to provide assistance, support and resources.

They haven't had a murder there in 7 years. They have many long time residents and lots of college students. The party house has probably been around for a while too. So, what's different? One of the victims recently broke up with her bf and 4 people ended up dead. Look closer at the ex-bf Jack.

They obviously have some information confirming this was a targeted attack, which makes complete sense to me because there (thankfully) were 2 students who hadn't been killed. If it was a targeted attack, then it makes sense that the killer wouldn't necessarily be a threat to the community. The killer was after 4 students, specifically, so the killer wouldn't likely be going after anyone else. But, a killer on the loose who may still have his weapon with him IS a potential threat because if he is confronted and still has his weapon, he obviously would try hurting or killing anyone who confronted him. This makes perfect sense.

What about their electronic devices? I can have lunch with someone and a topic that person talked about at lunch will come up as a video on YT a day or two later. Cell phones, computers, Alexa, Tic toc, etc. are always listening, analyzing and bringing up videos/songs/ads based on what they pick up. I don't know if this is stored anywhere, but there may be clues based on what these devices may have picked up during the attack.

You have a good point. One time my friend was talking about Dominos pizza and the next day a video about dominos pizza came up on my YT feed, and we also watched a video on her phone that showed up on mine the next day. Technology is wack. But, they've probably been looking through the electronic devices from Day 1, and they'll keep going over it until something clicks or nothing comes up.

This was a trained killer! Who else could knife to death 4 individuals in consecutive rooms 2 of whom were in the same bed without any significant sound or resistance. Let alone the consentration, determination, and ability to execute maintained over the course of 4 separate murders during a very short time. None of these interviewers are even mentioning this aspect. Come on people, let's start talking about this aspect and profiling the killer accordingly.

Whoever did this is highly experienced in one form or another of eliminating people or animals. I once knew a person who eliminated a large animal on his property, leaving not one shred of evidence. (Much larger than a dog.) When questioned the following day, his response about the animals disappearance was, "I don't know." Yes, he was a dangerous individual. The police were afraid of him.

My guess is they are waiting for more evidence to arrest him, but don't want to do anything to spook him such that he could destroy important evidence - such as his computer - or lam it...??

Very true - just saying that he doesn't have someone else to corroborate his story. Certainly some people won't have another person, video, etc. to validate their story, but it also means that the person can't be dismissed outright, as others could....

This case is way too big for this department, it should have been handed over to the fbi right away. Valuable time and clues are being wasted, maybe were even overlooked at the initial crime scene
The FBI has been working the case from the start as well as the State Police.
On the Internet sleuth CZcams show Surviving Survivor, a former FBI agent & USN diver stated the killer may have been Kaylee's dad out to get the roommates and not expecting Kaylee herself to be there since her stuff had been moved out.
So he killed Kaylee not knowing it was Kaylee.

I personally believe there are ego trips leading to miscommunication here. I saw the DC detective put the local cops on blast in the first week of this and I thought, uh oh. Who's actually in charge here? If everyone is in charge, no one is in charge and that is precisely why I've been reaching out to 4 different resources on this. I think the main tip line is overwhelmed.

The fact the two blonds were killed in the bed together tells it all. One of them were clearly the target, I’m guessing Kaylee. Ethan woke up after hearing the attack and he was killed next, hence why he was found outside the bedroom. Xana was killed next as the killer felt he had to get rid of her too. But the killer went upstairs first so this clearly was targeted, otherwise it would have been Ethan and Xana dead together in the same room.

I would have to say that they have NO EVIDENCE OF ANYTHING. This was random or the other two roommates would also be dead. This was someone who had no apparent clue as to how many people lived there or anything else. They need to stop talking because they are only making matters worse. These four deserve justice but I do not believe that the Moscow Police are capable of delivering it. I think they are inept or there would be real progress in the investigation.

The mayor, university used incorrect terms 1st day, "crime of passion", compounded by cops glibly announcing "targeted atrack" without really knowing, rather just calming the community. Seems like a lot less "lingo" use would have been clearer for all. E.g. "it was a passionate crime" means way different than crime of passion.

4 people knifed to death in their sleep in an otherwise sleepy community. Police initially communicate that it's a targeted event and the community is not at risk, with no community reward offered to catch the killer(s). A parent of one of the victim's is in jail on serious drug-related charges, and perhaps one or several of the victims knew too much information about these charges, either voluntarily or involuntarily.
To me, this just seems like a cartel/drug related hit that included one or several assailants coming in from out-of-town, and then all known occupants of the house were viciously murdered to ensure that they got the correct person. The two surviving roommates simply lived because the assailants did not know they were there. "Cartel" assailants then vanish into the night never to be seen or heard from again. If so, perhaps someone related to one of the Mexican cartels currently incarcerated in an Idaho maximum security prison knows something?
