  • Bob Hannah and Kasey Lindsay discuss The American Champion Scout…. why they own, fly and sell them. As the largest American Champion dealers in the world and pilots that actually fly “off pavement’ regularly they have a unique perspective, especially comparing them to the other two seat tandem aircraft on the market. There is more to the value of an aircraft than strictly takeoff and landing distance. “It’s really about the adventure”.

    I have to agree. Scouts are so underrated.

    They need more video's like this for the company's that aren't good with getting the word out on social media and CZcams. Companies like American Champ and Maule could really use more videos like this and it would bring them great success. Cubcrafters and Aviat have the media figured out and they are selling units left and right.

    Yalls videos are great on the Scout. I really wish yall could do a new one on an updated model while using the new Garmin and the auto pilot. Maybe a cross country video.

      No, it's not. But you could buy some salvage Scouts as parts and rebuild, which would be much the same.
      It's such a good bush airplane, many of them have been rebuilt and then exported to Africa. 🌍 🛩️

      You can finance airplanes to 20 years easily. This is a $250k plane. At 20yrs and a 20% down payment you can expect to pay $1200 a month. Another option is a used plane, a good option is the cessna 172 for about 70k depending on year, condition and upgrades. A used cessna for 15 year and 15% down payment is about $450-500 per month.

    • @dillonh321
      @dillonh321 Před 3 lety

      Option 2:
      Co-ownership the plane.
      I have seen some people by 1/7th shares of an airplane. But of course this means you are sharing the plane with someone else.

      @@dillonh321 My first airplane was a 350 hp Murphy Super Rebel, of course there was a woman involved, the rest of the story is self evident. Looking for another bush plane, just not interested in an overpriced stringbag that won’t carry anything other than yourself, a toothbrush, and some pest sitting behind you. Not interested in building one, not enough time left in front of me to fiddle around with. Only been flying since 2018 and been away from it for a year now since losing the Murphy. It’s unfortunate that bush planes have become such a cliche and their prices are just stupid! But, if they are in such high demand the market drives the price. I’ve been an aircraft mechanic for over 30 years and I’m a bit jaded. Super Cubs, huskies, scouts, etc etc, are point and shooters with no practicality. The Murphy would haul 1000 lbs, 80 gallons of fuel, two people and I’d land it regularly at about 45 miles an hour, and go almost 800 miles. The only thing the Murphy didn’t do well was go fast or pass a gas station. Another huge problem with the Murphy was the absolutely non-existent, combative, despicable customer ‘service.’ Dinged the rudder skin and those assholes wanted $1000 to have access to their technical data for the repair. So ya, will be buying in the next couple of months, just have to find the right sky scooter for the right price. A Cessna 172? Thanks, no, trained in it and couldn’t wait to get out of it. I would do a nice 180 though.
