Can’t be legal to achieve stripes like that 😱😳! I’m gobsmacked! Absolutely stunning!
Fabulous , I use verticutting and scarifying only as well as overseeding, fertilising and topdressing with sifted Jack's magic and sifted topsoil.
Daniel you are an incredible groundskeeper!
Stunning lawn care fella 👍🏻
Iam a gardener tho you'd consider my lawn a joke lol . Best lawn I've ever seen that good on ya dan
I bought Liverty43 this fall. I'm new to reel mower. I have been interested in this verticutter cartridge since I was suggested to verticut when overseeding by a rep of a seed company.
When mowing, never look down, fix eyes on furthest point you’re going and stick to that for straight bread
I use the verticutter cartridge on my allett Liberty 43 , the S setting only gets the blades a few mm above the soil. I made a pair of nylon front wheels like the ones supplied only at a smaller diameter. This brings the blades in contact with the ground (adjustable of course) for more of a scarify (when overseeding). I’m sure Allett won’t like the idea, but it worked fine and didn’t damage anything.
Will reply with detail if anyone is interested. 🙂
Please do, I’d be very interested in hearing how this mod works for you
@@ajc2100 can’t post a reply on the original post, but I would be very interested in knowing the solution. My Liberty 43 is exactly the same. Also do you notice that in the lower setting the grass box won’t sit properly?
@@mozza7189 I know what you mean re grass box. It has a tendency to ride up at the front lip in the lower setting. Just make sure it sits down close to the black cross bar before mowing. The mod I made was to make 2 front rollers like the ones supplied for mowing long grass, only mine are 45mm diameter (smaller than the 60mm ones supplied) I take off the long front roller and rake before popping them on. This allows the verticut to graze the ground ( essential for cutting lateral growth). I don’t know why Allett were so cautious, maybe because verticut blades aren’t as robust as scarifier blades and they want to prevent damage. I make sure the lawn surface is moist before doing it this way, it works fine! I should point out that I have a relatively small lawn, buying a scarifier is extra expense and a storage issue for a small shed!!
I’m also working on making a sliding hatch cover on the side panel so you don’t have to undo the 4 bolts to change cartridge.
Come on Allett !!
@@ajc2100 hi, please see reply I sent “mozza”
@@PJ-jg9bq were the wheels off the shelf. If not I’d be interested as to the process of making them.
its amazing how much the nap throws you. not seen that before!
hard on the arms ! if trying to fight it
It's just fantastic !!! What type of grass is it and the depth of cut ? Thanks
To strip like that it'll be Rye grass and looks to be 13-15mm
that does exactly what your scarifier with 4 wheels does..except it flattens it down after with the roller..which you dont want...you want it standing up so it can be cut..
I thought that too ???
I just bought the battery Stirling and the verticutter often stalls . I don’t have the most level lawn but my scarier on my Kensington has no problems. I raised the height but still had problems
Never had any issue but does sound like its digging in doesnt it
Yeah on one part it threw a whole lot of dead stuff into the catcher. Other parts the verticutter just dug into the lawn and I found out you have to have a certain amount of throttle to make it get the dead grass out.The other parts the verticutter dug in and stalled the mower. I can already see it’s helping the lawn . Can you tell me a Good ht to put it at? Maybe I should raise it at different parts of the lawn. When it worked well it filled the catcher in one pass through the lawn,. Do you know Roland Hall?
@@garythorington1600 no dont know him who is he or is it a place?
A verticutter should not enter the soil its for removing surface lateral growth
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert I just barely purchased it and I need to read the manual. Roland is the person who represents Allett sales in the USA
Question. I have an opportunity to a buy a really good Atco Balmoral with the scarifier cassette. Was wondering if I would be better off buying the Allett Kensington, most likely new, as I can’t find a good preowned, that will allow me use a Verticutter cassette etc. Basically is the Allett worth it just for the extra cassettes.
Hi Daniel, Ive been using your galactic green amazing results.... thanks for your knowledge. A quick one I have a lot of 3 leaf clover on my lawn, ive replaced a bit of it but I need a good spray to get rid of it. Can you suggest ? thanks :-)
Glad your enjoying the products, try the weedol lawn weedkiller
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert Thank you !
Hi Dan I know it was last year but what setting on the allertt cylinder did you cut this at? I don’t want to be going to short. Also I have verticutter do you still use that attachment?
1:38 use "S" setting.
Daniel, how man times do you cut in the same direction before changing and how often do you verticut and scarify during a season?
I get the wobbles also when working across the nap or as we call it the grain. Looks like I’ve had a few to many pints.
I’m going to have to try out your technique with the rotary then cylinder.
On this one its a few weeks before i change but i never go back on the way im going once burned in you just gotta stick to it
Ill verticut instead of changing maybe once a month
Are any of the products you use available in the USA? Your results are fantastic, well done.
Im sorry but the UK as a whole cant ship fertiliser to the USA its against your rules, i cant recommend anything really as haven’t a clue what you have over there, are ryan knorrs products no good?
I haven’t tried the Simple Lawn Solutions yet. I did get a 25 lb bag of his elite prg for a fall renovation coming up.
I have to use my Allett verticutter on the lowest setting to achieve anything, how about you? Still a good looking job considering the heat.
Yep as S stated in the vid, you must of skipped that bit 😂😂😂
And thats not a fault or anything its designed that way
Great video...could you just use a normal scarifier on the highest setting...???
Yes i do in other vids like the midseason renovation, bit more vigorous though, the verticutter good as it does little damage even of it catches
The scarifier does a different job to the verticutter. The latter cuts the stolons & rhizomes of the grass, promoting thick healthy growth and discouraging the spread of undesirable poa annua. If you search CZcams for "Allett verticutter" there are a number of videos explaining the difference. This lawn looks very new (and a great quality) so there is a lot less material being removed by either process than on a tired old lawn. It's an attachments that's used typically once a month whereas the scarifier is more appropriately used (on an appropriate setting) as frequently as weekly. At this time of year, there is a waiting list of several weeks for both attachments.
Hi Dan how do I send you a picture of my lawn to upload to your community channel ? Regards Glenn

Question: I have an opportunity to buy an Atco Balmoral with scarifier cassette. Is the Allett Kensington and the expense justified just to get a verticutter cassette etc?
Its the same mower and the casettes should fit
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert Really enjoyable vids Daniel. Unfortunately the ALLETT QC range of cassettes DO NOT fit the ATCO. And ATCO did not and does not make a verticutter cassette for their mowers.
@@williamwalker3837 if the other cassettes fit, then why wouldn’t the verticutter? I reckon Allett say the verticutter won’t fit the Balmoral is because the Tecumseh engine is too piss-poor to power it.
Anyone bought a second allet before? I'd like to get a Kensington or liberty but can't justify the expense of buying a new one so was looking online for second hand ones and theres quite a few available for £200-500. Anyone know if it's a good idea or not?
I would think if you can find one for £200 then jump at it 👍
what cut high are you cutting at??
Dunno bout 25 mm id say
Hi, would you always mow after verticutting?
Yeah as you get bits flicking up which need cutting
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert Righto, I always do but its nice to hear from someone else, Thanks.
Should the verticutter cut the soil? I have just picked up a Bosch 1100 verticutter and using it on its highest setting which leaves tram lines but not touching the soil.
I have a 17” Allett Classic and a 17” Atco Balmoral 10 blade but can’t get hold of a qx verticutter as they are like rocking horse s**t to find and very expensive for a new one. Is the Allett qx much better than the Bosch one.
Any advise much appreciated.
I have the Bosch 1100 and actually prefer a cheaper 2in1 scarifier/aerator. I find the Bosch just over heats too much (so power goes off for like a minute) can’t be done in any heat at all. Unlike my cheaper one I bought out of frustration, yet performs better at scarifying and verticutting depending on the attachment used
No not really should graze literally
Ive got another vid to do with that and the scarifier reel , its filmed just need to voiceover as mic let me down
@@stevea3200 the verticutting attachment
@@stevea3200 the scarifer and dethatcher are two diff cassettes
I’d love to get a verticutter cartridge for my Balmoral but they appear in general to be like rocking-horse sh!t!! :-/
This is my dilemma. I didn’t realise they were available for the Balmoral.
i will never leave you alawn
