- Fishy friends! After a short Christmas break I’m back with a new #FishyFriday video! Recently I’ve travelled to the North of Greece, to Preveza, to meet with trout farmer Christos. The story he told me about his ASC-certified (Aquaculture Stewardship Council) farm called Eurotrout gave me a great insight in the world of sustainable fish farming.
As you all might know, I love wild seafood and visiting fishing communities all around the world. But we should take in consideration that the world population is growing and that there’s a huge need for more sustainable seafood. Farming seafood can be one of the solutions to feed the planet.
So come aboard, find out more about this wonderful, sustainable farm in Greece and let me show you afterwards how to cook with this beautiful fish!
Let’s get cooking!

I like this trout farming
That is really impressive the way they raise the trout and reuse the water for the fields. It's an inspiration! Btw I love trout. Smoked trout is a great alternative to smoked salmon.
Thanks for your comment! I was indeed impressed too. Hope it has inspired you to get some cooking done over the weekend. Alternating trout and salmon is a great idea! They're both full of nutrients and healthy fats, but the flavours are very different. Easy to make heaps of different dishes with em. Enjoy!
Bart's Fish Tales thank you again!
Interesting. Trout fishing and eating it is one of my favorite things. Nice 2 see you in 2019. See you next Fishy Friday.
Thanks Shirley! Happy to get your first comment of 2019! And that you actually enjoy eating trout. There's a recipe in the box below as well, if you're interested. Enjoy cooking and have a great weekend. Cheers and see you on the next one!
Very good
Nice to get to see these otherwise inaccessible farms. It looks quite a process. Amazing the things that are happening to feed our ever expanding world population. Thankyou Bart. Happy New Year to you and all at Bartsfishtales.
Hi Gary, thank you for your lovely message! Also a very happy new year to you :) I hope to be showing you much more of these amazing projects this year. Have a great week and stay tuned. Cheers!
Very nice
An underrated channel. Love your vids!
Thanks Xinwei, what a compliment! Stay tuned for more vids :)
Fabulous, thanks.
No worries Paul, thanks for watching!
Super cool…. I was concerned that spring water would go through the farm and get pumped back into the river. But if it is used to irrigate crops after, that’s awesome, win win, free high quality orchid fertilizer how nature intended, and definitely the future of agriculture.🎉
Very interesting, more farms should get certified. I know what I'm going for if I have the choice.
Hi Arthur! I agree more farms should work in a sustainable way and therefore get certification. It's great to see there's already quite a fair group of farmes that take care of the environment, animal welfare but also working conditions for their employees. Keep you posted Arthur, on both wild and farmed fish! And cooking for course :) Cheers
Really amazing the way they growing fish and reuse of water, this is the best way to use resources ,by this we will make earth heaven and good place .. btw I m trout lover ...

Hi Stuart, thanks for letting us know. We did this just to make sure it's understandable for everyone. Hopefully you still got the story and I also hope I was able to make you enthusiastic about cooking with trout! The recipe link is in the box :) Enjoy your weekend!
Deaf viewers would appreciate it

Hi Vilhelm, thank you for your message. I try to alternate my videos. On the one hand I love making cooking videos, but I also want to show the world what sustainable fishing, and in this case sustainable fish farming, means. And how beautiful it is! No cooking video, but there's still a recipe attached in the box below. If you're looking for more recipes, please check out fish-tales.com or follow me on Instagram. Hope to see you for the next Fishy Friday! Enjoy your weekend, cheers.
@@Bartsfishtales Thank you, Bart. I had seen the video you linked. Enjoy your videos and maybe having the expectation of a new trout recipe, made me express my opinion. Maybe a sustainable fish farming and sustainable fishing channel is in order? or sprinkle it in with cooking videos but not in lieu of them?
@@Bartsfishtales Not looking to cause any controversy, but I like seeing the sustainability stuff! I get that this is a cooking channel, but the channel is called Fish Tales.. and there are many untold stories about seafood and how we are pressuring the things we love into nothing, Though, for how well-produced your videos are, I honestly don't know how little attention you guys get now :(. (Maybe you need more clickbait titles)
