MONTANA - a fly fishing film

- Finally made the trip out west.
This video takes place over 2 separate trips I took to Montana - one in September and again in early October. The days were substantially shorter in October which lead to less time on the water, however the fishing was outstanding. Coming from the east, you just don't have days like these.
Everything they told you about the west is true.

Although the video is entitled Montana, there is a segment that takes place on the Wyoming side of Yellowstone National Park as well. I edit to music because I can't shut up when I have a fish on the line.

Great action in one of the most pristine settings. Stunning views, and amazing footage
accompanied by well selected serene music. Very well done!
Many thanks! Glad you enjoyed it😊
Well done sir. One of the finest Montana Fly-fishing tributes Ive ever seen. Thanks for taking me back 30 years, when I was stationed in Montana and learning the sport for the first time.
Gary R, USAF-Retired
Thanks so much for the kind words! Glad it brought back good memories
A delight to the senses.
thanks for this video, it took me back in time. I lived in MT for 15 years. Fished the Bighorn a few times. Now in my eighties, I cannot do rocky streams anymore. Be good to your bones young man,
I’m glad you found and enjoyed this video! The bighorn came highly recommended. Some really nice fish in there. Next time
A fisherman's paradise. Beauty!👍👍👍
We’ll done!!! Love it.
Outstanding!
Thank you!!
Nicely done with the hook sets to the music
And a river runs through it!! Wonderful film, banished the winter blues, lovely wild fish those buttery browns, very well fished and nice to see them so carefully handled and released. Thanks so much, what beautiful country, cheers from the UK. ps you may be needing a bigger net!!.
Many thanks! 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Lord Huron and the canyon section of the Madison River is a perfect combination!
There are few better combinations in this world 😂😂
This is an underrated comment…
That scenery is mind-blowing! Wonderful film, thank you😎
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for the kind words!
Amazing!!
At 5:12 that fish in the background was a beaut, Awesome video
Ahhh love that little canyon. Loaded with trout too. Can’t beat it
Nice Video, thanks for sharing.
Absolutely love this, great job, and yes there's a little jealousy here lol, but I'll be out tomorrow again on my Virginia mountain streams, tight lines fellas
Some really nice streams in VA! I had a blast when I fished in Shenandoah NP.
Waited until Christmas Eve to watch. Worth the wait. Thanks!
Big thanks James! Merry Christmas! Cheers. New project in the works. Can’t wait to get to get to editing.
Really cool video! Captured the Montana lifestyle well. New subscriber here, keep it up!
Solid
The hole at 5 minutes 😂. That whole area, is my playground, meaning I'm just playing around when I go there, because I live here. I actually enjoy interacting with visitors, though most are too stubborn to take advice, even from a local. I've had 50 fish days in that canyon. Cool shots man.
Headed there this September for a month. First time and my wife and I are wide open for any advice from locals
@@Philsherrybowen 😆 you wouldn't believe the day I had there yesterday.
I might delete this comment.
Snow cone #16 #18

I'll say this about the day I had.
If you talked to everyone else, you'd think it was slow. Spin fisherman couldn't buy a fish. They are very particular about a perfect drift, they see a lot of casts.
I felt greedy after catching about 15 fish, including a bright red 21 inch male, right in front of a guy, so I gave him my spot. Considering he did not produce the same results, and knowing what I know, I concluded that this area in particular is going to reward your skill level in a practically measurable way.
Keep that rod bent. 🏔️🏞️
@@Philsherrybowen that's awesome you're coming here for a month in September. One of my favorite things in September is terrestrial dries on stillwater. They seem to come up shallow and cruise, can make for some great sight fishing if you can get the wind to cooperate. Great videos btw, enjoy the vibe. Like how you treat the fish too, great work man.
Great video, thank you. I love Montana fly fishing.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Just beautiful. Well done.
Beautiful footage!
Thanks Mike!! Hope you're doing well!!
I like the Persian song at the beginning, I grew up on that time, Semean,Ghanem!
My wife is Persian and she enjoys it too 😊
Great video. Awesome footage. I subbed to your channel. All the best from Argentina.
Awesome stuff thank you! Heading to Patagonia in February - any lodge you recommend?
Not much a lodge angler... But Río dorado un Junín de los Andes it's very good from what I had heard @@northeasternfly
@@oldsmugglerflyfishing me either, but I already went! Made a video about it
Great video - thanks!
Thank you!!
Very nice footage. 👌
And I like the way you treat the fish. Excellent.
@@briljantje9583 thank you! Gotta show em off really quickly.
Amazing 👍🏽
Nicely done! New sub
Awesome, thank you so much for the kind words!
Gave it a like and a subscribe. Loved the footage and all the beautiful fish.
And as for me, I'd much rather hear your comments while hooking, fighting and landing a fish, as well as the natural flow of the water, birds chirping, and nature's "orchestra," than artificial music. Thanks for posting.
I would love that too! I unfortunately I hate my own commentary. I make grunting noises while bringing in fish I've noticed since I've started shooting too which again, is off-putting. Glad you otherwise enjoyed the video!
Went to Montana for the first time this past July. Immediately got Covid. lol. Besides feeling like shit the whole time I did enjoy fishing the little creeks back up in the mountains around Paradise and St. Regis, though the biggest fish I landed was a 14” cutt. Did spend a day on the Clark but only landed one fish all day lmao. Did hook an 18ish cutt that broke off at the boat. I’m ready to start tying again to get ready for next season now that bird hunting is pretty much wrapped up here in Wisconsin, can’t wait to get out again, I’ll probably be dodging ice once it opens up again here in January!
Same thing happened to me when I visited the Shenandoah valley for some brookies. Sick as dog. Made it as far as I could but was very limited. Before that magical cuttie day a 14” cut would’ve been a dream of mine. I didn’t ever expect to net a 22” Yellowstone cuttie. There was also a section of this video where I hiked deep to an alpine lake in search of golden trout - I found them. But they wouldn’t bite. Had all of this beautiful footage I had to scrap.
Good video! The music really set it off, and kept me watching. Thanks.
Thanks!! I tried to make it appropriate for the scenes.
OMG! That last fish...what a BEAST! Nicely done. Beautiful scenery and gorgeous fish.
I agree with a lot of people about the music. But I also understand your reasoning, if you don't like your own commentary when landing your prize. My 2 cents...I would keep it to stuff that is mellow and smooth, to compliment the scenery and the activity. "World Ender" was annoying and just kind of ruined that section of video for me. But the rest was much better.
That last fish is one that I’ll never forget! Thanks!
Nice video dude
I love this video! Montana looks amazing, and I personally love the songs you’ve chosen. Chapter 6!!??? That could be a film all on its own. Gave me chills!!
Ahhh thank you so so much!!! That would be my favorite too haha
So, I have maybe a part of a day of fishing on a road trip through Montana/wyoming around Tetons/yellowstone. Any suggestions on location?
Great footage, great music. Keep up the fantastic footage!
Thanks so much! Appreciate it. Working on the next one already
Incredible soundtrack. I got lost in it
Thanks so much for this! It’s hard to select the right music.
Dude the soundtrack is magical... Can someone make a playlist on CZcams music for me?!
Absolutely man, shoot me a message on IG!
What camera and lenses do you film with?
believe it or not..all iPhone 14 Pro and Go Pro hero 8
are you fishing dry flies? or nymphs?
Both! Mostly nymphs through this video.
@@northeasternfly but you are doing euro nymphing? where the indicator is a different colored sighter?
@@25falcons I didn’t have room to bring 2 rods so I just brought the 9’5. Sometimes dry dropping, sometimes under an indi - just depending on water type.
All around good video. Maybe a bit of narrative of where fishing, flys, etc would make this a complete experience.
That’s for watching! I hear ya - I really just make these tapes for fun. More like an edited fishing journal. Happy to talk fly anytime on my instagram. 🤙🏻🤙🏻
Who is the soundtrack??? Great stuff
Check the info in the description
God created those fishes to eat them not let them go away after this much hard work, Lol Great video i liked it very much.
⬅️ Balik bizim işimiz 🇹🇷
Where is your bear spray?
On my waist! Only needed in the section with the cutties
@@northeasternfly valid. Not every area has bears.
So beautiful, But did not enjoy the music, would have liked you to talk about the fish and bait.
Easy eh!
que peces tan pequeños
Может Обама по соседству домик себе в Монтано купит.
why you free all the fish? normal people eat them
Yeah
As a Montanan, please visit. But don’t immediately start looking for “property”. We’re being overwhelmed and the Montana of your imagination is being destroyed.
ok
Grow up
Lost me with the music………the sound of the river would be just fine.
I talk too much when I net fish. There are plenty of videos out there for you without any editing.
It's not really a film. You don't have a character. Your don't have a story. It's just a series of semi linked shots.
LOL a film refers to a motion picture. Thanks.
my home
nothing like montana browns
