    I spooled it with 8 LB test mono for lighter lures, gave it some practice casts and found that it did cast well czcams.com/users/postUgkxSlytCJqozTF7EbdP4LWP-HUXf9WRDJ0e , except that the anti-backlash setting had to be turned up almost all of the way to keep the "overcasts' ' down. I disassembled it, and found that if I potted some "shim washers" behind that anti-backlash magnet assembly, it got the magnets closer to the spool without rubbing, and I could get better control with about a 6 to 7 out out 10-Max setting. I also noticed that the handle shaft had some internal end play, maybe only 2 or 3 thousands of an inch, but it's still noticeable. If the anti-backlash and shaft tolerances were "tightened up" this would be a fantastic value. I've only used it for 4 days of fishing in a month's time, but I plan on keeping it.

Always been wondering how guys would be able to cast the exact same distance over and over and over hahahaha, cheers man! After 7 years of fishing I'm still learning new things and it's amazing! Thanks for the great tips and the very clear & straight to the point explaining of how it all works

    A tip when using ACS, don't close the bail arm by hand because it sometimes can push line out of clip. Have clip facing ground and close bail arm by winding handle.

    I have 3 of these map acs reels and have had a problem with all of them . I put the line in the clip , keep the clip at the bottom away from the rod . It casts great for a while and then for no reason it just pings out on the cast ( you can hear it ) and then im going all ray mears in the bush

      I’ve got 3 of the big pit reels and they do the same. Using 18 pound line it just pings out the clip on the acs clip. 😡I’m going to try clipping the line in the bottom part of the clip to see if that works?

      You can tie a small piece of pole float rubber (around 3 inches long) around the mainline right next to where you clip up so you know where your line fits into the clip every time.

    • @neilwatt5497
      @neilwatt5497 Před 5 lety

      To be honest buddy especially fishing tight to islands there is enough stretch in your mainline (I use 6 lb maxima--mostly) that it's very rare even with a big fish to have to unclip. If you do have to you can put a slip knot where you have the line "say to the 1st eye from the butt section but keep the tag ends about 3 inches long so if you have to unclip the knot flows through your rings with ease 👍

      @@SWINDLA87 does this mean casting into open water then wind back to line clip before recast to target area?

    • @SWINDLA87
      @SWINDLA87 Před 5 lety

      @@davidinger4150 Hi mate, I don't actually remember writing my comment or have any recollection of the video but having just watched it, I would say, yes, you would need to cast into open water to get to your clip mark.
      Ignore my first comment though as that would only really be any use whilst carp fishing where you're not re-casting all the time like you are whilst feeder fishing.
      If you're feeder fishing up next to an island then there should be no need to unclip at all. The reason for that, is the fish can only go left or right, not forward so it won't be ripping spool off the line anyway. In my experience when fishing tight to an island, you always manage to to regain line before the fish can take any.
      I've only ever needed to let the fish take line when you're almost ready to net the fish, so you can have the drag set quite tight but loosen off when you get the fish within 15 feet from the bank.
      Imo, the map Clip system is just a gimmick, I don't think you'll find many companies copying this system any time soon. You really don't need this type of clip.
      Sorry for the long replt, tight lines

    Can someone explain why the rod is pulled back after the cast, I.e, whilst the feeder is flying through the air. What purpose does it serve? Thanks.

    • @TheMAPChannel
      @TheMAPChannel  Před měsícem +1

      It means that the final metres of line is pulled off the reel up to the line clip, so as the feeder lands you follow the feeder down with the rod so it doesn't 'bounce' and move out of the intended position. You've just given us an idea for a new tutorial video

    Can someone explain the reasoning behind d the up and down action of the rod as the feeder is about to hit the water. Thx in advance.

    • @TheMAPChannel
      @TheMAPChannel  Před 5 lety +1

      Hitting the clip in the air slows the feeder before it hits the water, causing less disturbance.

    • @RunninWithScissors
      @RunninWithScissors Před 5 lety +1

      Basically lift the rod while the lead is flying through the air so it slows the flight of the method feeder so it lands flat and slow and the bait doesn't fly off. Also with the rod up in the air when it hits the clip, you now have 4 foot of line to play with for putting your rod on the rest without moving the feeder :)

    • @mq3894
      @mq3894 Před 4 lety

      @@RunninWithScissors when you feel the line hit the clip or when you hear it lower the rod so it doesn't fly back from the force of the hit and so the line clip doesn't pop off.
      Hope that helps x

    • @mq3894
      @mq3894 Před 4 lety

      And because when the line hits the clip the force of the hit can pull the feeder back and cause your bate to fall of meaning your pellets or ground bate isn't near the feeder meaning your Lees likely to get bites etc.
      I use a map acs 3000 real and I love the line clip design. Only reel that I know of like it.

      I don't like feeder fishing with anything less than 8lb because constantly casting 35gramm feeders loaded with groundbait takes its toll. Try Daiwa sensor in 8lb. Great line, cheap, enough stretch to absorb casting high weight all day.
