The Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor is an American stealth tactical fighter aircraft developed exclusively for the United States Air Force USAF and is a great Mod in Arma 3.
The C-RAM/Phalanx CIWS (Counter-Rocket Artillery Mortar) system and CIWS (Close In Weapon System) use a 20mm gatling cannon to destroy incoming targets.

I love to make these simulation videos for you and I am happy that you all like them a lot! The graphics of Arma are very good, it almost looks like in real life. Rather simulations than real war!
I definitely don't want to give the impression that I glorify war, I am just a enthusiastic gamer.
The weapon systems are of course used differently in real life, but I am happy to educate you about these weapons systems, many do not even know that they exist.

My main concern would be mag size in the cram idk how much amo it can hold but I’m pretty sure they only load every 5th shot as a tracer. I could be wrong though so please correct me if I am
Good video nice work but for those who may be curious. So the ciws system is not intended to fire long salvos like this video as the cost to do so is too high. What would really happen is by 2nd salvo cqas (air support) would jad already been on scene to intercept. Also sadly, the game mechanics are a vit off, ciws ammo is explosive on impact by design so realistically speaking the f-22 would had been downed a handful of times.

I had to go back and read the tittle a couple of times at the 6min mark as I was trying to understand how the C-Ram being tested against our finest F22 with live tracer rounds.. Im like .. it can't be real live rounds hitting our Raptor! Then I read "Simulation" 🤦🏻♂️Ah! No shit lmao.. Incredible to say the least WoW.. then the owl lol 😆 Loved it!

Arma 3 its accuracy to hit the Jet plain is 1 in 100 ....very bad ....simply waste of ammunition......
@@shrinathv827 Yeah, it's not really designed to take out highly maneuverable jet fighters though, but instead things that are coming relatively straight at it like missiles, rockets, and mortars, which it was designed to counter.
why try to combine at the first a bombing run with the jets actually flying over the target ? so last war,,or before and the barrels burn out and the ammo belts do not hold that many bullets,,get real

That thing would be a puddle of molten metal if it fired off that many rounds at once.
Actually no, C-RAM's don't melt with that amount of rounds, if it kept shooting for a long period of time it may overheat but never to the point of melting.

It’s a test . Those are all tracer rounds no real rounds and they had to have set the lock on to 100feet off. Those things are accurate to 3ft. If you watch you can see it trailing behind it at pretty much the same distance .

Even if each round cost a dollar on the cheap end, that would be a tax payers nightmare.
This thing costs anywhere from $40-80k dollars to shoot down one rocket or mortar round, which they say takes between 10-30 seconds to shoot down. It has a cyclical rate of like 30k rounds a minute. Each gun unit also costs between 10-15 million dollars. So yes it his is a huge expenses. I think they were saying each bullet costs depending on what type of munition like i.e. standard ball ammo, tracer, depleted uranium (armor piercing), incendiary, armor piercing incendiary, or explosive between $10-30 each. I mean they are pretty special rounds. They don't even have a normal impact fired primer that a firing pin would usually hit to fire the round.. they use electronically fired primers, which is the only way to keep up. Oh yeah and just know those tracer rounds your seeing are spaced out every 20 bullets. So there are 20 other bullets being fired your not seeing between each one if those tracer rounds, which already look like a laser beam. Fyi.... Yes your %110 correct about being expensive, well kinda. I guess it's all relative when our nation defense spending budget this year, like every year, is always increasing, is in the neighborhood just shy of 800 BILLION DOLLARS. Not 8 million, or even 8 billion, or 80 billion (A number you nor I could either fathom, I mean you could stack dollar bills literally to the moon with 80 billion dollar bills. We are talking 800 billion dollars. Thats more then the next 25 countries total defense budgets COMBINED. Yes, this includes China, Russia, all the EU, England, Canada..blah blah... It's retarded. And we have been spending that every year since the end of WWII. People get it all wrong when they say the US military is 10 or 15 or even 25 years ahead of the technology curve. They say it's actually hard to even estimate, but it's more like WELL OVER 100 YEARS AHEAD OF REST OF THE WORLD. So what were we talking about again, oh yeah $200,000 a minute for the munitions in one of these guns.... LMFAO... That's child's play. That literally is how much they make in interest in 1 second just on their 800 billion dollar budget......sorry for the rant.....But like I was saying yes your completely right. Well, relatively, when your talking about numbers you and I can comprehend. That thing sounds like a kitchen faucet running, of pure money for water, down the drain, well it is saving many lives, so can you put a price tag on that???

Sure, US defense spending may be 3 times higher than the next highest spender, China, BUT this is only because its economy is much larger compared to other nations. When you compare military spending as % of GDP you find that the US is 13th and that is excluding states that are secretive with their figures such as NK, Cuba, Libya, Eritrea, etc.
The amount of rounds being used may be expensive, but what people fail to realise is that shooting down a mortar not only wastes the enemy with a mortar round, but it also saves the allies the cost of a soldier being killed, or buildings and equipment being destroyed from an attack.
This is why countries with even smaller defense budgets (e.g Germany) buy these CWIS systems for point defense.

Cool videos as always and Nice graphics. But I’m pretty sure the F22 would wipe it out before it could even know one was in the sky.
It’s invisible to radar but not vision, the gun can be fired but yeah the F22 could wipe it out with its missiles unless a BVR engagement occurs where fighters scramble to intercept the incoming aircraft. It can definitely take less time to destroy the target but clearly this was a very hard task as the guns were tracking him so it was very hard.
Or why would a air superiority fighter get close to any ground system.

the owl sound effect during all this is a bit unrealistic cause owls have sensitive hearing and would fly away from loud sounds like gunfire but unrealism is ok in a videogame also those gun sounds sound really good

Need to work on the cockpit control panel as they are very flat and none of the numbers or the gyro changes and that was the biggest hint that wasn’t real. Other than that good job.

@@Provision600 it’s actually made for mortars. The missiles Iran launched that hit the Base in Iraq and that base was surrounded with C-Rams
