NOBODY will sit the iron throne. The guy who plays Jaime apparently agrees. But I've been calling that for years; the whole "who will sit the Iron Throne" question is a fucking red herring. NOBODY WILL. In fact I predict Cersei in realizing she's going to lose the throne/city anyway just decides to blow it all up. "If I can't have it, noone can" sort of thing. And I do think Jaime will die along with her shortly thereafter. Maybe/probably this season.
July 15, 2017 (the day before the premiere) just in case people try to say I changed it after the fact lol. I really do believe nobody is gonna win the Game. I think that's the entire point all along.

George RR Martin said it will be a bittersweet ending. My take on is that a lot of our favorite characters, some that given logical storytelling dynamics would otherwise never reasonably die (like Arya for instance) will die in the end anyway. Jaime I think will die, too. I wouldn't even be shocked if Jon Snow died again, or if Dany died. I wouldn't be shocked if at least one, maybe two, maybe all three dragons dies before the end. There's going to be a lot of death, some we're going to cheer for, some we're going to want to throw our remotes for. But the one thing I will agree with Juan about is that once the dust and smoke settles, everything probably WILL be Okay again. All the evil will have been vanquished, and all the horror that Jaime and Cersei's twincest and the civil war that sprang up in it's wake will have been eradicated. That's the sweet part. The bitter part though is that the entire world will be in shambles. All the people who were vying for the throne will realize that at the end of the day, because they fought so brutally for it, the irony will be that in their destructive efforts at the end of the day _there will be nothing left to rule, period_. If Jon Snow does live, I could see him basically being handed the Iron Throne and him saying "you know what? Forget the one throne system, my first and only action as the one true king is to dissolve the Seven Kingdoms (the way it was before Aegon Targaryen) and you guys can rule over yourselves again just like the good old days. I'll be in the North, rebuilding." and with that he gallops headlong to the North so he can do just that. George RR Martin is a pacifist in real life; his works do contain a lot of violence and warfare, but just keep in mind that he himself does not believe in violence. And all the violence we've seen over the past few years has done nothing but hurt the world of Westeros. That and the ambitions of people who would have had the Iron Throne for themselves. At the end of the day, NOBODY will win because in real life George RR Martin believes that the net result of warfare is nothing but hell and destruction. His works capture that masterfully and beautifully.

As much as I don't like the Iron Throne being destroyed (btw it's another predictable outcome anyway, also a very convenient one for not answering that "question" about who sits on the throne "who wins"), I think it's still a lot preferable to having Daenerys, the most one-dimensional character throughout the entire series, on the Throne. Just lame and boring. It's a character that the writers try to force you to like her in every way possible and they just fail miserably because that's not how good writing works.
The best ending IMO would be Jon on the Iron Throne, based on the huge character development he had by a writing prospective he is the most worthy character able to claim that power, also because he's not directly after it.

You'll be surprised by the amount of people who think daenerys will go on the throne. The ones who think the throne will be destroyed is really a minority. And if someone as to be on that throne, let sansa be on it. Because of the cersei's prophecy and it would be very surprising I think
Stenthark Ringeril Dude having the 'good guy' sitting on the Iron Throne doesn't compromise the narrative structure of a story, it depends on how this event is written in the plot and how this 'good guy' gets there.
Most people today can't tell the difference between a good written ending to bad written one. Game of Thrones doesn't need to end tragically just because "tragedy for tragedy's sake" (which is a concept that should never be applied to anything). Each death moment in the series has been unique (almost) and has served to a greater purpose (for example if Renly didn't die I seriously doubt that Stannis would have attacked King's Landing so soon). You can end Game of Thrones with a happy/bittersweet ending if the writing is good and makes sense. It's all a matter of how that plot is written... you can also end game of thrones with a "bad" ending, but poorly written (majority of bad endings are badly written or don't make sense).

Nameless Hero I don't like sansa either but I think she will become a villain in the next season. And this is not because a story is logical and all of the event have a purpose that the end is good. Jon could be on that throne and I think it could be great if it's well explained by the scenario.
5:42 = I agree with Nikolaj. The Iron Throne will indeed be destroyed at the end. There will be a new monarch of The 7 Kingdoms but that new sovereign will not sit on The Iron Throne because it will be destroyed at the end & it will be at the orders of Westeros' new supreme ruler!!!
Danearys seems to be the majority favorite to rule at the end but I do not think it will be her because Danearys as Queen at the end is way way too predictable & Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice & Fire has always been UNpredictable. The person who will indeed end up as the ruler of all Westeros at the very end will be someone who has never once sought or even wanted The Iron Throne at all instead of someone like Danearys who has been entirely obsessed with taking over The 7 Kingdoms since day 1.
For me, Jon Snow will be the reluctant but honorable king of all Westeros at the end after he (Azor Ahai) & Bran (The 3-Eyed Raven) team up to defeat The Night King with Danearys sacrificing herself to help them achieve ultimate victory against The Army of The Dead. Jon will than have Rheagal destroy The Iron Throne for him since Dragon Fire is what created The Iron Throne in the 1st place so is Dragon Fire the only thing that destroy the dam thing and Jon recognizes all of the lives that have been destroyed & all of the ruthless things perpetrated by all those who were obsessed over gaining The Iron Throne so he decides to eradicate it in order to erase it's ever-corrupting influence :)

DragonHeart613 I don't think Daenerys is everyone's fans favorite, everybody knows she's terribly written (in the show at least) and extremely one-dimensional from the beginning. Always obsessed with power and Iron Throne without even managing to rule a single city.
It's just the way that they advertise her (always portrayed in thumbnails like the main character for example in many videos) that makes you think she's everyone's favorite.
In reality everyone's favorite is Jon because the majority of people love underdog stories.
Yeah Jon on the Iron Throne would be the most logical and best ending in general, by a writing and plot prospective. Daenerys it's the worst possible ending they could go with.

How many viewers could this show get on network television? For obvious reasons it would never be on network TV but if it was they'd pull close to 20 million if not more on a weekly basis. 9 million viewers for S6 - E10 on HBO and that doesn't count pirated views is crazy.

I'm going with the distruction of the Iron Throne and a council of lords in which Tyrion is one of the prominent member and Sansa the member of the North (with other survivors that represent the remained Houses). I think that the destiny of Jon Snow is to die with a sacrifice, Danerys will die in childbirth (meaning that her and Jon Snow's son could be the king in a future) or she will decide to rise her son alone in Essos, surronded by her true friends (Grey Worm, Messandei, Joraah is he will not die in sacrifice himself etc.) I'm not sure for the destiny of Jaime, but I would to see him alive and happy, after to have killed her sister.
