  • After 1 week 4k60 finally available
    SIR R44 heading towards Saint George Terminal from Tottenville
    At St. George Terminal connection is available to the free Staten Island Ferry heading towards Manhattan which gives you access to the entire NYC Subway System
    Buses that start and end service here include the S40, S42, S44, S46, S48, S51, S52, S61, S62, S66, S74, S76, S78
    Limited bus routes that also terminate and begin service here are the S81, S84, S86, S90, S91, S92, S94, S96, S98
    I would've liked to add announcements but the conductor wasn't giving any announcements and was only saying "watch the doors" which is understandable, I guess, since it wasn't very busy at the time of filming
    Had to ditch the speedometer because it was starting to be super inaccurate and wasn't usable

      Yea same I've only rode the SIR once before this video.
      Also I was reading comments on other videos about the staten island railway and I saw a few that said the overpasses were still there but those comments were from 4 months ago.
      So I'm assuming they tore them down just recently at beginning of this year 2022

    Wow this is a neat perspective, from the deck just above the coupler!
    Last time i took a trip on the SIR was back in the early 80s before i moved to Cali, when many of the stations were still wooden: So neat to see the stations having been rebuilt and the whole line refreshed!!
    I take it the SIR has completely transitioned off of the old block signaling system? I can see the spots where the signals were located with the boxes between the tracks and i see signals near switches, but none were lit
    Real neat the little speedo in the upper left, that disappeared after awhile i see...
    Thank you SO MUCH for providing these views!! Lets me see things i cant do from 2k+ miles away!!

    Does St. George Terminal really need that many platforms? Maybe they can all be replaced by one wide island platform and the line can curve west and RCB Ballpark could be restored. That way, St. George can become a through-station rather than being separated with a wye like Hoboken on PATH. This is because the line could continue north of the island as it used to go there.

    • @edwardp3502
      @edwardp3502 Před 24 dny

      The Ballpark Station is literally 200 feet west of St. George Terminal and was a complete waste. Fully 95% of SI train and bus riders go through St. George. The old North Shore line is dead and ripped up in many spots and ain’t never coming back. Any $$ should go to new trains, buses and station improvements for the current MTA properties.
