He doesn't seem to be livin', til he sings "Mr. Tambourine Man", then those eyes roll over white, Mr. Sulu sees red, and despite all the Trekkies and Tribbles in the universe, Bill Shatner comes in and... rips you to pieces.

    The Devils Rain jar reminds me of the Satan jar/artifact thingy in "They Live". The portal in the basement that Satan is suppose to come through. John Carpenter must of really liked this movie
    If you think about it "They Live" has a few plot similarities.

      That's another Carpenter film, "prince of darkness". "They Live" is the one with Roddy Piper and the sunglasses that let's him see which people are actually alien invaders.

    From what I've seen, I think the only reason this movie's gotten any attention is just because William Shatner and the Michael Myers comparison. All in all a good review. Also after watching your review of Tales from the Darkside, I just came up with a possible future review. It's called Kwaidan, an anthology movie from Toho, and one of it's short stories might remind you of a certain segment from Tales from the Darkside.

    I love that the weapon of choice for that guy were shotguns shotgun. No specific reason why. I also just like shotguns to blast away the evil dead or demonic foes. Seems really effective.

    At one point he turns his eyes black which bears an uncanny resemblance to Michael Myers it's always been said that the Michael Myers mask used in Halloween was actually a Capt. Kirk mask painted white but it sure looks a hell of a lot like The Devil's Rain and The Devil's Rain came out the same year as the Capt. Kirk mask it's even more stunning to see that in The Devil's Rain he actually does 15:29 the famous Michael Myers head tilt coincidence or not it's pretty freaky

    Aton Levey was perfect as the technical advisor. We got a lot of the magical rituals and incantations of the Satanic Bible and the enochian keys.

    Great review. I genuinely like this movie, it looks beautiful and has a nice atmosphere. Apart from other stuff, Robert Fuest, who started out as a production designer, also did direct a few episodes of the british The Avengers TV series and the great movie And Soon The Darkness (the original from 1970, of course).

    The 70’s had some of my favorites, especially The Blood on Satan’s Claw (1971) and The Legend of Hell House (1973) although I’d hate to see them trashed, even for fun. However, if someone could make sense of The Mephisto Waltz I’m game. Even the book didn’t help much.
