Google Docs: Voice Typing

- We'll show you how to use Google Docs to transcribe your voice. All you need to do is enable the feature, and then you'll be able to simply talk, and Google Docs will convert it to text.
While the speech recognition isn't perfect, it is possible to correct errors. You can right-click underlined words to select a suggested change, and you can even use voice commands to make changes. In the video, we'll go over some basic voice commands you can use.

Any idea why the voice typing keeps pausing after ±5 minutes? Is it meant to perform like that? I need to transcribe 1½ hour lecture, but it keeps pausing every few minutes.
Can this be used offline? I've tried using it and it works great till my internet slows down.
Thanks for making the video. One major flaw with Google speech-to-text is after you say "period" or "full stop" it doesn't automatically capitalize the first word of the next sentence. This is very frustrating. I tried using the "Capitalize" command. Sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn't. Any thoughts?
There is a command in Word. It’s the icon that has a small and big A on it. Hit the icon then hit sentences format. I’m not sure if google docs has the same function. You can even do all caps or all lower letter

Does anyone know why the microphone on voice typing just stops like you just did to me and I had to press it again to get started recording again why doesn't it just stay on until I turn it off? That's twice now

One of my first introductions to voice typing was Dragon Speak in the Health Services.
Early on you said you could use this to "transcribe meetings or audio recordings." You never touched on those topics again, so I don't know what you had in mind there. Would you please expand on this? The only idea I've seen to have Google Docs transcribe a recording is to have your microphone pick up the text from the air, like your ears would, while you play the recording nearby. And for a meeting, wouldn't you need multiple mics or one very sensitive mic? Thanks for the brief intro.
Hi, I am trying to do this but mine won't capitalize the first word of a sentence for some reason. Yours does. I have the box selected properly and so it does if I type it, but not with dictation. Do you know why this would happen?

yeah, i love typing when I know what I want to write, but Google Voice is perfect for just rambling on notes and thinking before sitting down and writing. super accurate, enough voice tools to keep it legible, w punctuation etc.
My microphone is not working. What should I do ?
Is there any way to turn off auto punctuation? it puts periods in random places without me saying period.
It seems such a great and convenient thing to use but I need a free dictation program that actually allows me to dictate *quotation marks* since my whole reason for trying this is to write fiction without typing. I cannot find a way around this. No matter what I say it gets typed out as words (open quote, start quote, quotes, quotation mark, etc).
Speechtexter at least lets you create verbal commands yourself and add them to their existing dictionary of punctuation and such; I may have to go with them instead of Google. Anyone know if there's some trick I have not heard to engage quotes on Google Docs' Voice Typing? Thanks.

But ever since Google took over the voice-to-text feature on Android the accuracy of it took a dive, and it took away all of the good features that let you correct mistakes.
My computer has no built in microphone, can I plug in headphones with a microphone instead?
Yes! Any microphone (built-in or external) should be fine as long as it works with your computer.

every 5 min, with google docs voice typing, it blocks itself.
do you know the reason? for some months i didnt have any problem, now i must follow it and every 5 minutes i have to restart it

yk that theres a version history in google docs, if you just copy paste it'll show as it's just pasted, but if you use Undetectable AI's human typer, it makes it seem manually written

No matter what I do, the mic keeps turning off after just few words, and I have to resume its listening. Google Translator handles listening better - but there suddenly it stopped switching punctuation words for actual punctuation, and my work is terribly slower. No idea what to do, and I need this badly.
