Sorry, newb question. Etihad's Economy Space. What happens to unsold seats? What happens if they sell out the entire plane, but not enough people are willing to buy the Economy Space seats? Can it happen that some folks get those "expensive" seats for free? Or do the last people to book have to pay a higher fare and they get the Economy Space seats included with their higher fare? That seems like the fair way to go.

You should be able to see if you’re eligible to select a seat in Economy Space on the Etihad website or if your booking specifically mentions it. Economy Space seats are always at the front of the Economy cabin so check the seat map for those.
I’d assume any open Economy Space seats will be automatically allocated to standby passengers or those who don’t already have a seat allocation upon check in

@@theotherstuffchannel Thanks. Yes, I am eligible to buy Economy Space seats. I guess my question only applies if the fllight is near full. If the flight is near full, then it sounds like some lucky folks might get to select Economy Space seats for free - if enough folks aren't willing to buy them. Correct?

HI, Would you recommend buying economy space seats over the normal economy ones? I had a knee surgery so I must keep my knee straight hence i needed a bit more legroom. For reference I am 5 feet 11 inches tall. The economy space ticket is 130 dollars extra. Thank you.

If you need it, get it. It’s not worth it to take the gamble and hope you’ll be assigned a seat with extra legroom after all.
