I completely agree with everything Kendahl is saying about looks after your middle age. My grandma never would cut her hair bc she would say that her husband liked it long, and only 4 years after he has died she has started to cut it short. It's WILD how much that just like sticks to you after so long
The leg shaking is a type of stimming! Repetitive, self-soothing behaviors that *everyone* does, though the term is usually associated with neurodivergent people because we tend to stim in ways that are more "obvious" than the more socially acceptable stims like leg shaking, foot tapping, hair twirling etc.
Me and my bf met on a videogame 🤣 never seeing each other's faces. Then eventually we video chatted (like once for like 2 minutes lol before I got scared and hung up 😭😭) then after talking every day for months, he drove 11 hours to meet me and now we live together and have been for 2 years ❤

Okay love, but maybe the main issue was the being a LESBIAN going on dates with MEN? The theatre didn't have anything to do with those dates going well, lets be real🤣🤣
i have literally had that exact feeling about movies as a first / early date and im so glad someone else feels the same way!! you already want to go see the movie, it allows you two hours to get comfortable in the other person's presence without pressure, and if you get a drink or food or something afterward you automatically have something in common to talk about! and once conversation gets going and that first hurdle is cleared its very easy to keep it going and move to other topics
I told my boyfriend (of almost 6 years now) to not come to our first date bc i found out I was 1.5 hours away from him right beforehand and felt so bad. He read the text and didn’t respond and pretended he was already on the road. It’s the cutest creepy thing anyone has ever done for me and it worked! Just embrace it.
Kendahl, own that assertive dating, girl! I’m the gay male version of you. Lol. I was always the first to reach out to a guy. I actually matched with my now husband twice and he wasn’t feeling it the first time but my persistence worked. 😂

27:53 honestly the words “i hate small talk” fill me with so much rage especially as someone with social anxiety. the implication is that the reason small talk exists is not because it’s a natural part of getting to know someone who’s a stranger to you but something people _like_ to do, so the reason _they_ dislike it is because they’re so special and different. it feels like a backhanded way of the person saying “you’re boring/not as _intellectual_ and _deep_ as me” while also introducing a high standard of what should or shouldn’t be said around them lest you risk saying something too “small”. if you hate small talk, just talk big. dont put that on the other person. rant over haha
right? it’s kinda presumptuous too, like we are strangers why do you feel like i owe you intimacy or vulnerability off the bat? i feel like the most charming people can make the small talk seem so interesting. it’s almost like people who don’t like small talk don’t know how to bond over a superficial conversation so they need to force the intimacy immediately by insisting you talk more deeply. and i LOVE meeting people where you immediately feel comfortable talking about anything, but that’s when it’s actually happening naturally not when someone is insisting on it but not providing it.
Just wanna say: I love both of your content, didn't realize you were together, and saw your episode with Brennan and Izzy (and I'm also a huge fan of both of them) and gasped seeing all r of you in the same place. Now this is my third episode in 2 days and I'm fully invested in this podcast now. So glad I found it!

lesbian here, on a dating app i was talking to one girl for a bit, the convo (which was about anime and nerd things mind you) had her like "oh what were your weekend plans" and i said smth like doing a dnd session yadda yadda, i asked what her plans are--weeks pass of no response from her (which i was like cool moving on idc) and then suddenly one day she just put "you're such a loser." full stop, no context or preamble, i woke up to that and thought she was joking at first and my brain went through the stages of realizing she was serious. so i just put something like "that sure is something to say to someone! i didnt even get to hear your fun weekend plans 😋" meanwhile irl this affected me bc im actually a people pleaser and did NOT have the confidence for this. but she actually apologized with excuses about herself later (that she was just tired and scrolling and etc) and was actually asking if id still talk to her after. in which case i was like haha nah, the fact youd say that to someone in this kinda way really speaks volumes to me.
bro my mind was blown though--i obviously havent experienced a lot or been around a lot of assholes because i just dont keep this brand of person around me but it was wild and also kinda funny to me later, and almost certainly because behind a keyboard it's so easy. this isnt to scare people from online dating tho ill probably still try it, just made me hesitate for a WHILE after that

44:07 Yes, I went on a date in college and when I showed up for the date she looked very different. I didn’t even recognize her and it turned out she used pictures from when she was in high school on her dating profile. I left the date and just did not reach back out but that always made me feel weird and uncomfortable. To show your best self I totally get but to put underage pictures of yourself up next to an age of 22 is not cool!!
