London is known as one of the world's biggest financial centers, and the Bank area is arguably the heart of it. Located in the City of London, the Bank area is home to several financial institutions and trading floors that are vital to the global economy.
The Bank of England is arguably the most well-known institution in the Bank area. It is responsible for maintaining the stability and integrity of the UK’s financial system. Founded in 1694, the Bank of England is the central bank of the United Kingdom and the model for many other central banks around the world.
The London Stock Exchange (LSE) is another significant landmark in the Bank area. Founded in 1801, the LSE is one of the oldest stock exchanges in the world and has a long tradition of listing international companies. It is a key player in the global financial markets and has a wide range of products, including equities, fixed income, and derivatives.
The Bank area is also home to many international banks and financial institutions' headquarters, such as Barclays, HSBC, and Citigroup. These institutions have a significant presence in the global financial markets and play a vital role in London's economy.
In addition to the financial institutions, the Bank area is also home to many historic landmarks. The Royal Exchange building, which dates back to the 16th century, was once the center of international trade. Today, it houses luxury shops and restaurants.
Another notable landmark in the Bank area is the Mansion House, the official residence of the Lord Mayor of London. Built in the mid-18th century, the Mansion House is a grand example of Georgian architecture.
In conclusion, the Bank area is the financial hub of London, and many consider it to be the financial capital of the world. Its origins date back centuries, and it continues to be a vital part of the global economy. From the Bank of England to the London Stock Exchange and the many financial institutions in between, the Bank area is the place to be for anyone looking to make their mark in the world of finance.

Great video. I love that area too. We once stayed at the Marriott on Threadneedles Street. As you say, the contrast between old and new in The City makes for a visually interesting scene. There are now 3 more free viewing places besides the original Sky Garden at 20 Fenchurch - The Lookout at 8 Bishopsgate, Horizon 22 at 22 Bishopsgate, and The Garden at 120 Fenchurch which we visited in early May when all the wisteria were blooming.

That must have been lovely during the wisteria season. I haven't been to any lookout spots yet but i will keep it in mind for next time, thank you!!

This was so fun to watch! We have eaten at that Fortnum and Mason café in the Royal Exchange building... and at the Pizza Express in Leadenhall market... and a couple weeks ago when we were leaving London we almost ate at the Duck and Waffle! After seeing your meal, I wish we had gone there!
