    Absolutely LOVE that somebody is still showing the CR-X some love. I thought I was the only person in the world still trying to use it. I have a "standard" CR-X with a BTT 32 bit board and TFT 35 screen, along with Marlin 2.0.9. I got away from using the printer for about a year, but I'm trying to start using it again. Anyway, I have custom gcode for switching the filament, purging, etc that I remember worked fairly decent in Cura......but I can't figure out where to place the gcode in Prisa Slicer for the individual extruders. Also, for some reason, I can't get either slicer to actually switch filament colors. I've found a ton of vids about using Meshmixer and various other ways to make dual color prints, but I guess I'm just too stupid to make it work. So what is everybody using to make dual color prints once you switch over to Marlin ? Anybody willing to share your gcode for the filament switching ?

    I'm definitely gonna have to save this video and put a like on it. Was very helpful since I was trying to see if changing the firmware on my crx pro would make the motors move again. I had issues previously where the motors were getting power but would just lock up and hold position when I tried to home the nozzle

    finally upgraded, screen went fine, likewise the firmware. Now have direct access to esteps, can manually mesh level the bed and more features unlocked. I waited until I had the pennies for a silent board for it, then upgraded that one, leaving the original noisy one as stock. Thanks for the guide !

    Did the new firware fix the unusual issues lines on your print horizontal line not lining up properly with the Z axis on Creality CR-X

      I don’t believe I noticed this issue with the original firmware but either way, I don’t see it now. It does take some tuning though.

    Interesting as Creality has told me there is no support for my CR-X Pro have to look for stuff elsewhere. Mine has the BL touch and dual filaments.

      They are all very simple machines. Once you change to Marlin it's just another "generic" printer. At that point you can upgrade it or do whatever you want with it. Mine is the original CR-X (Not Pro) and it's still going strong. I added BL Touch after converting to Marlin. It could probably do with updating but it's working so I can't really be bothered. I also changed the head but its still dual filament.

    I have been having some trouble with adhesion, so bought a BL touch and excitedly followed all these instructions to update the firmware. However now when it's printing it does an unloading cycle after it's purged and primed the head - as far as I can tell there's no way to disable this. Is this right?!

      I can’t say I’ve had that issue. Of course one of my main reasons for all this was to go for BL Touch. But I can’t say I’ve had the issue you talk of so I can’t be of any of help I’m sorry.

      Hi.. I haven’t got any experience with the CR touch but I’d be surprised if there is any major differences. Just make sure you figure out the wire colours and add it in the setting in Marlin.

    I just installed this firmware and now my printer is acting like I have a purge bucket installed when I don't. Is there a way to disable that so it doesn't go to purge on the right every time I switch extruders?

      @FalcoGeorge  Před 4 měsíci

      Hmmmm. I can’t say I’ve had that problem. It’s been a while since I did it and there has probably been a lot of updates on marlin since I did it so I can’t say I’d be much help.

      @FalcoGeorge I was actually able to figure it out. I took out TOOLCHANGE_PARK and TOOLCHANGE_FILAMENT_SWAP and rebuild it and now it doesn't do that.

    Hi and thanks for this guide, I like that you have not run through at a breakneck pace!
    I was thinking of updating my CRX but wanted to know more about the new functions that become available on the screen. I can see the screens right at the end of your video, not sure what’s under ‘Settings’ and ‘Tools’ etc.
    Could you possibly list the menu contents or point me to where that info might be, thanks

    • @FalcoGeorge
      @FalcoGeorge  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Joe.
      Under Settings is.Levelling, Refuel, Move,disable motor, tools and printer info.
      Under Tools is Reset BL Touch, Motion Setup, Display Settings,Initialise EEPROM,PID Tuning and Store Settings.
      My main reason for the upgrade was to install BL Touch, which I’ve since done. As you may have found, one site tells you how to upgrade Marlin but first you have to “upgrade” to a non-touch screen like the earlier printers. I like this method better as I didn’t want to go backwards with the screen. The info is out there but it’s in a lot of different places. Hopefully this helps you out. Cheers

    So far this has worked but im having a problem where its showing the Temp at 65 degrees C at room temp (as soon as I turn it on it shows this). any idea why this is happening? I have 2 CR-X's and its happening on both of them

      I’d like to help but I don’t have a clue. Mine just worked. I did a brief search for the problem. There are a few threads on it but I don’t know what the issue could be since I haven’t had to troubleshoot it myself. Good luck, I hope you sort it out.

    hey there. says bl touch has zm if the sensor is connected to the z stop port as there is no 5 port on any crx board ? do i just wing it and throw crx_blt_bil_nofil marlin on it? another dude just flashed the crx pro firmware on it .. why is this so simply a pain, crx support is bad at best.
    also cant type inside the terminal at all so i cant reset it... another crx issue

    • @FalcoGeorge
      @FalcoGeorge  Před 2 lety

      That’s how I wired up my BL touch. Works great. I will say though that my wiring diagram in my BL touch had the wire colours backwards. I’d seen that is an issue so when it didn’t work I swapped them around. Fortunately it didn’t burn it out.

      @@FalcoGeorge this is becoming a total nightmare., wiring diagram for this board doesn't exist for any bl touch as the wiring in other videos don't make sense, don't know why i cant type in terminal m500 and don't know what front panel is, is it the screen on the printer, do i have to go somewhere in the menu, is the process not saved to the eprom even though it uploaded, you show you used the bare crx firmware but you use a bl touch ? don't you need crx_blt_bil_nofil for bed levelling. probably the worst printer i could have bought to get my head around. was easier flashing Sony Ericson phones back in the days.

    • @FalcoGeorge
      @FalcoGeorge  Před 2 lety

      @@2muchofyou Hi. When I first changed to Marlin I didn’t have BL Touch. That’s why the video didn’t mention it. I wanted to keep the video to a stock setup so as not to confuse. I would suggest starting with that and add BL Touch after you’ve got the process down pat. M500 etc are to save the settings, not to save firmware. You can do it through the front panel of the printer.. that is, the touch screen. There is a save to EEPROM button in the menus.
