- We find a couple of the biggest, most amazing fossil bones we've ever found on the beach along with fossil shells, fossil wood, agates and jaspers. Walk with us while we explore the ancient reef at the low tide, that is usually covered with sand and water, to find extraordinary fossils and other ground scores.

Maybe we live under a rock,, but we hadn't heard the term nursery rock before but we like it. Super sweet finds today. Looks like you got your work cutout for you on uncovering those bones. Thanks for the entertainment Karen!
May we all live under fancy, wonderful rocks. That being said, perhaps Nursery Rock is colloquial? I'm pretty sure I picked it up here from some of the salty beachcombers I was rubbing sandy elbows with. Thanks for watching, cheers!
That bone piece is awesome I can't wait to see what it looks like polished 🍻
It should be lovely. Sometimes you can see little fortification lines within the cellular structure. Thanks for watching!
Those were some amazing finds! I can't wait until you release the bones!
Yes, release the kraken! Or the bones! Or the dog! Or something! You know I was in a chat with Morne as soon as I found that cluster. We'll see what's in there in due time. Thanks for watching and hanging out for the live. Cheers!
Thanks for sharing another great video on the OC filled with amazing finds!
Thank you, Bryan! This place is such a pleasure to experience every time! The next video has some interesting critters for me to share. Thanks again for watching, cheers!
I truly enjoyed the walk on the beach with you! Great studio shots!
Thanks so much! it's always a pleasure getting down on the beach, never take it for granted no matter how many times a season we get. Thanks for coming along on the adventure, cheers!
Awesome finds, that vert and ribbed mammal bone is amazing
Thank you so much! I absolutely couldn't believe that those were found on the same day. I left no footprints in the sand on the way back to the truck, so stoked! Can't wait to do some prep on the bone cluster. Thanks for watching, cheers!
What a beautiful and interesting walk on the beach. Thank you for taking us along. You had me laughing at “It’s a bony day”. Would that someone you talked with be, Mamlambo? I love his videos as well. Cool stuff today Karen. Seems like Owyhee was being a really good pup on the lead, allowing mama to meander. It was too early to play the Steinkern drinking game, so I sipped on my coffee. Did you ever play “Bob” while watching Newhart?
Thanks so much! Gotta love the bony days and yes, I like to talk to Morne and a local guy here the most about these fossils. Owyhee is being pretty great for a puppy, if you caught the recent livestream, you can see he's got work too, lol. Coffee is great for the steinkern game and for sure playing Bob is a thing with Larry, Darryl and Darryl being runners up. Thanks so much for watching, cheers!
Thank you for sharing your video. Great finds. At 1:09 the rock to the right of your hand looks like a vert shape with a thin line of process sticking out. Thanks again
Thanks, that seems bang on. I think some vinegar will help to see what else is there if anything. I'll share the results, thanks so much for watching. Cheers!
Wonderful finds!!
Thank you. It was one of the best days down on the beach for sure. Thank you for watching!
Cool finds!
Thank you! Cheers!
Definitely do look like ribs
That tiny bean/bone agate
Wow
The ribs and verts cluster is going to be an interesting prep. It would be really neat to find articulation of any kind there. The jelly bean bone agate was so sweet. Thanks for watching, cheers!
I wish we had beaches like that
We are seriously blessed to be here. I pinch myself daily and when I start talking about wanting to move out to a sunstone claim, I remember how rad the beach is, lol. Thanks for watching, cheers!
@@OzoneFineArtVentures you are blessed! I would absolutely love to get out of Florida but with this economy and my disability, unfortunately I don’t think that will ever happen
Excellent video! Would you know of any reputable place that sales fossil Anadara bivalves? I collect various bivalves of different era's. Thanks for sharing this ❤️.
Thank you very much. The Anadaras collected from here cannot be sold legally so I don't know of anyone doing so. Sorry, that's not very helpful. Thanks for watching.
@@OzoneFineArtVentures no problem at all...I'll keep searching online. Love your shows...keep em coming!
What is the difference between a steinkern and the nice little spiral shell?
Hi there and great question! The steinkern is technically just the trace fossil of the shell of the creature (so some that I called steinkerns were more on their way than all the way there having some shell left). The ones where the pretty little spiral shell is present and there's matrix inside or outside are wonderful, good ole fossil shells (or gastropods, bivalves, etc.). Thanks for watching!
Do you get many crustaceans or sculpins
We get crabs, crayfish, and shrimp on the coast here, though the crabs are rare (because I haven't found one yet, lol). I have found either a shrimp or a small crayfish so far, need to do a prep on it to be sure. We do get lots of fossil mammal and fish bones of varying sizes and parts of the body. I don't know if any of the fossil fish bones I have are sculpin but there are sure tons of them in the tidepools now. Hope that answers your question, thanks for watching.
What beach is this? Thanks!
I usually don't say exact locations because the wash outs change daily/monthly/yearly and folks then complain that they went and what I showed wasn't there, lol. This is central oregon coast and the best advice I can give is hunt during the wash out season when it's safe (winter/spring) and drive the 101 looking for the gravel beds. That's exactly what we do here. There are also a few facebook groups and pages that share where folks have been finding things in real time. Hope that helps, cheers!
I want some fossilized bones so bad. If you ever go that way again, put on on the side for me Karen lol
Will do. Season starts again some time this winter when the storms decide to wash the sand off the beaches. Stay tuned!
@@OzoneFineArtVentures awesome! That mean another cool vid too!
