- Witch Doctor's new Innate Ability gives him an item called Gris-Gris. It's a cool item that generates you money, but how long should you hold on to it? I've got some nerd math to help you determine the ideal timing.

Yeah not sure if it's worded the best. "Can only be transferred between Witch Doctors inventory and neutral slot. Can not be placed in the backpack, stash, courier, another players inventory or on the ground." under the expanded tool tip would be best.

Thats why i have trust issues. He clearly says, i cant do anything with it other than "Consume Item" yet it clearly says there, that indeed i could also "Lock Combining"

When ur behind in lane and need a quick lvl 6. Or..when you're ahead but the enemy seems to catch up.
I forgot to mention that using it between lvl 9 and 10 is really good if you're far ahead the exp boost is great but any later than that you may not even gain a level because the exp to lvl up is too big.

I just used this video tips and played some WD matches and it went wild. In most WD games I was able to consume the Gris Gris for a 15 min shard along with shadow amulet. Which is a nasty timing for WD. I also uploaded one of my WD videos in my channel following your suggestions. I should have mentioned you directly but I forgot. I will keep that in mind if I do another video with your suggestions. Thank you!
my assumption was "hold on to it until you need the inventory/neutral slot" and i appreciate you doing the math for why that is. as for facets, Cleft Death did not function how i thought it was going to, i still think it's neat though, but yeah Headhunter is just too nice early in the game to give up
Voodoo Festoration on lane with a Necrophos is oppressive.
If you swap heros in the beginning of the match with someone else, you can "transfer" the Gri-gri. Is it a bug, we don't know yet or maybe it was intended. As far as a Witch doctor goes. Id definitely save it for a Aghs no doubt, this is what I have been doing and it works great.
I played festeration doc as hard carry for fun. rushed radiance and bloodstone, had a wisp sup5 with spell amp by my side. it was pretty funny and we actually owned the lane and won the game pretty fast. farming speeds are absurd btw
From these I can assume that no matter what you assumption of these item is, you just need to know one thing for you consume it keep it. If your inventory space is occupied with essential item at all time you get it of it. If the game play style require you to man up and save your carry save it.
Wait to pop Gris-Gris until T 2 items… get lucky and get Philosophers stone. Seems good to me lol.

Technically, it's free money regardless. It only becomes trouble when you are six slotted. As an innate ability, it's average, could use some buffs (maybe 30GPM, Death cost + 20 + 1 gold per minute), but it's literally free money for a pos 5 / 4. It only gets in the way when you have to buy a dust or a quelling blade for sprout or monkey dance.

This is SO VALUABLE. If all content producers did something like that for the heroes they know/play best, it would make navigating the new patch so much easier.
Not sure if you’re answering questions on here, but I’ve a question this video reminded me of, especially since you mention buying shards in many other videos:
I’m slightly annoyed when I have to pay for my shard as support. Shards are free if you take the Tormentor. With supps usually being the lowest levels, at least one support can get a free shard from just one Tormentor, and obviously in theory you can keep doing that until your whole team has free shards. For a support player, that’s massive. 1,400 gold I can spend on something else - that’s nearly a Guardian Greaves recipe (or 28 sentries 😂). My point is, saving supports that gold benefits the whole team, but we need our cores to take on the Tormentor. Is it reasonable to expect cores to gather at each earliest opportunity and get the Tormentors? If so, what time would usually be good to start (appreciate it depends on hero selection and how the game is going, but just a general estimation). And finally, are there heroes whose shard is so game changing that waiting for the team to be able to defeat the Tormentor means losing out too much and you’re better off buying it before regardless?
(Disclaimer I’m a baby gamer and still in Herald, so I appreciate this will all just by theoretical if my team isn’t on the same page on this issue.)

I have 63% winrate on this hero and I hadn't even considered putting it in my regular inventory so I could use tier 1 neutral items XD. Also I think the talent changes to WD are a nerf because the aoe and cask bounce talents were the best by a lot and now you can only pick one unless the game goes super late.

I have a thesis that strategies that rely on your death (Warlock/Undying talent, Gris gris) shouldn't be your plan A. There are games in which those are important, but if you're surviving you usually have more impact than those talents
Agreed,I was pretty disappointed in WD's passive for that reason, I don't want dying to be needed to get the most out of it. The resulting amount of money is not much considering others passives aiding in getting kills and surviving will earn them more money as a side effect

Nah, a death is still time off the map, and it's still XP and gold for the enemy team. Perma-feeding still leaves you significantly behind, unless you're trading your death for a kill for your core on every one of those deaths.

You're still missing out on gold that could be gained (personally) from assists and kills, your absence from teamfights increases the likelihood that your team can't secure kills, or will even give up deaths, you can't rotate to punish dives, etc. Feeding is still punished because you can't contribute to anything on the map while you're dead, and remember: The enemy still gets gold and XP for killing YOU, so feeding puts them ahead of your team.
When i have my agha and my team is uncooperative to make tormentor, then, if my gris gris has 1.4k i use it to get a shard.
It would be a shame if the letter patch messed with this math!
essentially its a much worse version of the Alch facet which gives 250 gold immidiately.
TL;DR, if you can get a threshold item that will impact a fight soon.

Its not a facet, you dont have to choose between it and headhunter. you just get it as an inate ability

I can see a way where i itemize arcane glimmer shard and mby 1 more item and i keep the gri gri till min 30 np, i disagree (i think you overestimate the windlace in your build) .... on the other hand i don't play WD, so... you do you.
