It's a good game
You might have to wait for about a month before the brutally honest unsponsored reviews start to come out.
This is what happened with tower of fantasy. I played it, saw all the bugs and how unfinished the game was, but all I could see online were sponsored videos singing its praises.
Of course, it’s the same for every game that’s freshly released

@@thisperson8315 Yes I did briefly try the game since it's free. It's decent I guess, but also the fact that no one was talking about it and now all of a sudden every youtuber is, also every streamer only streams it during required sponsor hours and never for fun hmm, and also when you go to the app store it's sponsored on the cover page as the first game. There is clearly big marketing money behind it and honestly no shade to IWTL get your bag homey.
tbh the best part is the gearing system... you don't need to farm "relics/artefacts" to every single character
This game is almost everything QOL and generosity, from the obvious things such as low pity, ease of resource gain, and the resonance levels, to more obscure things like insta killing low level enemies and auto equipping general equipment. Playing this game makes me feel good
You do realise that, unlike genshin, you actually need extra copies of the characters to build them, right?

I'm really liking it tbh. Very easy to understand and a great casual and chill game in between your flagship ones! Do love the aesthetic and artstyle of the world itself.
Dupes is the biggest problem with AFK Arena too, and while it seems manageable in the early game it spirals out of control pretty quickly due to the exponential nature of the dupe system.
It is not free to play friendly at all past mid game, and I see Journey being exactly the same. So there is quite a bit you can enjoy without spending, but the game expects you to spend eventually or you will hit pretty significant soft wall.
I don't want to turn people away, because again its fun and there is quite a bit you can do completely free, just want people to go in knowing what to expect from someone who isn't being paid to promote the game. I played Arena since launch, though the last year or so I only check in once a week or so as I'm at a pretty hard paywall for my account.
As someone that played AFK Arena for a couple of years as a f2p yeah, you need a ton of patience when you reach endgame and I can see Journey being the same but at the same time, it has a much better presentation and some interesting new things going on gameplay wise, being more of an actual rpg this time around than a full idle. I'm still early and enjoying my time, it's fun to see the old characters in the new context and animations. Let's see how things will hold and how quick Lilith is with adjustments and updates.
I hope they make an action game with these graphics one day. Until then i'm playing this, the exploration + story mode are awesome.
i did not expect to enjoy this game as much as i did. everything about it while being a gacha game is very fun to me
Afk Arena the previous game is actually one of the best AFK games I've ever played, the collabs I managed to get (they were free btw) were amazing and the game is fun, I stopped for a simple reason, for a AFK game it was consuming a good portion of my life and it's easy to fall behind if you so much as stop for a couple of weeks, this one being in the same universe makes me want to try it out because the characters and the story are actually quite good and they have mah boy Rowan and his duck, that fella carried me hard in some stages back in the day.
when games like this come out i wonder where the wall is. Endgame could be a massive wall for all i know.
Having played Afk Arena before, I’d say the endgame, that being the pvp as far as I’m aware, is where the big wall is. At that point, you’re definitely gonna get outmatched by whales who just instantly max out every unit and have all the best gear without trying.

Also, I just tried it on my device and let me tell you, it was unpleasantly laggy. Like I do not have the time for this kind of laggy. Maybe it was the stuff that it was loading in the background, I don’t know, but I am not about to spend my time waiting for stuff to download, only for a chance of it not being too laggy to play.
Also, knowing the previous game in the Afk series, it is going to ironically be a massive time sink to play Afk Journey, is what I’m guessing.
@@AnArtistInAVoid laggy? i've played the game on Android and Windows and i've had no lag at all. Maybe you should download the whole game files which is around 2-3GB and then there will be no downloading in the background. About the time investment... you know it! But tbh you can play casually and have fun with it, no need to rush.
That's what is stopping me, I played AFK Arena for a while but now seems like the meta changes ALOT and revolves around a big ammount of copies from Celestial units, that are usually the most difficult to get. People that have play Dyslite (another game from the same company) say the same stuff... So I don't know.

Gonna get this first thing when i get my new phone, bcz my current one is 54 gb storage.
Barely able to play genshin and star rail at the same time.

you probably have auto abilities on! it's the gears icon in the bottom right during combat

I'm enjoying it. Pretty fun. It's a bit laggy and there's no facial expressions in cutscenes for me. But I love the character designs and gameplay.
This game still suffers from predatory monetization. F2p players will have to wait days on days for the game to feed you materials to level up your characters to progress.

Because you only need to level up 5 heroes and gear system is class based.
