Fun fact:
This sanitized octoling is an actual character, her real name is Mizuta Ahato.
What makes her so special is that while she may have been sanitized (and probably lost her free will, poor girl) she still has some of her memories.
Edit: Wow this got more popular than expected, but hey it's good to see that Mizuta is getting more attention.

To me bless sounds like a broken recording made by the humans when they were still around. And the voices in it even sound like human voices instead of the liquid sounding inkling and octoling voices. So I'm guessing the octolings either found it lying around somewhere in the underground or it was some kind of message installed into Tartar by the scientist that built him that Tartar was supposed to deliver to the next species to warn them to not make the same mistakes the humans did since Tartar states that his purpose was to warn the next species. And then the girl from Def1sh picked up on it somewhere, recorded it, then remixed it into a song

The odd thing is, sampling "human" sounds in this track is something Bless actually has in common with Tartar's theme... so it might be something darker, might be dedf1sh starting to fully succumb to that sanitization or going through a period where it really overwhelmed/overtook her.

Yes the name is a parody of deadmau5, but to me the 1 indicates that she was the first to be sanitized; probably why she isn’t completely sanititized: she’s a prototype.
Might not be accurate at all, but this occurred to me when I first discovered her :)

I won't lie, #8 regret rly hits me with the feels. The fact Nintendo can tell such a tragic story about a character we know so little about is amazing.

The whole vibe of the octo expansion is just so good.

I've reworked my characters approximately a thousand times. Don't expect a bestselling novel any time soon.

Okay, (very) brief synopsis of the story for those who are interested:
A young, sheltered girl gets taken from her hometown because of her special talents. These talents are needed in order to take down a conglomerate of power-hungry entities that have already infiltrated and toppled a neighboring country's government. She trains with other young talented young people in a city of mist in order to keep what little freedoms they still have.
The atmosphere is slightly steampunk-y with the whole "The tech looks and feels old, but is more advanced" idea. There are many different places in the world, but most of them have an uncanny feeling. Like they're ALMOST normal, but somethings off.
I have yet to think of a title yet, but I'll keep you posted.
I kind of had the idea of making this a comic instead of a novel, since I love drawing my characters and I've had trouble with writing it all down. but as I'm young and inexperienced, a project like this is a huge task, novel or not.
Maybe I should start posting about it some where? I don't know.

Kia is the main character.
She grew up in a small fishing village on the southern peninsula of Norvia (The country she lives in), and would only go to other villages when festivals or events were being held. She always wanted to travel to the bustling cites, beautiful beaches, and fog-covered forests of northern Norvia. But, as Rumors of war started spreading she assumed she wouldn't get the chance any time soon.
The governess though, had other plans for her. Since Kia had connection to a magical force (I haven't pinned down a name for the force, but it gives her power relating to her emotions, spiritual connections, and the forces of nature) The governess sent another trainee, Fenn, to recruit her. Seeing as she's kind of reckless and up for anything, she agreed.
She both is confident AND doesn't know what she's doing. She is quick on her feet, clever, high energy, and overly optimistic. She holds strong in her morals, but she tries to hear other's perspectives.
- F E N N -
Fenn is a calculated swordsman that takes after his late father, who was on the the governess' council and one of the most well known swordsman of his time.
He currently lives with his more outgoing older brother Moru in their fathers estate in northern Norvia. He often comes off as cold and distant when you first meet him, but he is quite the opposite.
He is shy, so he doesn't quite know how to talk to people. But, he is ultimately very kind and respecting, if a bit stuck in his ways.
He is intensely dedicated to swordplay and battle strategy. This is partly because he feels pressured to keep his fathers' legacy which has been shoved on him by not only himself, but the public as well.
He enjoys artistic endeavors like poetry, though he doesn't allow himself to take them to seriously, as he already has enough on his plate.

He's Fenn's older brother. He tries to be a beacon of light in his brother's life and has basically become Fenn's second father. He is quite nurturing and is known for his cooking.
He doesn't like to show his more negative emotions, as he feels like he needs to be an example of happiness in his brother's life. He's hard-working and modest, and tries to keep things light-hearted in spite of his tough life.
Unlike his brother, he was never good at sword-fighting, partially because of his bad eyesight.
At this point I might as well write the whole novel in this comment, it's never gonna end! haha

Random Theory: Deadf1sh made all her music after she was sanitized and made a remix of Splatattack so that must mean that she came in contact with a inkling or at least some part of Inkopolis to be able to make a remix of Splatattak. Who knows maybe that was the reason she got sanitized in the first place. She still has to have part of her memory, not all of it tho. That might be why her version of Splatattack is made up of bits and pieces of the song and some fillers, but this is just a random theory. ( Sorry if my grammar is bad)

splattack actually scares me. i think behind this song, maybe she was working on it before she was sanitized, then after, she continued her work on it, but now that she’s sanitized, she continued it, and remixed the beat a bit, but since she’s still partially, i guess, conscious, she hears her commands as screaming voices in her head mixed with her own. this is why the beat and song are so insane, mixed up. she feels insane and she can’t do anything by her own free will so while she’s making this song she is being commanded what to do most of the time but sometimes she breaks free of the command and messes up the song.

@@mam-is9cn Imagine this, Dedf1sh and some other octoling or even inkling hacked the broadcasts to ask for help, and Dedf1sh, is just like a form of sending the messages in a kinda hidden way, the inkling or octoling thats sending these messages is using dedf1sh as like something for people to hear their messages, and on story mode or even pthe expansion we get to save someone by doing two different sides, an inkling side, with normal story mode levels, and an octoling side with puzzles just like the octo expansion, and sometimes you require to do one level on the inkling mode to unlock something on other level, idk

I have a theory:
The Deepsea Metro has been running ever since the squids and octopi have gotten a humanoid form, and after the war of Inklings and Octarians ended and Octarians we’re forced to live underground. And Muzuta Ahato (Who was the octarian’s best music composer before Octavio) wanted to see the surface again, but while she was traveling, she found a metro, and she thought it was the only way to get up to the surface, and when she got to one part of the metro, she found a telephone, so she decided to answer it and the telephone said “Congratulations, test subject 1, you have made it to the Deepsea Metro Central Station” and she was confused until she got the Metro card and the CQ-80 and the train appeared, when she got on, she was introduced by CQ Cucumber and he told her in order to get to the promised land, she has to complete tests and collect 4 thangs in order to get to the surface, but when she got all of the thangs, she immediately asked to go to the promised land, but when she got in the completed thang, she realized that when the telephone said “test subject 1”, she knew something was going to happen to her, and when she opened her eyes, she found herself somewhere in front of a DJ set, also finding herself with green skin and different colored hair, with headphones attached to her head that were connected to giant speakers, and she had no other choice but to play music, to warn other test subjects to know what is going to happen to them, and from that day on, she called herself Dedf1sh, meanwhile in Octo Valley, Octavio recieved news that Mizuta Ahato was gone, so Octavio decided to step up to the plate and take her place, and all of the octarians called him DJ Octavio, but his music was nothing like Mizuta’s, it was...hypnotizing.
Reading this made me realized what if all the test subjects were being tested so they can be in the promised land,like a game,but while they collect the thangs,they didn’t make it and they don’t want them to have free wills
@@LaMusica8 im pretty sure it was a lose lose, you fail you die (or get sanitized) . you win you get blended into the perfect mix.
Going in the blender and getting sanitized are two very different things, by the way. The blender completely kills them and turns the victims into that blue ooze that tartar was going to turn into the ultimate lifeform. You get blended if you succeed and pass the test (without being able to escape like agent 8 did) but being sanitized is when you fail the tests. It uses the data from the tests to reprogram you to focus on your best attributes and makes that the only thing you can do and are forced to do by the sanitation. Being sanitized takes away your free will and memories and forces you to become a weapon rather than an actual person so she didn't get blended.
What probably actually happened was her talents were music and when she was tested, she failed the tests and got sanitized but she was able to keep her memories and continued to do music (my theory)
TL:DR She got sanitized, not blended meaning she wasn't able to complete the tests
What if before octavio made music that was great like it was fun to listen to but didn't hypnotize anyone. He grew more salty and rude and started making hypnotic music.

SO epic when you are starting octo expansion, you know the intro mission where you are making your way to the central station. The central station music is playing, then when you get the splattershot Jr and enter that side area to find the key, it hops right into #5 thirsty and I'm like HELL YEAH
There’s something quite ominous about her song titles. I find it interesting compared to the other songs in the Splatoon franchise. Most of them have at least some relation to the ocean or at least are two words or related to where it’s played. That compared to Dedf1sh’s songs is something that stands out to me, how all of her songs are numbered and have one word names that are completely unthemed, it’s quite off-themed for the rest of the game, which is something slightly weird that makes you feel sort of… uneasy?

Something I noticed that's really neat and thematically significant is the orchestra hit that gets sampled in #14Crush at 22:23 - it's from Shostakovich's 5th symphony, towards the beginning of the last movement. Shostakovich lived under heavy authoritarian rule and that movement of the symphony is often artistically interpreted as a "celebration" that's being forced by an authoritarian hand, people being beaten or threatened into dancing and rejoicing.
Likewise, dedf1sh is writing this upbeat and catchy tune while under the effects of partial yet literal mind control/sanitization, playing it for an octoling that's escaping from the authority of the Octarians and Kamabo, and for a player that's having a good time while getting their ass kicked. ...The lore checks out.
