Just an important suggestion regarding adding oil to the pasta water…it’s best if oil isn’t added as it makes the pasta slippery and with Mac and Cheese the sauce/cheese will not stick well to the “oiled” pasta. You’re welcome. 😊
I especially like this video because most of the YT cooks swoon over the food they make. But you, Dena, gave your dish a last minute suggestion to make it creamier. I'm gonna make this recipe with a little extra milk, and hope it will feed 5 people. Thank you.
Dena, your a wonderful cook, mac and cheese is my all time favorite unfortunately all I've ever had is boxes of Kraft mac and cheese, I never had home made before, thank you for the recipe.
Looks very nice and I love that you cook out the flower in the butter you took the couple of minutes.. so that's already a win for me. Personally I don't put oil in the water while the pasta is cooking so the cream can stick beter to the mac. Yours looks great so it's fine☺️
Thank you so much! It’s a winner in our house for sure, please consider subscribing if you haven’t yet and click on the bell so you can see my new posts!
So glad you gave it a try, it really is a yummy recipe, I hope you subscribe if you haven’t already, I will be making a couple more different Mac and cheese recipes coming up!! Thank you for watching
That macaroni & cheese recipe looks so delicious, Ms. Dena. I had fun watching you prepare & cook this. I also like Macaroni & Cheese as it happens to be one of many favourite foods of mine.
Thank you so much, I am glad you enjoyed your meal!! I am posting a “NEW” Mac and cheese recipe tomorrow!! Hope you watch, it’s a little different but sooooo yummy!!
I make my cheese sauce like you but you need to add more flour to the butter it should be the consistency of paste before cooking a few minutes and then adding milk.
Noodles/pasta only stick if you neglect them. Thats a waste of olive oil. I never use oil and they never stick. After you cook, you can add a little oil so it doesnt stick when it drains.
I think you might have boiled (Over Cooked) that Macaroni , for far too long before you placed it into the oven to cook even further.(I don't mean to seem like I'm coming off as "a Simon Cowell " or a Chef Ramsey ) (No shade or judgement etc ) . (Recipes are Recipes , To each his own) . I suggest you dont be afraid of Salt (Unless you have High Bloodpressure) But i recommend maybe 1 or 2 table spoons of salt , and 1 TABLE SPOONS OF SUGAR will make your "Mac and Cheese taste sooooo Supreme). Your recipe Still Looks very tasty and delicious mamm. 😋 P.S I know how much it it is important to watch our sodium intake, but GURLLLLL, in my world...when it comes to southern dishes, we can't "half step at all " to experience those true down deep southern traditional flavors ").
Thank you for your comments, I’m sure some people prefer Al dente pasta, we like it softer in our family so I cooked it the way people in my family enjoy it. thank you so much for watching, I do appreciate it so much!
Would you please provide the recipe and instructions to be copied down. And please, please, please give me your best understanding of why my cheese sauce ALWAYS separates, either in the pan or during the baking process.
Hi! Tell me how you make your Mac and cheese and I might be able to offer suggestions to keep this from happening, here is my recipe. Mac and cheese Preheat oven to 350 Mac 16 ounce box, cook in boiling water for about 9 minutes, 1 cube of butter, 3 tablespoons flour 1 tablespoon sea salt 1 teaspoon pepper Onion powder 1 tablespoon Garlic powder1 tablespoon Sharp cheddar, 1 cup Colby jack cheese, 2 cups Parmesan freshly grated 1/3 cup 2% milk 1-1 1/2 cups, evaporated milk 3/4 cup or 1 full can (15 ounce) Bake 350 for 30 minutes Cook noodles till just slightly Al dente so they don't over cook in oven. Drain and rinse. Heat Dutch oven to medium high, melt 1 cube of butter, add 3 tablespoons of flour, use a whisk to stir, be sure to get all lumps broken up as you stir, turn burner down to medium heat, continue to stir as you cook flour until you start to get a slight brown color, about a minute or 2, this is important to cook flour so sauce doesn't come out pasty. Add seasonings, stir in milk, then evaporated milk, add mustard, stir in cheese until sauce is creamy, drain and add noodles, stir to combine sauce and noodles well, pour into baking dish, top with more cheese, bake for about 30 minutes or until hot and bubbly. Let rest for 5 minutes before cutting into it, be careful not to burn your mouth tasting this, Thank you for watching!
@@dinnermadeeasywithdena I was making it in basically the same way, but using whole milk and Cheddar cheese with a touch of dry mustard mixed into the final sauce. As I said, everything is fine until I put it in the oven. Now I'm wondering if I should lower the oven temperature because I live at sea level?
Make sure when you get ready to add the cheese, that it is shredded, try taking your pot off the burner and stirring the sauce a bit before adding in the cheese, stir to allow it to melt off the burner, also turn oven temp down, you can broil the top at the end to give it the nice golden top, when I use the evaporated milk it is room temp and not cold when I stir it in, it helps to temper the sauce from being to hot for the cheese as well. I should have said that in my video, I hope it helps you, Thank you for your comments and questions. Let me know if this helps!
@@dinnermadeeasywithdena Sorry to be so late getting back to you. I've tried everything you suggest except turning down the oven temperature, so that's my plan for the next time I try making it. Many thanks!

You're a very nice person and this is a very good recipe but you absolutely absolutely absolutely absolutely absolutely do not need oil in your water. All you need to do is Stir it at the beginning. The oil coats the pasta and does not allow the sauce to penetrate the noodle and this makes the dish Less Pleasant. I'm sorry if your mom instilled in you that you need to put oil in the water but she was wrong and you are wrong because you do not absolutely do not absolutely do not absolutely do not need to do that. You're only making the dish less than it could be
Thank you so much for the tip, I realized my mistake right after I put this video up. I do read them all and continue to learn from them, I truly value your input

Preshredded cheeses has an small amiuntvof sawdust to keep it from clumping and spooiling
Pre-sheeded has a small amount of sawdust to keep it longer and to prevent it from spoiling and clumping.

Yumm
Restaurants secret add 2 eggs shhhh
She is making creamy Mac and cheese, not cake like Mac. Egg will bind it and firm it up and if it doesn’t, then you still have raw egg in your Mac.
Just in time . Need this for tomorrow nite
