    In this video i attempt to virginse a spare cluster and the change the dial faces to the 335is style. The tricky part ended up being getting the speedo to line up with the new marking, but go there in the end.
    335is KMH Dials Purchased here: ebay.us/Xduol1
    Software used to calibrate the speedo was called Perfekt Toolbox
    R270 Programmer (these are very hit and miss with how they work) - ebay.us/32gD31 I had to remove a yellow resistor from the sub board to get it to read.
    SOP* Connector to make it a solderless process - ebay.us/MDfocw

Its worth reading now about what you may need to do so when yours arrived you know what you will be looking for. There are about 5 or 6 different resistors that may need to be removed or changed commonly, as well as a capacitor a lot of people say needs replacing.

    @bwhobackk Před 3 lety

    As far as I know, the M3 cluster never fully works with the 335i. Don't get me wrong, it is just the shift light LEDs on the tach bezel that don't ever work despite coding because of the data available to the clusters pulled from the DMEs of the different engines. It would bug me to have those seven blank, non-functioning LED cutouts in there so want to give a heads up on that. The most useful workaround I found (through Bill at Clusters and Coding on fb) was to do some coding on the cluster and change the subdial face on the tach. Same place the cruise control setpoint marker is on the speedo side, that's what I'm talking about on the tach side. Bill installed a two color redline on mine, yellow before red and then programmed the cluster to use water temps to display a variable redline of sorts as visual reminder to take it easy as the car comes up to temp. When you first start the car, the redline is at 4k, then gradually recedes as the water temps rise. Also, if you do the white LEDs for backlighting I highly recommend researching the light output of the various SMD LEDs out there because mine were so bright, I had to find some static cling style window tint film and apply that to the clear plastic so it didn't scorch my retinas at night. There's a coding option to have the cluster backlighting on all the time and just did that on mine too. Can't tell this early in the morning here if you're kidding or not about the Parkinson's but dad's got it too if so. Yeah, you've mentioned it 3x now. Not kidding, then. -- Work looks good!

      Firstly i should address my dark humour. I don't have parkinsons and probably shouldnt joke about it. But on the flip side i genuinely shake like do. Always have, its bloody annoying when trying to solder or even hold a cup of coffee. Anyway, you are spot on about the M3 clusters and shift lights. I did see one guy that used an aftermarket shift light circuit board and wired that in to the LEDs on the M3 cluster to get them working. Not sure if im that keen. I'll probably just get a manual M3 cluster and use that. In the mean time, i am more keen to get the LEDs in this one changed to white.

      The data is in the cas module and the cluster. The cluster feeds off the cas, so cluster will always update to whatever the cas module has stored. But the second you connect a cas to a cluster and the milage is different you will get a tamper dot, before the cluster adjusts up. Oh also if you put a cluster in that is higher than the cas module, it wont adjust down you will just get a tamper dot.

      @@PtcjNoble It’s a funny thing, in some way similar to taking a picture with one of your favorite race car drivers, pro athlete, or anyone your a fan of.
      Maybe 30 years from now I’d show my kids the photo and it would be cool, or maybe my kid gets a N54 car from some yard in Australia, finds this content and sees I was “here”.
      This is the only channel that I actually await new vids from, so in a way they have created a “space” where we share in their activities. Within that space, if it had walls, “first”ing would be like having a favorite seat or writing your name on the wall; it will be there till the lights go out.
      I hadn’t considered it till you brought it up.
      Now I’m probably first to give this type of explanation for the “first” thing, lol.
