  • Hi there! In this video, I demonstrated the most fundamental sculpting tools provided in the terrain tools, and a few tips and tricks have been included.
    The terrain tools provided in Unity allows us to quickly sculpt and design beautiful landscapes for players to explore. It is so powerful and is complete free to use. Terrains are especially useful for open world and 3D games. In this series, I will be introducing its amazing features and demonstrating the design process of a 3D terrain.
    This series is provided free and is targeted for beginners. It includes the latest version of the Terrain Tools package provided by Unity, as of Dec 2022. Follow this series and level up your game!

    Dude great vid! I’ve been trying to find starting-from-scratch terrain tutorial vids for a while now and haven’t been able to find a teacher that explains concepts and tools from the ground up that I’ve been happy and satisfied with. Your vids are by far my favorite and most helpful :) keep it up man!

    Thsbk you so much. The biggest problem im having is the view. I cant seem to get the view the where im looking at it from above. There for i cant look at my scene entirely. Am i missing something on my approach

      Hi! I believe you are trying to see a large scenes from very high above and the scene may be too far away from the camera. To be able to see the whole scene from far above, you could increase the "Max" setting of the scene camera's clipping plane.

    I had a problem with terrain neighbors not sculpting when I go over the edge of two adjecent terrains, so only one would sculpt and othed have a hole in it. Do you know why this happens?

      Hi, since the paint brushes apply the same amount of edit to the terrain vertices, if the two terrains are not continuous, there will still be a hole. You could try using the smoothing brush to close the gap, or use the “set height” brush to align the terrains to a specific height.

    when i lower the terrain to make a pond, it lowers it way too much.
    how can i lower/adjust to just lower it slightly to obtain the smooth surface underneath.

      Hi, you may reduce the brush strength to make fine shape changes. Another method is to use the set height brush to enforce a specific height.

    The part where you raise the terrain by 100 so you can build lakes and rivers, is there a way to do that if we have already built mountains ect on the terrain?

      In my experience, that cannot be done directly. However, you may use a script to raise all the vertices in the TerrainData.

    Is it possible to create a terrain on a sphere?

      Hi. The built-in terrain system only supports terrains on a grid. 3D modelling or procedural generation are needed for spherical terrains.
