Not being awake every day says that it’s just a matter of short days for him leaving. That was what happened prior to my mom passing, she slept everyday and only awoken 2 times in two weeks for just very short moments. He is blessed with a loving family being around him during this time. Prayers of when it is his time, that it is peaceful and surrounded by loved ones.
His grandson also said his condition barely changed since he entered hospice in February 2023. He’s had “a matter of days” for the last 16 months.

Prayers for Jimmy Carter
I met him briefly in the Philippines when he came out on a Habitat for Humanity build, and I helped work on the project. I also saw his wife Rosalynn Carter at the time. They both seemed to be really nice. Jimmy Carter gave a speech at the end, and it was very positive and uplifting. Best wishes to him. He has lived a long, good life, and he is still with us now.
There are so many reasons to admire Jimmy Carter. ❤

My father in law only lived four months after my mother in law passed. They were married almost as long as the Carters.
Yet, he soldiered on.
When his time comes, as it will for us all, he will be with Rosalind again.

Why? Is it because you think all of us are some big deal if we make it to age 100? This man cannot walk or even stand. He probably has painful bed sores. He probably can barely hear or see, yet you want him to continue to suffer a meaningless existence just so that he makes it to 100. Some of you folks mean well and your hearts are in the right place, but think about the ramifications of what you are writing. In an attempt to be positive and uplifting, you end up being insensitive instead.

You’re making a lot of assumptions about the state he is in. He’s got his beloved children and grandchildren visiting him regularly and when his body needs it, he sleeps all day. He’s not suffering from dementia so, when awake, he can have good conversations with his family, and he’s spending the end of his life in the place most dear to him. So who are you to label his existence “meaningless.”
You make a lot of “probably” statements about his physical condition, so you are aware you don’t have any facts to back up your assumptions. His grandson mentioned a conversation they had, so you can't make the assumption he can barely hear, e.g.
The idea he’s in constant pain from bedsores is also absurd. *Do you think the hospice workers are giving Former President Jimmy Carter substandard care? And as his family visits, they ignore this?*
The whole point of hospice care is to keep someone who is approaching death comfortable. There are ways of preventing most if not all bed sores for someone who is bedridden. If he does get any bed sores, they are treated to prevent infection and pain. Any other conditions that pop up would also be treated. If he’s in pain for any reason, he is getting medication or other treatments to alleviate that pain. If he reaches a point where he’s in constant pain he’d either be given one of those devices that allows a patient to self-administer IV doses of morphine or, if he would be unable to use that device, the hospice worker would just regularly administer pain medication at a level and frequency certain to keep him pain-free.
There’s 99% chance that he will die before October 1.

Reagan tried taking credit for it but in reality Carter's administration did all the work getting the hostages released. More so, are you aware Reagan used racist dogwhistles and religion to appease voters? Carter was a very strong president for having the balls to do what no other president did. He acted like a human being, not a suit.
His current status of sleeping more often reminds me of how my beloved grandmother made her transition. As my mother stated, "she slept her way into death." What a beautiful way to go.
Ironically, when I left Maryland for Tennessee for college, the last time that I would ever see her, she was asleep on the sofa. I didn't want to wake her.
When my mother called and asked about my coming to the funeral. I declined because I wanted to remember her how she was the last time that I saw her.
While tears will still come all these many years later, they are good tears from beautiful memories 🥲

When I think of Jimmy Carter, I think of a decent and honest man. I know that his family will grieve for him but I pray that they smile and realize he lived a long and fruitful life❣️

The former President has lived a very fulfilled and wonderfully long life and all that matters now is that the family makes him as comfortable as he can be as i imagine they are preparing for the end. He will certainly be remembered and celebrated more for his post-Presidency advocacy and charity work which covers over 40 years since his one term in office.

As a fellow vet, I salute James Earl Carter as a great American. He knows what being a Christian really means. He was a victim of being in the midst of an Arab oil embargo and Iran hostage event. Nowadays people run for political office to line their pockets. Service to America is not considered.

This man has lived a good long life for sure l imagine. He and his Mrs. have done a lot of good for themselves, their family, friends and their hometown including the nearby surrounding counties throughout Georgia. Quite the remarkable twosome. Folks need to use them as an example of what marriages are meant to be. All little boys can dream to become president l suppose...this one did. I live 44 miles from Plains, and l have joined in on many of their fun events they have hosted. The state of Georgia will always remember the generosity this couple has given to their community
A president with big heart and ethics. His presidency was unremarkable for a number of reasons, some of them having nothing to do with him. But his post presidency was epic. The best former president and role model for America in my lifetime. And I'm not even christian. A colleague of mine went to his church and said he was the kindest most devoted to society as well as his god that he ever knew.

This man is a hero of the African continent. In my country Nigeria he helped in eradicating the scourge of guinea worm, river blindness and other diseases through his Carter Foundation.
Other than that his foundation recruited and worked with thousands of Nigerians while giving them some of the best wages in the country.
I still find it a marvel that he's yet to be given one of our highest national honours.

He lives his life to the fullest, when I was about 13 years old in Thailand I listen to the news about him regularly and now I'm 61 and he is still alive. Great President.

When I was in the 6th grade before President Carter was elected, I had a teacher named Miss Cool. She was an older lady and a fan of Carter. I think she new greatness back then.
