More pose, more strobes in this awesome live rendition of one of In The Flat Field's more powerful numbers, this penultimate set closer reveals a tired and exhausted, but still fighting, vocalist. Future Tones On Tail Bass player Glenn Campling can also be spotted in this clip. Chris Collins once again in the directors chair- rolling the celluloid at The Old Vic Theatre, February 1982

#TheArkive #BeggarsBanquet #Bauhaus - Hudba
I fucking love Daniel Ash, his theatricallity, the way he moves, the way he plays guitar
He reminds me of hair metal guitar players but without all the glam
But, he was the one person I met and use as the story that meeting your fave celeb might be a bad idea. The image of the icon in your mind may be absolutely NOTHING like the person in you have imagined in real life....I was privy to a long dinner party with him - oh boy- my illusions were shattered...
@@ulsavonhunter9241 What happened?!

i love bauhaus and their imagery..specifically their use of stills from 20s silent films. their name taken from one of the greatest art movements of all time..and producing post punk that was pretty ahead of its time for the early 80s
oof
They were also considered pioneers in the Goth-Rock inception.
The best thing is: they made something new and awesome.
god, peter murphy is amazing. whole band is out of control, never fully gets their due.
When I was a teenager (14-15) I started listening to a lot of aggressive and dark music, mostly variations of metal, punk, and etcs. The first time something I heard really moved me (almost scared me) was when a friend's older brother lent me a cassette that only had "Bauhaus" written on it. He damned well didn't tell me what it was, he just told me: you who are always bothering me about things to listen to, "listen carefully": It was a homemade copy of In The Flat Field. After listening to that tape, I was never the same. hahaha.
thats the best definition of Stigmata martyr i have read so far ;)
That first line with that little scream always gets me, that shit is so fuckin hot and badass
Neil Fox well I wasn’t expecting to see noiz here but I’m not disappointed
Song is iconic! I loved when Angela danced to it in “NIGHT OF THE DEMONS”!! 80s WERE THE BEST!! 🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️
That's when I first heard it
Here because "Night of the Demons"
Still a good movie

daniel's barbed guitar sliding at the end is awesome!
one of music's most iconic voices.
Yes he is
one of the best bands I ever heard so original
Yup great band. I grew up listening to their music. This is one of my favorite songs by them. I like the darkness of it.
If you think that then try Primus! They suck! 😄😀
Cocteau Twins as well
Love Daniel Ash's guitar.
fail
This whole album is beyond great, way ahead of its time. One of my favorite songs of all time. I did and 8mm,film in college in 1984 with an awesome soundtrack, one if which was this song. Ahhh
These guys were my anthem and my compass through the early 80’s. Their music and action mirrored everything that was boiling over inside me during my fucked up 20’s
Hello. An ex and I saw them live. Perfect.
Thank you.
Night of the Demons! Angela's dance was everything.
You are right. I have the movie and I love it. So dark.
In a crucifixion ecstasy
Lying cross chequed in agony
Stigmata bleed continuously
Holes in head, hands, feet, and weep for me
Stigmata oh you sordid sight
Stigmata in your splintered plight
Look into your crimson orifice
In holy remembrance
In scarlet bliss
In nomine patri et filii et spiriti sanctum
In nomine patri et filii et spiriti sanctum
In nomine patri et filii et spiriti sanctum
In nomine patri et filii et spiriti sanctum
Father, son, and holy ghost
Stigmata martyr
Just watched Night of the Demons and this song made it 100% scarier.
Never could figure out the extra syllable or two that he adds in the benediction. Sounds like "O nomine patre esbit filii et spiriti sanctum"
Daniel looks so wonderfully dangerous there. I miss that.
So does Peter lol.
DAMN!!! They were so underrated!
They're still underrated tbh
I always thought David J. looked the coolest- like he was totally unaffected by anything- even his own coolness.
Agreed
I've seen them twice, once in the '80's, and once in the late '90's. If you get a chance, go see them. It's an incredible experience. I'm sure even at the age they are now, it'll be a blast.
I would love to see them even if they were dead, that would be awesome.
This is powerful stuff, We need this kinda of energy now.
If so, I hope you're holding.
I love the sound of the plectrum moving to and fro
just discovered this band, love it!
Welcome; they're one of the best!
Still as fierce as ever, love the music of my youth!
What a beautiful live performance!
This is just the perfect union of all that sound has to offer a listener. You feel it?
Love the addition of keyboards to one of my all time favourite Bauhaus songs.
Peter murphy dancing is so beautiful.
He clearly loves Iggy Pop
Couldn't have said it better myself. So I won't. Peter Murphy is the shit.
What an excellent band. So happy to have seen them a few times.
This is my favorite Easter song! 🐰
This is true poetry
One of the most literate frontmen out there...ever!!!!!
I miss music like this...🤘🏾 Hella good... love you guys
I looked and searched and cannot. Find music that you can play over and over and love it more like the amazing groups of the eighties
Early 90s
Une telle énergie s'en dégage, difficile de nos jours ou tout est prédigéré , de croire que de tels instants ont existé ! Les musiciens sont excellents de puissance , un punch non stop!
He sounds just as good live as he does recording. You won't see that today.
I'll be going to the reunion concert. Hope they'll still sound good.
I've loved them since late ' 70s. Especially this song,so powerful. I have the album, this video doesn't do it full justice. The song iis much longer than in this video.

Depends on where you look
I saw their short lived ‘04 tour and Peter sounded amazing
My very fav Bauhaus song ♥
Amazingly brilliant. Thanks for posting this.
@1:12 I love Peter falls and keeps going on like he intend to fall
He vogued right into it my god
Those guitars give off a metal vibe, very nice.
Feeling the music!!
One of the best bands of all time. That's just a fact, chiseled on the great rock wall of music.
The Music, the Magick and sadly the tragick, seeing that they cannot manage to not fight constantly. And by they I mean Daniel and Peter.........and by Daniel and Peter, I really mean Daniel being a goddamn Diva about everything and also worried about what they look like on stage rather than the fact that EACH one of them come together to make quite the rare moment and magic ingredients to create something supernatural. . . .. that "thing" that only a handful of groups could create.
Daniel? Everybody knows it's Peter who is the prima donna.
Awesome band, still have most of their vinyls too, thanks for posting.
amazing performer
My favorite goth band
This is art.
Peter Murphy is my dark gloomy prince 🖤
i love bauhaus........ and stigmata martyr....he simply radiates strength and power
Sensacional! Daniel Ash arrebentou!
I wish music nowadays was as daring as this
amazing sound and performance
Woah the start of this video was intense.
How are these guys so artistic!
Bauhaus just ugh 🥹
one of my favorite by bauhaus🤸♀️
Whooooaaahhh totally love the sound,💥🤘🤘plus Pete's voice and theatrics - what more can you ask for 🤘💚💚
Gosh this is timeless. Love the dark vibes 🧟♂️💋🙀😻.
That's a real band. That's real entertainment.
Beast of a group, man! 🖤🤘
Sorry folks, I forgot to mention Siouxsie and the Banshees "A Kiss in the Dreamhouse". What a work of art!! (musically, and the cover too). A must-listen, for young people checking out their musical roots.
Ok that was bad ass!
Thanks, Deadly Class.
I’ll never forget playing this in my room as a teenager and once the weird chanting started at the end of the song my mom started banging on my door saying what the hell are you listening to in there that devil worshiping music!! I was like no mom no chill out
Absolutely awesome!
Absolutely 100% correct! Just watched the movie, it's still a dumpster fire of a movie, which is why I love it so damn much!! Forgot all about this song, so here I am!! Very underrated song.
awsome
7 gigs in their prime 1 about 10 years ago .amazing atmosphere never to be equalled.proper showmen understated coolness bauhaus original goths
Got to see this song and many other Bauhaus songs live last year and holy shit was it an experience
This song rips.
Robert S Explorers Club and Future Tank more it riptides.
sniffin glue
I never got to see the one of the best
I was a part time dj in Chicago and am an older GenX and my husband is a baby boomer and was a Professional DJ and she claimed to hate Goth but I played lots of Bauhaus and I saw them once. OMG small club and the power and greatest “Goth” early. But most people may not know of Violent Femmes, 1st album best,
from Milwaukee ,check out the live videos.Ultravox yea, Ramones forever (short songs repeat simple lyrics you think but say so much more than anything the last 10 years with exceptions)
Saw then do this exact performance in a cramped basement of a Reggae club in Nottingham along with 5 others and a man with a flat cap and whippet. Scared me shitless! Spent time with them aftwrwards - lovely chaps. Over time apparently there were about 1000 in attendance 😳😳😳 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Peter and Daniel competing to be frontmen at the same time while the brothers are focused on the understated excellence of their music. Bauhaus ended as it should've and their only mistake was Go Away White.
Peter Murphy is the best Frontman ever !!!
Legend
My favorite
I love this song.
Oh fuck!! A glorious theme
Yes please
He's fucken great!
You're pretty fuckin great too

Bauhaus my love 🔥❤️❤️❤️
Peter Murphy is a god🖤
Que puedo decir amo los movimientos de Peter Murphy!!!! ❤
first hear on "night of the demons".....on my earliest years
I second that
Night of the demons bought me here
This song and the album it's on are arguably the birth of goth. And of course Bauhaus's album Mask. And of course Siouxsie and the Banshees albums Kaleidoscope and Juju. And I guess so many others eh what?
I looooooove iitt!!
Played perfectly. Even better than on the album.
Ace!
❤🖤▶️
Looks like an Egon Schiele Painting brought to life and struggling with its first steps
I was watching Night of the Demons when this song came one, and was like:
Wtf, Peter Murphy is that you?!
