I once heard that the difference between acrophobia and fear of heights is that the phobia is based on an irrational fear and the fear of heights is not. I think it's the same with fear of snakes, most people except for example Australians and Indians are afraid of snakes, but having a real phobia associated with panic attacks from videos or even pictures and feeling uncomfortable just thinking about these beasts, is not that normal. I have to choose very carefully where to go on vacation because I am afraid of running into a snake. I hope that is different for the majority of people.
