She studied first at Lahore College for Women University, then Government College University, with further degrees from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Zehra is a professor emeritus of history at Forman Christian College and is a former principal of the Lahore College for Women University. She was a chairperson on the National Commission on the Status of Women. Zehra is a former caretaker provincial minister of Punjab. She is recognized for her knowledge on the Urdu language and literature and is specialized in intellectual history and South Asian social issues. I was born in 80s. Maloom to hamy b nahi tha but I am a Literature student with PhD in South Asian Literature. I got to read a lot about the tragedy. I have cried several times in the pain of people who saw the partition, 47 and 71 both.

I wish I could rewind my time and go back and attend dr arfas class , she took me back from usa to that Pakistan of feelings emotions that I once read in books when I was doing high school and associates back in karachi, I wish I could meet this gem of a scholar in my lifetime , wonderful show and talk , i enjoyed this time of watching the episode. Worth every second of my time.

This interview is as excellent as Part 1 of this guftugu -- rather ahead of the previous interview. Dr. Syeda is a living encyclopedia of both nations. For me she is not only belongs to Pakistan but is a universal global personality. I wish I were to meet her someday as a common person just to have her blessings and a bit of her vast reading habit. My personal regards for both learned ladies.
