- The 30/30 Club. With the rule changes it might not feel as elite, but only 7 players in baseball history have done it in back to back seasons. That's elite. Well, what if I told you only 1 player has done it in back to back seasons, twice? And did it while overcoming an odd beginning, an AGE DISCREPANCY that everyone forgot, a position change, and two trades...
In this video we look back at the legend that is Alfonso Soriano, his 2002-2006 stretch in particular, and see why he might just be the most CONSISTENTLY DYNAMIC player in MLB HISTORY...

I had this guy up there with Pujols and A-Rod in early 2000s on my fantasy team first round picks. Incredible talent.
I remember watching Soriano hit a walk off in the 18th inning of a Rangers game. Some guy wearing a Soriano jersey caught the ball
I just found your channel. Your content is good. You got another sub here. I can't wait to check out some of your other videos. Keep up the great work.
As long as Soriano isn't wearing a Cubs uniform....I have no problem with him....his years in Chicago gave me anxiety issues. Consistent is NOT a word I'd use to describe him in any way shape or form...while he was here.
Criminally underrated career
Sorianos bat load reminds me of a cat shaking their butt before they attack
😂😂
That’s funny I named my cat after him
This is like one of the best videos I've seen from a channel with less than 50,000 subs, great vid
Dude played for both my fav teams !!! Cubs and Yankees
Love the vid! I subbed and I'm excited to see what else you come out with
Why do I feel like I'm listening to Peter Parker talk baseball?😂
It's cool that alfonso soriano had back to back 30-30 seasons twice, but if we look at someone like Bonds, he had a 7 year stretch(92-98) where he reached 30-30 4 times, and was short of 7 consecutive by 1, 1, and 2 stolen bases respectively - one of those years being the strike shortened 1994 (which means he should have had 4 consecutive). If you add 1990 and 1991, he got the 30-30 in 90, and was 5 homers shy in 91.
i could swear I saw that guy in the little league world series a few years back 😂😂😂😂
I remember Soriano coming out of nowhere tearing it up and then falling off hard. It makes sense with those two extra years of age, I somehow forgot about that...
one of my favorite
I think 50/50 is borderline impossible. Those extra homeruns significantly decrease your opportunities to steal. You have to have crazy high OBP, have elite speed and base steal skills, and have ample protection in the lineup to create better ABs.
Acuna may be the only person we’ve ever seen who has a legitimate opportunity. He fell 9 homers short this year, but many may not remember that he only had 28 home runs heading into September. Had he kept up a similar pace to the last month in the home run column, he’d have had more homers than Olson
If there's any consolation for Soriano, the Yankees likely at least gave him a ring in one of the two seasons where he was a call up. Keep in mind they gave one to Lowell with even less playing time in 1998 than what Soriano had in 2000.
If his defense was up to par he might have had a real shot at the Hall of Fame.
I hate to admit it being a Mariners fan but Alfonso just keeps going and it's infuriating lol
Nice vid kid
He stunk up the Cubs
Correction, in 2000 the Yankees won their THIRD consecutive title.
the japanese professional baseball league is called NPB (nippon professional baseball), not NPL
8:42 he hit 46 in 2006
Sorrano looks like The Gza/Genius of Wu lol😂 but he had some sleeper season's
Lol facts! He does look exactly like the GZA.
GZA was my favorite from the Clan. Loved his cerebral lyrics and balanced flow.
@@ousamaabdu794 i knew I wasn't bugging lmao 🤣 he's my favorite of the original members,Killah priest is my favorite Wu affiliate
He's my cousin
He lost a lot of WAR on the defensive side. If he just played replacement level defense he probably would have been HOF bound. But instead he’s one of those fringe HOFers that might never get In because of his defense. Very sad because he was a great player.
You’re so right!
Plus the guy had stretches where he could play gold glove level only to follow with some of the dumbest defensive mishaps one could ever witness.
Hall of Famer. Simple enough
50- 50 club of homers and steal there none and 50-50 for homers and double happen only once.
Folks used to lie about their age to gain an advantage in recruiting. A talented but rough 23yo doesn't sound as appealing as the same but 21.
I remember the jokes being made about El Duque's age.
It blows my mind thinking he fell off the hof ballot in a year
For real.
I think what happened is that there weren't enough roiders voted in but they didn't get knocked off the ballot, so that ballot is freaking loaded. I believe that rose and bonds belong in the hall of fame and everyone needs to suck it up
Because he really don't have the number, not even steal 300 bases,412 are good,1159 rbi no,only bat 0.270 and his defense are mediocre.
@axelagosto5196 I mean he's a better version of Tim rasin
I think he could’ve made 50/50 if he stayed a Yankee
I rather have Alfonso Soriano on my team rather then Alex Rodriguez
You didn't mention him stealing 142 million from the cubs
Not a good vibe if you're a cubs fan
Broo keep on one topic you started talking about Soriano and mention 100 players
Your only alowef 2 series to be a baseball player,
I’ve been trying to decipher this for hours
Me too
During that time, age and date of birth were always questionable for players coming out of the Caribbean

Alfonso Soriano’s evolution was weaker than today’s athletes’ evolution so therefore he wouldn’t be able to play today. It was also not as fast or big. In order to play today in MLB Soriano would need to have bigger, faster and stronger evolution. Not weak and slow (compared to this era) evolution like he had. Unfortunately tor him he was born too early for the better evolution.
Even the worst MLB players today have great evolution inside their bodies.
These modern players suck, could you imagine what frank Thomas or Barry bonds would do to this league. This league would get killed
@@pwx13 but what about the evolutions?
@HT-sm9dm that doesn't make any sense, those roid ragers hit more home runs and a better average. There is nothing superior about the modern player. That were just as fast, they were stronger and hit better
@@pwx13 lol I know man I was just joking. This is the type of 💩 we hear nowadays through from dumb 🍑 zoomers though. And ESPN and Fox Sports don’t help either. I actually had a guy claim that Barry Bonds would have had to “adjust” to this era’s pitching because it’s so much better than what he faced 😂.
@HT-sm9dm LOL that's pretty funny, you got me there. Que triple H, batista, flair and randy Orton
Did Slappy McBluelips (A-ROD) even end up hitting better than Soriano in the post season?
Only in 2009...Otherwise, Sori kicked his a**...I missed Soriano as a Yankee...
A rod had many more chances than Soriano did
@@ICU2B4UDO He was fine in 2000 as well, just that the M's got wiped out in the ALCS. Soriano's postseason didn't kick anyone's ass except for Seattle and Minnesota.
