有人罵太夫人眼盲心盲, 也有人罵她守舊教條, 其實她這就是女王蜂症狀, 是一種人性問題, 不是她的個性問題也不是時代問題, 現在在家中在職場所在多有. 在職場一個女老闆身邊女員工通常都是只有聽話的乖乖牌, 在家中就是典型的婆媳問題, 爭的是掌控權. 侯爺年輕時在外征戰復興家門時, 想必家裡都是太夫人做主, 太夫人自然覺得她才是家中內宅真正的主人. 所以侯爺越表現的愛十一娘, 順著十一娘, 太夫人就越想要強調掌控權. 想必當初元娘當主母那段時間也是經歷過的, 而元娘要和太夫人鬥智鬥勇, 就得依靠娘家, 事事搶先一步算計才能反治太夫人總以母親身分壓下來的命令. 從太夫人總讓喬蓮房到家裡, 就知道太夫人是用喬蓮房在元娘面前展現掌控權, 從元娘知道自己死期將至, 就步步謀算如何處裡繼室問題和兒子的婚事, 可知當時婆媳關係的緊張. 所以侯爺和元娘感情不睦, 只怕婆媳關係是一個關鍵因素.

傳統封建制度思想造成不少悲劇，侯門將相之家更如此，紅樓夢近似，以孝為本，侯爺婚姻納妾皆是母親之命，非他本心 ，他反對不來，只有冷漠自保，元娘初期二人尚好，但捲入婆媳糾紛後感情弱了，及後娶了十一娘才發覺此女奇特，品性行為令他欣賞⋯⋯⋯ 從而愛上十一娘。

I really despise this lady. She has never given Shiyi a chance. She's a horrible matriarch. She was constantly deceived by Lianfang and treated her like the main wife and Shiyi as the concubine. Now she's using Dongqing to manipulate her into surrendering her identity and she still can't see that her actions is destroying her family. I was so happy to see the entire family backing Lingyi/Shiyi. When she started listing all of Shiyi's contributions to the family I was ecstatic. The GM has never really given Shiyi credit for all she's done. The one time she praised Shiyi wasn't genuine at all. She did it to make a point to Lianfang. I was so glad when Lingyi finally called her out. Everyone in that room finally stood up to her by letting her know that she was wrong. It was a beautiful moment. I knew that Lingyi wouldn't disappoint me. He chose his wife's happiness. I love this scene

@@rachelcrawford1977 they were a united front and that's the reason she relinquished control. This family finally got it right. Shiyi impacted the lives of everyone in that room so it was good to see them all standing up for her. They finally stopped the old lady from ruining their family with her archaic beliefs.
太夫人由始至终心里都没真心接受十一娘，只要有事牵扯十一娘，太夫人就不由分说的赶她走 ，前前后后不知多少次了，真的让人生气又无语😡😡😡🙄🙄🙄

So glad that the rest of the Xu family supported Lingyi and Shiyi to shut the GM down
Exactly...the rules are only convenient when she is trying to control Shiyi. However, when it was Lianfang who was constantly breaking the family rules and creating havoc within the family then the rules were irrelevant. She picks a chooses when the family rules apply/when they can be overlooked. She is a horrible matriarch/they need to sit her down somewhere and let Shiyi run the family.

Asides from red shoes i kept on watching this drama repeatedly. I love it including the characters.
Very touch to see the family members to be united. With such values, this family will remain strong from generation to generation.
To bad the Grand mom had to be stopped because of her stubbornness and pride. The women never cared about any of her sons happiness and was willing to sacrifice there lives for her being in control
@@rachelcrawford1977 she manipulated her sons to get them to follow her orders. She constantly reminded them that she was their mother as if she was infallible. She was horrible and I'm glad they finally stood up to her. In all honesty Shiyi should be the matriarch because she has more wisdom than the GM.

如果丈夫愛惜妻子的當然是好事，但如丈夫是愚孝的話，可能會借機會给妻子來個下馬威也說不定。

I think everyone watching was screaming..HELL yeah you're WRONG...lol I shouted at the top of my lungs when she had the audacity to ask that question. Honestly the Ou family really didn't have to do anything all they needed to do was sit back and wait because she was destroying their family all on her own. They should've made her step down as the matriarch because she doesn't know how to lead the family.
I liked this scene as everybody comes to the defense of Shiyi. Too bad nobody realized Yizhen was the informant and she never got what she deserved. I like the brother and Danyang a lot because they did not have ulterior motives and accepted Shiyi into the family when nobody else did. The mother was always too impulsive and could not even see through Lianfang’s lies.
She cared more about status and favor then who a person is plus she’s the worst judge of a person I have no clue why she always loves the worst people and the good ones she pushes away.she must go though maid like there no other
Yizhen wasn't the informant it was concubine Qin who was working with the Ou family. She's been working with them for years after she lost her unborn because of the GM. She did a lot of damage before they figured out the truth.
Knowing that the GM is responsible for killing her unborn grandchild I now understand why she continued to support Lianfang. They were two peas in a very dark pod.

@@paulready8897 I agree. I love this drama. I enjoyed every character even the ones I hated. I think the entire cast did an amazing job bringing these characters to life. I love the transformation of Lingyi the most. He started out as a man that followed his mother's every command/became a husband that stood up for his wife despite his mother's objections. Such an amazing story

indeed..it was Lingyi who managed to keep the family going..if Lingyi or his brother or the sister wasn't beside her i doubt that her family's status will go that far...this old lady is infuriating 😠😠..
She's living off of his contribution. The entire family is living off of his sacrifice. She refuses to let him live his own life with the woman that he loves. She put status above character and she almost ruined her entire family. She isn't fit to lead this family.

I love the costumes!!! I think they would translate well in today's society. I would wear them in an instant but unfortunately being white and American if I wore them, I would be considered insensitive and poking fun. They are such beautiful clothes, too bad we can only really see them in historical dramas.

If you study and acknowledge the culture the clothes represent there is nothing wrong with it regardless of race and ethnicity. As long as you know their significance and respect what they stand for, surely, you won't do anything that would make it look like you're poking fun.
I’m and a senior black woman. I love the clothes also. Since I’m elderly, I’m gonna wear them because they look beautiful and comfortable. I will give a credit to the Chinese for creating some of the most beautiful clothing I’ve ever seen and yes I do like African clothing also. but these just screen comfortable femininity. I’m willing to apologize to anyone who says they need an apology but the clothes are beautiful.

I am also not watch this whole series, 1st cause the fact he have many wives , 2rd cause the grandma.
I dislike the production team choose to made her as the bad mother in law, while in the novel she is the good mother in law.
It's hard to stomach her at times but it's a really great show. Honestly I would've created an old folks home just for her...lol

It's because the old hag was fixated on status rather than character. She treated Lianfang like the main wife because she was a legitimate daughter whereas Shiyi was not. She gave power and status to Lianfang to put Shiyi in her place. The very first thing she ever told Shiyi is that she had to get along with Lianfang. I can't believe she still had the audacity to try to control Shiyi after all of Lianfang's sins were exposed considering she was the one that constantly defended her. She should've stepped down as the matriarch when Lianfang was kicked out. It's a shame that it took the entire family to banned together in order to get her to relinquish her control. Everyone in that room that stood up for Shiyi has been impacted by her in some way or another. It was a beautiful moment

She hated Shiyi from the very beginning so there was no way she was going to accept her no matter what she did for the family. She really hated the fact that she couldn't control her the way she did her other daughters in law. She also hated that Lingyi started to change and she was losing control over him too. She valued status over character so it was easy for her to dismiss Shiyi because she was the daughter of a concubine. It made her mad that Shiyi was smart as well. She didn't hold her tongue especially when the old lady was wrong. I love seeing the entire family standing up to her for Shiyi. It shows how much her presence changed the family.
Sitting here watching this clip that mom is always being hard on his wife. Just because she has her own mind and knows what she wants. Without having to answer to the old hen..
So Im wondering did her in-laws treat her in that same manner like she is doing her son wife? She always talking about the rules, ancestors. And the way things where in the past tense ( Rules are made to be broken) .Because I know me she would never like me or came around me lol.
The reason she treated Shiyi like crap is because of her low birth status. She was consumed by this/she didn't believe that Shiyi was capable of running the household because she was a concubine's daughter. The GM was a legitimate daughter so because of her high birth status she would've been treated better than the way she treated Shiyi.

They should've sat her down after Lianfang's evil deeds were exposed especially the ones where she knowingly help her cover them up by constantly protecting her. She isn't qualified to run the Xu family because she is a horrible judge of character. If it wasn't for Shiyi/Lingyi working together to expose Lianfang then the entire family would've been destroyed. Shiyi has more wisdom in her little pinky than the old lady has in her entire body...lol They should've made her step down as the matriarch because she's incapable of making wise decisions.
