Side note aside from my main reply, Taylor said right before she released the Taylor’s Version of this song, to us Swifties, please don’t go after anyone who we may think this song is about (she says with a chuckle, because of course we know!!😂) because that was many years ago now that this song was written. ❤ so we mouth off in comment threads but, don’t go after him again on his socials or anything else. 😊
The guitar imitates how John Mayor plays the guitar!!! She knew what she was doing with that and is a genius!!!
When Speak Now Taylor's Version came out, she told her audience at her Eras Tour to be kind on the internet, I believe she did sing the song, she also said that she only sang and/or re-recorded it because she wanted to own her music. After what happened when she re-recorded Red, Jake received a lot of hate, so she repeated to be kind on the internet.
Yes she wanted it to be about the music and not the guys, , and it was a good choice because she knows who John is as a person and that he tried to sue her last time, and that he would definetely bash her in the media if he got hate, so she was smart to say that before releasing Speak NowTV.

It's a fantastic song lyrically but it's her delivery that nails it...
I CAN NOT, even after seeing it 1000s of time's, i just can't watch the fireworks and NOT cry. I smile like a crazy person with tears running down my face every single time. It still blows me away.
I can see why people told me to watch the live performance rather then the lyric video. Those fireworks going off right as she sings that line is something missed when watching the lyric video.

And nobody who is this good works this hard.” She is what happens when a once in a generation level talent is combined with an almost puritanical commitment to mastering the craft. I’ve said before that she is a song writer the same way Roger Federer is a tennis player. They both have the ability, in their own fields, of making the extraordinary look almost mundane.

Taylor has always blamed her self for problems or fights in her relationship’s. Even the songs allegedly about Joe her last boyfriend of 6 years she blames herself and talks about how he was a better person than her. She will eventually figure out things once she is out the relationship and can see more clearly. You just can’t see it when you’re in it!!!!!! 😢

You should check out Paper Doll by john mayer. Its clearly about Taylor, even referencez some of her lyrics. Also, the line "I'm shining like fireworks over your sad empty town" references his hometown Bridgeport, CA, and how its an ex industry town thats kinda "empty" now.
I will for sure check that out as long as all the Swifties promise not to be mad at me for listening to a John song 😅

She has played both Dear John and Would've, Could've, Should've as surprise songs. Dear John was the 1st surprise song at the June 24th song in Minneapolis. Would've, Could've, Should've was the 1st surprise song at the May 7th show in Nashville.

John did Not sue Taylor for this song or any other reason. That is a stupid rumor people started and posted that caught on, on non legit entertainment sites. I can understand how some people may believe it since crazies even put fake, ridiculous court papers online. John's fans told him he should sue. He absolutely Did Not Sue her over the song or for any other reason.
