- There was once a classic air raid on a terrorist base in Zambia; it was called “Operation Gatling” it was a reprisal attack to avenge the shooting down of two of Rhodesia’s civilian airliners. I wrote this song for the pilots, crews and commanders of the operation. (thanks to the Rhodesian Air Force for permission to use the “live” cockpit recordings).

Yes. That has happened to me too, more than once. It saddens me that my own country was on the wrong side of history in this case (too). The fall of Rhodesia is a disgrace to the entire West, as several generations here failed to pay attention to their true interests. My heart cries for Rhodesia and the loss of so many great men. A similar fate seems to await us in Europe and possibly the US as well, unless we start learning our lesson and change course.

John Edmond your songs make me so sad , for Rhodesia and Keith and Angie Meadows. I believe they were both good friends of yours. It was a shock to learn that Keith died of a massive heart attack in Afghanistan

@@onkelwonkel229 yeah Rhodesia fell and there was a Zimbabwe-Rhodesia but it became Zimbabwe because they had to have majority rule and voting stuff but Robert Mugabe won so he basically removed Rhodesia and now its Zimbabwe

You should go, it's an amazing place. I lived in South Africa when I was younger and spent time in Rhodesia which was an incredible little country sad that is was just a pawn in the worlds politics

White people built such an incredible civilization❤
with a stable currency, a thriving economy, plenty of industry and agriculture, railroads airport schools, hospitals, universities streets, plenty of electricity with air conditioning, clean, running water, fully stocked store shelves, plenty of petrol at all the filling stations no trash on the streets, no graffiti on the buildings and then suddenly everything crumbled. I wonder what happened.
