    Thanks for this detailed review and your comments .. i think enphase has the best product .. lets face it you are going to be living with your choice for a long time .. enphase is the best to live with .. in terms of longest warranty . One app does it all , and biggest versatility …

    Hi Greg, I am debating between Franklin and Tesla Powerwall 3 for my 8.6kWh system. Based on your video and other research, I feel Franklin gives more flexibility and better warranty, compared to Tesla 3. What would be your recommendation?

      @solarbygreengreg  Před 3 měsíci +1

      I suggest having a local solarv company quote you both... and evaluate your needs .. both are great units but Powerwall 3 is for new solar you would need Powerwall 2 if going Tesla ..and yes FRanklkin better working with other brands inverters , ev chargers etc ...

    I’m considering a number of proposals for a solar system on my house. This is exactly what I needed! Easy to understand comparison. I think enphase due to the modularity, make up (LFP- safer), and resiliency. A couple of emphases batteries with micro inverters costs a little more but there are no single points of failure. I wish emphases could stack on each other for maximizing space but oh well. I was looking at generac batteries due to DC coupled and modularity but I haven’t seen anything new from them in a while and I am concerned they will be exiting the market.

    Hey Greg, I have to disagree with you. We have installed FranklinWH and Enphase and I find the Franklin to be superior.
    Currently the cost for the first FranklinWH fully installed is $15,000.
    Every subsequent FranklinWH is $10,000.
    $25,000 gets you 2x FranklinWH at over 27kW of power = $0.95/W
    The first Enphase 5p will cost you $9,000
    The second will cost $6,000, maybe closer to $5,000, but lets stick with $6,000.
    If you install 4x Enphase 5P batteries that will run you $27,000.
    $27,000 for 20kW of power = $1.35/W.
    That's a big gap in $/W.
    The 5P allows for a person to run more off less battery size, but you do not have the storage reservoir to run large appliances like the AC for as long as the FranklinWH.
    Both batteries are awesome and I have no qualm installing either, but when clients ask which is better I don't hesitate to say FranklinWH.

      I mentioned in video Enphase is most expensive per KWh storage I was very clear on this in conclusion part of video …. I also mentioned that Franklin and Tesla likely lowest although pricing always changing since I published in December powerwall 3 pricing not available yet… Your pricing on Enphass is higher than market … most installers charging $13k for qty 2 enphase 5p. Which is min qty I recommend if they want to run anything big …

    I disagree with wanting a smaller battery capacity. Why not get one large battery rather than having to go back and buy and install another battery? Plus the more power you have in reserve the better!

    • @gregm448
      @gregm448 Před 3 měsíci +3

      Well it’s nice when homeowners are willing to buy more capacity … but with each battery 13kwh over $10k+ with install buying another 13 kw is not in their budget or willing to pay to get a little more capacity …if someone needs 20 KWh is would be cheaper likely to get 4 enphase 5p vs getting 2 powerwalls etc 😊

    • @Nikky-io6yv
      @Nikky-io6yv Před 2 měsíci

      It boils down to cost. Many times getting 2 smaller batteries while doubling the number of circuits that are powered is more affordable. Plus it takes less time to recharge a smaller battery. Most people don't need higher capacity. It all depends on what is essential for your property. See Bronco Power Boost.

    • @sustainability8200

      You should rewatch the video and pay close attention to what he said about the advantages of the Enphase system. I looked at all of these and more ESS systems and I chose Enphase and it wasn’t really even close once you fully understand these systems. But most are looking for the cheapest route and are soon disappointed after they start seeing all the limitations and problems come up. This is not an area where you want to guess at. My 20kwh system was less than the Tesla system and a little bit more than the Franklin but far more superior in just about all respects. Hands down Enphase. I do it again.

    • @woohooivan
      @woohooivan Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@gregm448it is usually not cheaper as Tesla has their backup switch which reduces installation cost substantially. Wall space needed for PW vs 5p isn’t even comparable. 5ps take up a ridiculous amount of space.

    • @gregm448
      @gregm448 Před 2 měsíci

      @@woohooivan As mentionee in conclusion Enphase will be more expensive in most cases except if doing 20kW battery vs 2 Powerwalls ... Im a big Enphase fanboy -- and you outline many reasons in this video. It's about the resiliency, optionality, and peace of mind (warranty). Moreover, Enphase is an expanding platform incorporating generators, EVs and bi-directional charging, and ease of use considerations like load shedding. YMMV but I think Enphase is a great way to go

    We need a very big, ugly, heavy, safe, long lasting and inexpensive home batteries made of commonly available materials
    . A 50 kWh battery for less than $10,000 would store enough solar power to run the average home throughout the year. I’m in California where I’m paying $0.41 per kWh off peak. In the late afternoon and early evening on “smart event days”, I’m paying several times that. And, the prices we pay will only go up and up in the near future. The Chinese are selling whole cars with four times the energy storage of pitifully small and weak Powerwalls. Someone, please make us a big, ugly, heavy, safe and inexpensive battery! You will get rich and you will disrupt the entire electricity industry

    • @solarbygreengreg
      @solarbygreengreg  Před měsícem

      Pleaee listen I did not say smaller is better … simply that having smaller building blocks is more scalable you can right size the system better … for example if you want 20kWH of capacity with other options you would have to buy 2x 13.5kwh = 27 kWh. Vs enphase you can. Get 4@ 5kWH = 20 kWh
      This is not commercial for enphase as I said several times in video there is no one size / one brand for everyone … there are certain reasons why someone may get other brands … and this is why I’m listing comparisons for each option and same in conclusion … really I think all this brands are a good option .. just depends on features , budget , and job site conditions ie kWh usage , net metering etc

      @solarbygreengreg don't worry I got you 1:59
      Let's be honest. When someone switches to solar energy, having the ability to store that energy with a larger battery is always a good bet.
      Unfortunately, none of these options offer a good return on investment (ROI) in my opinion because they are way too expensive and Enphase is the worst of them.

    Not to toot my own horn or anything, but how did you avoid talking about service for all of these manufacturers? Have you tried calling enphase/tesla service lines? Enjoy your 30-60+ minute wait to speak to someone. FranklinWH's average wait time for service is less than 2 minutes (all of 2024 so far, I can share the data with you). I also agree with EVERYTHING said by @texasie8015. There's some other inaccuracies on the FranklinWH product as well. I'll let some of my colleagues chime in here.

      I educate homeowners without click bait or sales talk. No bias towards one particular brand .... depending on the home, net metering, kWh usage, budget, etc The best option is different for different homeowners.
      You can't say Tesla/Enphase ... these are different independent companies that are not affiliated. My video is about comparing the specs and features ...
      However, I have contacted Enphase and they have been excellent ... Sometimes you can get quicker service if you use the Chat support so try that if long telephone wait .. or you can use the call back feature ... Only have had a few problems with Enphase ie a failed micro inverter and they have been quick to replace ..about 1 week ...
      Tesla I heard from homeowners about non-responsive service from Tesla ... so I suggest getting Powerwalls through a local solar company instead of Tesla direct.
      Franklin is a good company as well which is why I included then in this video comparision ...
