First of all, a bill that was favorable to Republicans already passed the Senate and was available for the House to allow a vote. But Donald Trump said don't allow a vote, because it was going to add serious border security, and he didn't want that credit to go to Biden. That bill would have passed because it enjoyed strong Republican support. But now we're left with the last chance to do the right thing. A few short years ago, it was Republicans who stood most fiercely beside our allies. We were the ones who said we need to stop Russian expansion and stand up to Putin. Thanks to Donald Trump, republicans have now handed that over to the democrats. And frankly, we're very lucky that enough democrat politicians are willing to risk angering their voters by saying YES. Because the democrat votership is still not very keen on getting America involved in these world affairs. I am conservative, and just because Donald Trump proved that he could warp the minds of uneducated Republican voters does NOT mean I'm willing to follow his lead and hand the world to Russia and our other adversaries. Ukraine is our ally. So is Israel. I'm sad that border security was lost due to a man who only cares about his election. But I am in no way willing to abandon our allies because of it. Supporting Ukraine and Israel are good things. The money is there already for the border. What's already there is just mismanaged. Inner city schools could be fixed with school privatization/vouchers/enhanced trade education. Ironically the VA hospital system being bad is a product of it being government run. The feds will never hold their own spending accountable. Every time I start leaning toward medicare fo all I start thinking about how poorly the government runs anything it touches.
