Loved all his stuff. I bought anything he touched, Even the Marvel Tales that were reprints of books I already had where he just did the covers. Bought Spawn up until #100. Was never really a fan of the character.
@@monolithgeometry3221it's not like he would own it if it was on paper I think it's cool to see how he does his art from zero, the way he gives birth to it and also to see how skilled he is on the digital tool while being an oldschool guy

willstak czcams.com/video/_lbsT21bGPA/video.html Probably the closest, we'll ever get to a McFarlane Spider-Man figure. Just know that it's very expensive to get now.
Damn, this just popped up in my suggestions. Remember watching these live when they debuted. Can't believe it's been 3 years. Congrats on the massive success on the kickstarter.
It might just be my eyes but it looks like he has a layer under it with the opacity cranked down. I could be wrong. Kinda seems like tracing another drawing
While moving the webbing from spidey’s jaw down to his neck, the artist did this magical thing, and almost subconsciously offset the webbing to give the face depth.
Todd Mcfarlane was the artist of the late 80s early 90s Spiderman run. Along with his creation of Spawn. For us guys and gals. We were so lucky to be comic collectors in those times. When the topic of the best Spiderman artist. Best believe Todd Mcfarlane's name is usually if not always #1 in the conversation.
The artist that got me hooked on comic books! Very first comic I bought was Amazing Spider-man #303, I was 15 years old. Was in the local 7-11 and the cover art caught my eye so I bought it then became forever hooked on Todd's artwork. I became a comic book junkie after that comic and grew up with other great artists like Jim Lee, Arthur Adams and Marc Silvestri. Awesome times!! Thanks Todd!!
That shadowing using photoshop opacity at the end is pretty intelligent... I always think of opacity changes as the 100% opacity and I will always revert back... but if you think about it like that...sort of a mind blowing thought process... Guess that's why he's The Todd...
I remember when I was young going to the comic store every month to pick up the newest Spiderman. That sideways one blew my mind. I must have drawn every position from 1 - 10 with those awesome webs. I learned so much more about line work from those pictures than I did in art class. For years I used to buy books to draw in, but now it doesn't happen. Seeing you do it on a video, awesome. Makes me want to draw again. I swear you drew him with a nose once or twice.
It woild be nice to see Tood do another Spiderman book cause no one draw Spiderman as cool looking as Todd but odds are we will never see another Todd Spiderman book again.
My "half" brother's dad once did an AMAZING Spiderman art in the early 90's. I wish he still had it. It was so inspiring. I can't draw to save my life. But my brother can draw AMAZING Original art.
I always respected you greatly for your stated desire and achievement to get him outta the black suit. While the symbiote stuff is probably some of the best stuff to come from the spiderverse as a whole, the black suit seemed kinda like a really easy way to cop out on all the web lines of his suit, which I found tedious to draw. Just thought I'd drop that while this video pops up in my feed
Mad skills . The best in the bizz I had the poster you drew of spider man in the 90’s . It’s the one where he is resting crouched in a massive web . That was the best rendering of spidey I have ever seen .
There some really nice ones on the market now for about $500-600 that are equal in quality to wacoms and the pricier brands. Oh, and that's for a 15.5" tablet. Do it :)
I still remember the first time i saw him in an intro to the animated spawn series and thinking "this guy is saying the kind of stuff I think about but people look at me me like Im messed up for it. How did he find people that appreciated his work?" Today Im still buying his comics and looking for my own group of nerds to make stuff with.
I’m not very into comics, but something about his art style is so appealing to me. I can only wish for a game or movie with this artstyle (if there hasn’t been one already that I don’t know)
hey Todd. you and Yoshitaka Amano have been my biggest artistic influence since middle school. I grew up reading spawn and playing final Fantasy. And when I got to college my tastes moved away from illustration to traditional fine arts like painting and portraiture. Recently I've been revisiting drawing comic book characters and found that I'm pretty dang rusty. Now I've been here before. I know I've just gotten comfortable with another style. but I love these videos you do. They're equal parts inspiring and informative. I've been in an artistic slump as of late but they've been exactly what I've needed. Okay, I've brown nosed a bit more than necessary. Your drawing is much different now from when I was younger. You've moved to digital and I was curious about that transition and your set up. Do you ever use a tablet? Do you have recommendations for a veteran artist that is used to the feel of paper and ink or canvas and paint, but is interested in joining this century and working digitally? I'm not current with computers but do you know any resources where I can learn more about specs for a computer specifically designed for art. My biggest issue to over come has been lag, I don't see it on your screen. Any answer you might have would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for reading.
When I was a kid I had bought every single McFarlane comic, even the GI Joe one. I had most of the Amazing Spiderman comics signed when the comic convention was in San Jose years ago. When I was older, after my dad was murdered and I didn't know where to live, a supposed best friend took every signed spiderman I had. I'm starting to find replacements but number 300 is unobtainable now a days.

Wow, it is cool to see McFarlane going digital and doing it competently, you have my respect Sir!

Drew Winslow there’s a better one. Medicom RAH Spider-Man, comic version. It’s extremely rare though.
The McFarlane Spider-Man design is easily my favorite. It’s the one I grew up with and it really gives Spidey a meaner-looking edge to him

Todd, lately I've been reading the very first Spidey comics you've drawn during the late 80s. The eyes have a lot of personality.
