Echoing many... This is only MY interpretation, it is about the rebirth you feel when you become a father. The old ways is the snake. I have totally cried at the section below: "Without the skin, here beneath the storm (🐍after he sheds the old self) Under these tears, now The walls came down (that or protected him from feeling true connection) Once the snake is drowned and (🐍again the old self, downed by the storm, tears, cleansing) As I look in his eyes (of his son, or any personal connection that can reach in to your soul) My fear begins to fade Recalling all of those times I could have cried then (holding back emotions) I should have cried then 🥲 🐍 - next song on the album is 46 & 2 which continues the snake shedding skin metaphor and is about personal development.
H is about Maynard becoming a father for the first time, leaving behind the demons of his past to become a better father than he had growing up. His son is named Devo H Keenan.
@@reginasamilpa44 I used to think that too back in the 90s, but according to Maynard, it’s about his son. H. When listening to the lyrics, either topic would fit, but hey, that’s with most of Maynard’s lyrics.
Running through the tracks. Yessir! Songs will be getting longer, varied, more complex. Also note, not every Tool song starting slow will have a massive "drop." It really depends. As far as the meaning goes... I dunno. The title, "H." is the middle name of MJK's son Devo. You can read into that if you want. Per usual, Maynard leaves the song's meaning to the listener. I trend toward this kid has come into his life and he's struggling with killing his old self. Or his old self wasn't really him. He couldn't see it before H. Something along those lines for me.

A few songs on this album are meant to be filler tracks or interludes. Intermission and Jimmy are definitely meant to be played together. Die Eier Von Satan is just a recipe for German Hash Balls spoken in German like it’s a Nazi Rally 😂…. Negative Ions and Sesario Sumnability is basically just noise

I’m looking forward to Pushit.
I actually think it's about heroin. But either way, it is a badass song!

Aenima was the shit. I listened to this like 3 times a day when it came out. In 4th grade. Still is an incredible album.
