As far as the brake fluid cap, wonder if an aquarium air line check valve would work. They are fairly easy to replicate with tougher materials if need be. They are intended to prevent a gravity fed water siphon back up from occurring so I am sure they would handle a job like that (especially made from metal or higher heat resistant plastic)
To sum all up. Don’t drive it when is raining and you should have a garage for it. You’re welcome.
+Jorky Gonzalez Basically. But I’ve gone to a drift event on a clear day and ended up soaked from rain
Exactly
Thanks, saved me from watching the entire video.
😂 right
I think death carts are practical in the sense that you don't have to worry about curbs and driveways, unlike with a daily driven sports car that's sorta low. I think you can make carting work for you if you got a Camry daily on the side.
ok so he's a little outta his mind but i like him
Moe Fucka ✌️
You should look up how rock buggies, cab trucks and juggys are built. Everything you just named off is easily avoided.
+off road specialties I’ve been working on a lot of the issues. They’re just things that need to be covered when you do make a kart because typically most people just think about the cutting and Fab work
Put a Tractor Flap on the end of the exhaust so you can drive it In the rain... Also it would be cool if you put a set of slicks on the 240 Death Kart and go to the Drag Strip, I'm think low 11s/High 10s in the 1/4 mile. Keep up the good work and shout out from Dallas Texas
Most of the downsides can be eliminated if built with the proper non-corrosive materials, and covered after use.
Been wantkn to build one since Roadkill did the VetteKart, wanna do some kinda long travel suspension tho, would be a blast in the desert
I'm planning a Ford 460 C6 9" rear with just enough tube to hold it all together. Full roll cage but as lightweight as can be sorta safe. To save weight, single seat.
Great idea with the marine gages when you do the rewire. Did you ever consider enclosing the engine or putting a pan around it? Maybe something like the atom? Pretty cool stuff! Great job!!
Thanks! That’s the idea for when I get back to modifying it
I want one of these since I saw this on a recent tuner mag, not only their fun & easy to work on but just unique especially since I can't afford a slingshot. I want mine rwd. I'ma definitely check out channel 4 this build
good things to think about before building. I'm thinking of one from an mg midget and doing an sr20 swap. I have a vg30 that just might fit too. fully paneled the car weighs 1800 lbs so even just 300 hp would be insane
Josh May that sounds sick!
Always had an interest in things like this. But usually all I found was dune buggies. And really never thought about building my own lol. I've always wanted my own version of the manix dune buggy or even like a formula 600 race car with no body. But this kind takes the cake and finally found people doing videos.
They're super fun! I want a grip race kart eventually!
I started a crx death kart a couple weeks ago, gonna use it for autocrossing. Alot of very good points tho, I'm gonna have to go rethink my wiring looks like lol. I have video of cutting the body off on my channel, maybe you could take a look and tell me if I fucked up? Lmao
Looks like you did a decent job with it!
Thanks man! Gotta cut some more and make that dreaded dom order lol
Thanks so much man. This is what i needed to know.
Thank you for the info. Thinking about doing one as my own
i started a sandrail mid-engine deathkart two years ago,W/ a 1776 new motor, down from a 2380 that self destructed ,although i didn't know the name DEATHKART it fits well my car.
i just need a roll bar to compete in autocross,i think it will do good.
i started with the idea of a poor mans atom, but this is much better!
Can’t wait to start on my T-bird 4.6 kart. Doing a Mazda 5 speed super coupe swap, probably going to leave it 4 seats and just lift the rear since it’s independent.
I like this guy reminds me of shaggy from Scooby doo. Great vid👍👍
Thought I was the only one
Yo, im pretty sure i saw you at imi a couple months ago! I recognised the sword shaped hydro e-brake and it popped into my memory
Ever thought about building a rat rod style kart? I have a 1946 Chevy truck I want to build into a rat track monster
So when build kart stainless steel braided hoses cables etc route exhaust differently marine grade wiring don't store outside don't drive in rain look into uv protection options for seats and harnesses and when driving it around town assuming it's legal be careful of cops and look into a cover for it
Can you send the measurements of the iron you use and the death kart I am making one and I don’t understand how to do it with out the measurement .. please and thank you
Thinking about turning my 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.9 into a death kart
Do it
I have an '02 4.0 that’s lowered on Subaru style suspension (springs and struts front and rear) and it’s Rwd lowered 4 inches and it’s my rally car....could be cool
Death Kart OG lol weird, nice. I wanna make a cart from an Audi Coupe Quattro with a I5 20vt. But I can't even seem to keep my DD(daily driver not Dunking Donuts) and my vmild' project cars going at the same time so I've got some shit to do. Thanks for the vid. Definitely helps to know some of this stuff before jumping in in head first.
One thing I didn't realize is that theses death karts as you call them are not tube frame, but an actual carcass of a car, with added tubing to make it less deadly lol. I love it!
That would be an awesome kart! Yeah a lot of people mistake them for a tube chassis or a sand rail style
Simply carry a rainsuit and rainX your visor. Would ATV/UTV gauges work being that they are exposed to elements often?
Should, but the power to them might blow it out cause they run on different styles of circuits
Just bought a Corvette to turn into a death kart...Cant wait!
Hahaha death kart og please. Id love to chill if your in Colorado. I'm in NoCo
Matte are u silly I'm still gonna send it took my mustang off the raid and now dailying my truck so time to start my death kart build can't wait for ur build breakdown and I'm gonna do all my wires and a aluminum hood panel and roof panel lol it's a 03 mustang gt wit a 5.0 and manual trans with bullet wheels lol and I got a shop I can keep it in but I'm gonna start the build in a few weeks
+Kenny Banks Hell Yeah! Just wanted people to make sure they knew what they were getting themselves into first!
So true man I kno and will suffer I guess lol add me on snapchat and IL show u the build yetiyota is my snap thanks for the reply man and as I go IL take everything I kno and from dune buggys growing up and build a decent kart I need to find a good steel shop in Daytona beach tho I got some from exocages but need Moore
You can make a mold off your frame to use to make carbon fiber panels.
Sounds like u need to more of YOU bro! Obviously ppl are interested so put the work in on YOUR shit, we'd love to see the beasts ur built to build brother. U got us bro, enthral us.
Thank you so much! I'm just seeing this but I got you!!
I dont wanna do it off an already car chassis, i wanna do a rotary version of the sr20 drift kart off 1320 videos channel, just for fun as im getting a b2000 mazda pickup rotary too
SBM Crew I'm friends with the guys who built that cart. You can ask them to build you one
Enrique Diaz you know an average price cost for them to do that?
Blanco Escondido not 100% but for the coyote they built on 1320video it was around 9-10 grand for everything including engine, chassis, suspension, cage, and a all the other stuff, they also have a supra version with a 1jz but I'm sure you could do a different engine
Let me ask, if I was to actually have a full exhaust coming out the back and was the change to a marine wiring and seal everything up /dielectric grease everything, would that solve a lot of the cons?
Also what about some kind of coating or wrap on the gas/ rubber lines to protect from UV? We know that good AN lines would be better but may not be best for a budget kart build at first.
pospc2 that solves some of the issues. Most of the plastic and rubber parts still don’t like uv
@@6berries thanks for the response.it makes sense. Most of it doesn't typically see direct uv light.
@@6berries thanks for the response.it makes sense. Most of it doesn't typically see direct uv light.
I always wondered why people don't make a tarp cockpits for exocars (maybe aero?)
DF Goblin for the win
So say when I do mine I make a fiberglass shell and keep the stock windshield possibly be a better idea? Lol gonna do it anyway because racecar but might drive on street as long as I can legally
That’s more of a tube chassis vehicle than a kart at that point but still could be a rad build.
Yea for sure body would mostly be for street driving so I don't have to worry as much about cops hood exit exhaust is legal so just gotta ask and check about the laws here in Ohio
Well legal as long as it's turbocharged
Easy would u drive ur old go kart to work? I know i would if i had one.....
Came across your video researching. I plan to build a death kart out of a salvage g35. I figure if I get the body parts I need for a project car of mine then the death kart would be better then scraping the entire car. Aka have some fun with it first.
bought a car from auction and didnt intend on doing a kart but its useless if i dont. build starts on here in a week!
I want to get a mustang and death cart it not as a daily or anything do you think it will work?
Yeah it's definitely doable. it's cool that you start with a V8 but the suspension isnt the best
Matt 6berries very true I'll probably try get a good set of coilovers
Mustang death cart= Crowed death cart
if by "am wide band" your saying your guages use an AM radio signal? alot of radio frequencies get put off by the rain it has something to do with the buildup of static in the atmosphere i think or maybe just water's natural refraction properties.
themodmancarl “AEM” brand wideband. Sorry I wasn’t clear
oh no my mistake i musta misheard
Awesome. Be safe have fun.
great vid
Can u put a hood and Windows
My Concerns with rain driving is the engine suching in water though the intake
Hey, try using RTV on all open/non insulated contacts with RTV. Seals well and orals off easy
Not a bad idea! Thanks for the input
Sorry, I was hammered. Ment it peels off easy. Used it a lot when I was in the army. We would glob it on open posts and even the battery termenals. Ill be watching, I'm interested to see what y'all come up with. Kick ads project tho
We are still gonna try to make the trip down with our kart @s13death hope you would be down to have a street session! Our LS will be back in this week and we have lights now so we should be kinda legal!
+FAB TOWN that would be awesome! Not many street spots around here but we can go to the track any day of the week!
FAB TOWN Fancy seeing you here!
What about making some cheapo clip on fiberglass body panels?
Mr. Ailuropoda too much money for what it is. And a lot of work to make them look decent
I had this idea when I was like 10 lol. Should’ve jumped on it
I've thought of something similar but I would try to keep the "cabin" whole and water tight ... or as water tight as possible kinda like a jeep. I'm playing with ideas and sketches and waiting for the opportunity to pounce on a miata for cheap. I'm a big guy so the interior mainly console and dash will go or be heavily modified. I'm still playing with ideas... excuse my rambling thoughts as ignorance lol
I agree with you but then you lose a lot of the driving feel of a kart
@@6berries yeah, maybe I'm having a hard time migrating from a mini truck to a kart... as being fun to drive
Both are fun to drive in their own ways. A “kart” with an enclosed cabin is just a pro drift car without body panels
so your saying if I live in Arizona where shifter karts are legal, this is something I should definitely do with a random s10 I have lol
Good video man. I’m Looking into doing a kart with an e36. What’s your snap?
Find me on Instagram @6berries
Could I to this to a car and add fiberglass body panels?
Jim Chance yeah definitely
anyone know where I can go to find instructions/cost and what I need to know to make something like this?
I started making some how tos on them
Matt 6berries thanks
What about a really thin stainless steel "hood" and "roof" made from sheet metal? Nothing really structural but enough to get rid of a lot of the problems you listed?
I don’t have an English wheel and I think a flat sheet would look cheesy
Matt 6berries you could carve some foam to the shape you want and make a fiberglass body too. Just a lot more time extensive and more money
I do like that idea and have considered it before but it’s just a lot of time to make it perfect
Where can I purchase a chasi like that for the motor
Craigslist or facebook marketplace
Brapa pnjang jenggotya om?
what part of colorado? I'm in the springs, we should collar sometime.
WaynesWorkVlog I’m in Loveland! I’d definitely be down for a collab!
the only video on youtube people don't pretend
You had me rollin when you showed the clip of hitting the puddle, you should edit in the whole "it was at this point he knew, he had fucked up" audio in and slow mo it right when you see the puddle. Shit would be too perfect ;)
That would’ve been so perfect!
Why not have a hood? A plexi windshield? And maybie a plexi tinted roof? Still not water tight but way better with U.V. and rain.
Well those issues are not issues just lack of planning. Tractor flap for the turbo exhaust, wiring just put it in looms (they are cheaper than rewriring the cart.) Put a roof on maybe add a windshield. Just use plexiglass for both. Buy tarps to cover your seats and harnesses if you do not wish to put it in a garage
Justin Hancock But a lot of people don’t plan that stuff out. I know there are fixes to every possible issue but I wanted to put these out there in case people didn’t think about them
This one time, at bandcamp....
So other words love the vid btw lot of good pointer . But other words don ride it the rain . And two put some kind of inner fenders in the back ? And 3 cover up or make sure ya wiring is protected.
Maybe Put a flapper on the up pipe to keep water out.?
Is that your shop this was filmed in dude? That's a nice place
Zane Ridley yeah it is! Check out some of my newer videos! We’ve upgraded it quite a lot
Good video, 🇦🇷👋
What motor do you have in it?
Ka24det
I'm planning a death kart project, but going to drop a vintage car body on the top of it.
I fully support that!
I'm in Cali so it rains like twice a year
Cali, really?
Im working on my own shit car-ish?!? I like what you've done here my friend stay at it!
Put a damn roof on it then...
TheSlapShow no
lol that’s what I thought.
I need to find a place to do my Porsche Cayenne 2006 twin turbo sport lol
Epic Garage let us do it. I’d be so hyped on that!!
How do u get it registers registered for the road?
gnarly tek go to the DMV and register it
Matt 6berries
Register Under car or gocart which one
Hmmm put a windshield in the car, a sheet metal roof. ( rain taken care of) put marine gauges and stereo in it. ( electronics taken care of) put a flapper on the exhaust or run the down pipe down. Weather pak electrical engine connectors. It can be done the right way, just have to spend the money to get it done.
Scott Watson The rood wouldn’t really take care of rain since the sides and front are still open. The others are options but not something most people immediately consider
Leroy the savage is the deathcart god
word
Yes for the build but I'd consider road the kill since they started it. And they even do it to a vette so there the real kings aka pironeers
All the practicality and speed of a motorcycle, but takes up more garage space.
How much does it cost to build a death cart. I’m really considering it!!!!! But I have a ton of projects and would want to keep the build super low... it is possible without a ton of knowledge.
Same practicality of a motorcycle, but safer.
I couldn't imagine someone thinking doing this to their daily being a good idea.
Yeah people have some bad ideas
nice shirt, where'd you get it?
Google Cendrum that’s a Ross special right there
Special it indeed is!
I love our Miata death kart . The kart is on our channel ps we are in the proses of making more videos
The only down side to this is safety. Specially if not welded properly.
I own a kart. Its not practical but sooooo fun
You get it!
We did this to very bugs back in the seventies. A 1600 bug would go like hell cause it was like 700 lbs wet. (It was always shortened. ) this is nothing new. But, buuut, buuut, buuut . Lol
Where in Colorado are you?
Loveland
The cart is sick nasty. But the lack of traction is one of the cons you forgot to mention. It is killer for tire wear but crap for high power skids
ron nowlin Sort of a good point but the BMW kart gets amazing traction due to good weight balance and lower moment of inertia
So basically dont take it out in the rain. Dry summer days. Got it lol.
I’m building a 2002 clk 430 300hp/Tq. Death kart✌️
STACY BENTON That’ll be dope!
I’m doing it with a 2003! You should post videos
My states law says exhaust must go to the last door. But no law for requiring doors. No cracked windshields but no law requiring windshields. No law requiring hoods. Fenders are required but defined as covering wheels, so no fender with metal flares welded to the frame horn is legal. Mirrors are requires but not on doors so Fender or frame horn. So hood dump is legal if you have no doors with fender mirrors however you install them 🤣
Death Kart All The Things!!!!
Maximum Driftcast YES!
Put a coffe can on your tailpipe. Old guys with straitpiped heavy equipment do it all the time and have for decades.
Dude.. You gotta look INTO the lens, not the screen next to it :D it looks weird =)
I’ll try that next time! You do have a point haha
Mantap bang
Mantap bang
The ptw ratio is 1hp to 4.5lbs
Great. Thanks for the info. Gonna go build one now and get killed
Albert Papikyants Right on
Hi Matt
What you need to know before making a youtube video.... SOUND LEVELS!!
This was my first time making a video like this. Learning as I go
He really want to be a og
Fuck Yeah speed warehouse and roadkill were built before I did mine
Don't leave it outside and don't drive it in the rain. Same as driving a Atom or any track day car. Race it in the rain but just dry
It properly and use wd40 on things that will rust. Also change the hater pipe or put a truck flap on it. All the things you mentioned are not really a reason not to build one. There are heaps more reasons besides getting wet. Cool build though.
