#MikesBookReviews #mostanticipated #newbooks - Zábava
Hey bookworms! I know it'll come up, but I didn't include You Like it Darker by Stephen King since it is a short story collection and this was about novels. Don't worry; Sai King will get his time in the spotlight in 2024.
Mike have you ever heard or watched a tv series called gangs of London 🤔
Did you never read Holly yet? Been looking your review of it and never found it
The Cujo sequel is a novella, not a short story, but I get what you mean.
There are rumors that We Think Not (another Holly book) may come out in 2024 too
hey how do i do a read along with you??
How is Mike's approval of Sun Eater not enough? It is the push for me to read Sun-Eater! (Thank you for that!) Still so pleased you loved The Bound and the Broken that much. I totally agree with what you said. So many people told readers to be patient with The Wheel of Time, to push through the first book and the 4 big slog books! But for The Bound and the Broken and other series, sometimes it's one book a miss and goodbye. Nothing wrong with that, but some series do require 2 books to turn into something incredible! :)
It's a superb series but Wheelies get super protective over anything that has a Wheel of Time similarity.
Either of you are enough
I started reading Red Rising last week and I am finding that it's hard to put down. Mr. Brown is a pure genius. Darrow is such an interesting character. Can't really wait to get to the next book.
Pug! My man, thank you so much for the Drizzt visual companion book. I think thumbing through that is what made me start Legacy of the Drow this week.
@@mikesbookreviews Your Welcome!!!!
Holy crap a Stormlight arc 1 finale, a penultimate Sun Eater book, and a new James SA Corey series?!?! What a freakin year 2024 is gonna be-also I need to get into the Bound and the Broken yesterday
Yes, you do.
Honestly a bit relieved that Red God will be coming out in 2025. I just finished Morning Star yesterday and I think I need a few months to recover from the anxiety before diving into the next three. The last 1/2 of that book was so stressful, I feel like I aged 10 years reading it!
Does morning Star end on a cliffhanger? Or can the first trilogy be read as a complete segment?
Gets way way worse in the second trilogy haha
@@best_regards It is a closed story. I haven’t read the sequel books, but I was happy with the ending of Morning Star.
@@kingzzz6509 Thank you.
Ha ha I get that. I wish I could tell you it gets easier the rest of the way...but...well...you'll see.
2024 promises to be a great year! I hope all these reads will be excellent for you, Mike. Two big series I hope to get into in 2024 include Sun Eater and The Bound and the Broken -- in no small part thanks to you!
I think you're going to eat both of those up. Can't wait to talk to you about them!
2024 is going to be a great year for science fiction and fantasy. But it is hard for any book to compete with Disquiet Gods.
Thanks for leading the charge on Sun Eater here on CZcams, Mike. I and many others are grateful for you spreading the word!
I'm just happy Christopher is seeing real success finally.
So many great ongoing series. Looking forward to SA5 and of course more Suneater!
This is also my first time waiting for a Dresden book, need that one to come along sooner.
I need Twelve Months 12 months ago.
We might be getting Stormlight 5 and Dresden 18 on the same quarter of the year, and I WILL die of hype.
That would be something.
Excited about SA 5!
Great video as always, Mike
Loving Pillars, btw. Thanks for the rec!
I knew you'd love it!
The Bound and the Broken is awesome, thanks for revealing this series to me.
Happy you're liking it!
SAME! On almost all of these! Cheers to 2024 being better than 2023 in so many ways haha
We can only hope!!
I expect it to be a wild year!
I think it will.
I hope John Gwynne's doing OK too. Fully understand his break. Lovely guy and great family.
Enjoyed the video. Several books have caught my eye. Thanks
Hey Mike Happy Thanksgiving day enjoy your turkey and all the fixin's 😊
Listened to the Bound and the Broken because of you and now I'm reading the hardcover of book 1 too and ordered book 2. Loving it!
That's wonderful!
Great list, I’ll be reading a lot of these on release day as well!
This is the Way
I am just looking forward to knights of wind and truth.. super excited for it!
I think it'll be what I wanted SL4 to be.
Another fantastic video!!! Thank you!
Thanks for watching, homie.
Just started reading The Fall by Ryan Cahill and I literally LOVE it!! such a good recommendation, and your video was really the thing that sold it for me!
I read the novella and insta-bought the whole series. It’s good
I’ve pre ordered Empire of the Damned. I can’t wait.
My list is up and as expected there is alot of crossover with you my friend. Awesome video.
We are legion.
Awesome stuff Mike! I’m hoping to get to Suneater next year. Definitely planning to finish the Expanse.
Enjoy!
I’m halfway done with Of Darkness and Light and I’m absolutely digging it. Totally agree with you I am fully immersed in Ryan’s world. I think we’re all praying George announces Winds here soon and based on information he’s given us I think by 2026 we’ll have it😅
Winds would be a dream come true, for sure.
I plan to start Suneater next year! I will be caught up with Stormlight by end of January so that was my next big series.
Fun!
Great vids Mike, can you do a delve video in the bound and broken series by Ryan Cahill? I have been watching yours and many others videos and am entranced by it all, epheria seems so damn awesome. I love reading fantasy, but am also a young father so it will take me a while before I have the time to tackle these huge books but the content seems so cool, would love a lore/exploration vid of the story itself
Interesting way of talking about Sun Eater Series. I just started it recently and am about halfway through Howling Dark. I think i've been struggling with it because I'm thinking about it as a epic space adventure vs a character study potentially. Definitely going to keep that in mind going forward!
Looking forward to Winds of Winter, Doors of Stone, and The Thorn of Emberlain. I’m a masochist.
Ha ha never give up!
I owe you a huge debt of gratitude for introducing me to Sun Eater. Christopher Ruocchio has become a new favorite of mine: absolutely amazing story in terms of characterization, plot, and world-building, and the *prose* is sublime. Cheers!
So many good ones. Trials of Empire, Disquiet Gods, You Like It Darker, The Library Trilogy book 2.
Hope the Mark Lawrence one lives up to the hype.
Fury of the God is available for presale on Amazon UK
Many good ones coming up next year, eager for Empire of the Damned. Also need to start Empire of Silence soon
ALL OF THE EMPIRE BOOKS
For me Bloodsworn #3 Fury of the Gods🤞 and The Daughter’s War by my new favorite author, Christopher Buehlman. Also can not forget any Bound & The Broken!
I should try more by CB. I was lukewarm to Between Two Fires but not ready to write him off.
So looking forward to another Sun Eater book!!!
SAME.
I'm new to fantasy. Excited for Winds of Winter, anyone with me guys?
That book MAY come out in the next 3-4 years if we're lucky😂
Yes. 🙋🏾♀️
I got my copy of trials of empire yesterday. About 15% done this morning, and it's fantastic. My second most anticipated book. Just behind stormlight 5
Yeah, Richard sent me the ARC early but I probably can't get to it until January due to planning.
@@mikesbookreviews spoiler alert: it's great!
The Ashfire King by Chelsea Abdullah. I read The Stardust Thief this year and was blown away. Ready for book 2!
First I've heard of it.
No news of Fury yet unfortunately, Mike. Dad will be sure to update everyone when something is in the works. Truth and courage!
Ed
YES SUN EATER YES SUN EATER IS MY GO FAVORITE SERIES!! Seriously, people are who have not read EoS are truly missing out.
I read all the Stormlight books back to back and I loved every single one so I cannot wait for Book 5. Oathbringer was the only one I thought was a step down from the other books for me but it was still amazing. I agree with the comment about wanting him to just focus on Stormlight. I like his other stuff but Stormlight is clearly a step up in quality for me. Of Empires and Dust is also a must read. Of War and Ruin such an incredible book that left me floored. Also, One Piece has been absolutely incredible in the most recent arc and I cannot wait to see what Oda has in store for next year.
Also, Jenn Lyons' The Sky on Fire is coming out in July. Looking forward to that.
Really hope James Corey gets Jefferson Mays to narrate again. Love that guys narration really made The Expanse.
IM SO EXCITED FOR EOTD!!
Stormlight 5 ❤
Not to bad mouth anyone that has romance fantasy as there preferred genre, but i feel like The Bound and the Broken series, while not lacking attention, deserves the kind of respect and accolades that is being give to the media darling Fourth Wing series, what Ryan has done with this series is outstanding, the quality is a cut above the rest, and it deserves every bit of praise and recognition it can get.
I’m happy to see not too many on this list. I need 2024 to be a catch up year. I’m way behind on so many series. 😅
Ha ha I get that.
My top 2 are Empire of the Damned and The Trials of Empire.
May you have a long happy healthy life so you would read whatever books you wanr
That's always the hope.
Hey Mike, just behind your right shoulder and just below your Book Tube plaque, it looks like some kind of Dune Swag? What exactly is that and is it available for purchase? or did you get it from an author or publisher? Thanks Dude, Chanel continues to be amazing!! Have a great Thanksgiving
Next year I plan to start Suneater. This year I finally read the Expanse and First Law, which have both been on my tbr for many years. I'm interested in Cahill's series too, and most definitely Stormlight. I'm sure there's something I'm forgetting, but it's hard to keep up with new releases. That's why I watch booktube. 😁
At least we will never be able to say "I have nothing to read."
Oh please for the love of all that is holy let all these titles live up to their potential!!! 2024 is looking great so far 🤩
I think Empire of the Damned, Knights of Wind and Truth, The Tainted Cup by Robert Jackson Bennett, The Godeater saga by Rob J. Hayes, Alecto the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir, How to Become a Dark Lord and Die Trying by Django Wexler and A Sorceress Comes to Call by T. Kingfisher are my most anticipated. And of course Of Empires and Dust, Ryan never disappoints!!
Thanks for sharing your list 😁
Right? On paper this is a stacked year.
I’m rereading wheel of time after Mistborn era 1, book 3, so my 2024 might already be full 🤣🤣
Definitely Empire of the Damned for me, can’t wait. Not a lot else as there’s nothing concrete on the ongoing series that I am current with. I’m reading Of War and Ruin right now so looking forward to the continuation of The Bound and the Broken
I think fans of EOTV will really enjoy EOTD.
This will be the first time I get to be on a Stormlight book release hype train! I spent 2023 reading the series to prepare for 2024.
That's nice! I've been a waiter since Words of Radiance. It's rough.
My list is pretty much the exact same except for The Trials of Empire and Of Empires and Dust. Stormlight 5 is by far my most anticipated one and the only book that could have competed with it is Red God.
You've completely sold me on The Bound and the Broken but I'm going to do what I did with Sun Eater. When the penultimate book is only a few months away I'll give it a try.
Not a bad plan.
You should read the Alcatraz series with your kids. I read them with mine and we loved them. Probably my favorite Brandon Sanderson series besides Stormlight.
Gotta finish the Rick Riordan stuff first.
Definitely keeping up with Sun Eater. Also hoping against all hope that Scott Lynch is publishing something next year... but most of all I'm looking forward to The Navigator's Children by Tad Williams and Song of the Mysteries by Janny Wurts. I'm not caught up in either The Last King of Osten Ard or Wars of Light and Shadow, but I've got all the previous books in both series ready for binge-reading once the last volumes are out.
I know Lynch turned in his first draft like 2+ years ago. Wonder what happened.
@@mikesbookreviews According to the man himself he kept writing but developed a mental block about showing his work to other people. That's been medicated now. He even posted an excrept online last January. So any day now... any day now...
Richard Swan definitely become a must buy for me!
No doubt.
He's a great author and an even better human.
I didn't know that the expanse authors are coming out with a new book series!!👍👍👍
Yep! Going to be great.
I’m giving my husband the first three Expanse books so excited for him to read them and I’ll get to read them too.
That's the gift that keeps on giving.
Of Empires and Dust by Cahill and Book 12-14 The Wandering Inn by Pirate Aba
Mike, you’re doing the Lord’s work.
Just started Bloodsworn and Fury of the Gods in on my mind as well
Hope you're liking it!
@@mikesbookreviews it’s John Gwynne. It was awesome
As someone that just started Red Rising, the name of the book Red God is interesting 👀
Can’t wait for the new Swann and Cahill books
Gonna be a fun year!
I’d leave preparations for Petrik lol just messing, I’m gonna take on the new Series by the expanse guy. I’m happy Red God to come out 25 cause I need to read 3 more books.
I hope the third Bloodsworn comes out next year. Understandable if it doesn't. I already have Trials of Empire pre-ordered. I also hope that Evan Winters third The Burning book also is released in 2024.
Same. I want John to take as much time as he needs. But I also need a new John Gwynne book.
Most anticipated is SA5, no question, i plan to get there from Australia tbh for Dragonsteel next year im that damn pumped for it lol
Can’t wait!
Empire of the damned for me for sure
Below by Stuart Lee February 2.
But what about The Doors of Stone? (ducks and runs) But seriously, thanks for the info. I did just talk to Jim in November and Twelve Months is most likely coming out in 2025. He still hasn't finished it (although he's HOPING to by the end of the year).
Have you tried The Exhoes Saga by Phillip C Quaintrell? Very good dragon rider series.
This one is easy for me, even when i didn't like TRoW that much, my most anticipated book is Stormligth 5, i want a nice not-really-an-ending for my Stormlight story (not planning on read the era 2)
And my second one is probably Mercy of the Gods.
The thing is none of those two book will probably get published in 2024 in my country, 2025 is more likely.
If you don’t know, yuri and the nightmare painter and the sunlite man are both cosmere books that’s were very well received
I’m aware. I just did not get them yet.
Getting on a plane tomorrow morning. Can’t decide if I wanna try Ender’s Game or continue my Stephen King journey with Eyes of the Dragon
I need to get on Suneater, and Red Rising. Somehow those have passed me by. I DNFd book 4 of Stormlight. I found the stuff in the underworld or whatever it was called really tedious. Shame. I look forward to the James Corey book too. Cheers Mike. 👍
Hope you enjoy it!
I'm playing catch-up on well-recommended books, which is a fantastic problem to have. No new books on my horizon; just older goodies.
Always a good plan.
Don’t think you ever finished Ash and Sand but Richard Nell is and other great example of self pub.
I did not read book 3 but loved book 1.
I wrote a book (fiction romance) and don’t know how to share it with the world, since I self published no one will put it in the stores, and since Covid no one near me has book signings. Does anyone have any advice?
Yey new books
The payoff in Of War and Ruin was so sweet. I know the story is far from finished. But some of those beats laid in book 1 to come up in book 3 was really telling to how talented Ryan really is.
I don't think it will be out next year but I don't see people talk about Daniel Abrahams Kithamar trilogy. One half of S.A. Corey has in the first two books written some amazing fantasy in my opinion. In fact I like both books more than any of the 6 The Expanse books I have read. Age of Ash (the first in the trilogy) is in my top 5 reads of the year.
I wanted to read Long Price Quartet by DA before starting a different series.
I loved Of Blood and Fire. It really felt like Malice in a good way. Like he did Malice with a nice sprinkle of dragons and his own thing very very well. I really enjoyed The Fall - which I definitely recommend reading The Fall AFTER OF Blood and Fire, and you can see that he has really put so so much into building this world. Tomorrow I start Of Darkness and Light- and I am very excited for it.
PS Ryan if you are out there, reading random comment sections like can we please turn the events that lead up to The Fall into a prequel series? I would read the crap out of a politics heavy series exploring the Order pre-fall and how that played out.
I can see that.
Mine are
Bloodsworne 3 By John Gwynne
The Navigators Children by Tad Williams
Stormlight 5 by Brandon Sanderson
Wishful thinking
Winds of Winter by George R R Martin
Always wishful.
You Like It Darker by Sai King.
Please please please check out Invincible. The show or the comic. I think you’d love it.
In " insert Authors name here " we Trust........... Pierce Brown, Sanderson, John Gwynne, Joe Abercrombie, James SA Corey.... and besides, a good Fantasy/Sci-fi series Arrives Precisely when it means to!!
Well said.
I'm looking forward to "Empire of the Damned". Loved the first book and really looking forward to the second!
I think you'll be happy
Ties that Bind, book 13th of the Emily Slate series by Alex Sigmore comes early February and I'm just hungry for the ARC to get into my email.
Not familiar with Alex Sigmore. I'll look him up.
Just watched your video about the Eragon series from 4 years ago. Did you ever finish the series?
Unfortunately I stopped in the same spot as the first try.
@@mikesbookreviews I was curious about the series but will probably skip it myself.
I'm a horror guy and a Constant Reader, so King's new collection is at the top of the list. I'd love to get Joe Hill's next novel in 2024, but it sounds like 2025 for that one. And, once again, I'll be the annoying Ronald Malfi fan, but his next book Small Town Horror comes out in May 2024. Very excited for that one.
I'll be reading the King collection when it comes out. I just usually focus on novels for this list.
Releases I am hoping to read from your list:
Stormlight 5
Releases I am hoping to read from your list:
SunEater 6
The finale to Justice of Kings (forgot the series name)
A release not mentioned but highly anticipated for me:
The Navigator's Children by Tad Williams
Always hoping:
- Doors of Stone
- Winds of Winter
- Fire and Blood 2
Any new ASOIAF from George would be a blessing.
@@mikesbookreviews Facts. 🙏🏽
My most anticipated book was contracted for six years ago, scheduled and then removed from lists. The book is the sequel to Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman, announced as Seven Sisters. I'd love to read it when it lands.
Huh. I wonder what happened.
I think he got busy with Sandman and Good Omens TV series.@@mikesbookreviews
I had a very hard time reading Empire of Silence.. It WAS A SLOG.. and Hadrian is just a whiner. So, does it get better? Is it worth the time? When I can read Malazan quicker than Empire that says something...
I’m looking forward to the new Stephen King book in May 😍
Indeed. Much more than Holly.
Hell, Daniel Greene is gonna be doing a Sun Eater binge, he loved Empire of Silence that much. Think he put all his other projects or most of them on pause just to do one Sun Eater book and the review for that book a week in the next few weeks.
About time. I've been banging this drum for years.
Nice, 100% overlaping with my expected books. But yeah, my reading taste is 60% based on your channel soo :D
I'm flattered.
I rarely know when books are set to come out, but I think there's a Stephen King short story collection coming out in May? Besides that, I think Stormlight 5 is my only other preorder at this point.
Correct. Which I will be reading for the Cujo continuation alone.
It's been so long since I read Cujo, I doubt I'll remember much!
Red God. I'm going to hop onto Sun Eater after I catch up with RR. Yet to hop onto Gwynne.
Lots of good trips ahead of you.
@@mikesbookreviews I'll be finishing up Dune this week. I was very surprised that I like it as much as I do. I totally see the inspiration that Brown took from it. I watched the movie last night and I was blown away.
Have you not read the Mistborn books?
6 of them.
Please read some Giles Kristian, The Brother Gwynne love his work and I think you would too. “Arthur” comes out in 2024 and you should read Lancelot and Camelot
I read Lancelot. It was kind of a miss for me. But I loved Hellmouth by him.
@@mikesbookreviews I will read Hellmouth then for sure as I was skeptical before! His Raven Blood Eye trilogy is great also!
