- Please follow along on this simple build and find out why it was such a struggle to finish. I really hope some of you can relate to the struggle of this build and I hope it helps you with your future builds! Thanks for watching and happy modeling everyone!!!
It's nice to know I am not alone in embracing the messy chaos and opportunity that a dis-organised workshop brings :)
Thanks for watching Ben!!! I’ll spend the weekend cleaning so I’m ready to make the next video!
Your music alone already puts me in a good mood...!!!
That’s awesome!!!!
Get away Jason! I can still see slivers of workbench! If you think this maybe isn't your best work remember it's way better than most of us achieve, so it's still inspirational. Cheers
Thank you so much for the kind words Davie!!! I really appreciate it!’
Could be worse, Jason! Your basement could be flooded with tropical storm rains and flash flood waters... Your subscribers enjoy your artistic ability, with or without a plan. 👏
You are absolutely correct, I feel bad for those effected by that storm. Thank you so much for watching, I really appreciate it!!!
They say that a messy workshop is a sign of creative genius….well, at least that is what I have tried to convince myself! In your case, neat or messy, you are a creative genius!
Thank you so much Howard, I truly appreciate it!!!!
Wow! That’s how I work, in a mess with no plan! Jason..it came out great and that’s what’s important, plus all your tips and general happy attitude. We appreciate you. ☺️
Thank you so much Judy, I always appreciate it!!!! 😁
Ah I think we all as modellers have the same challenges. I reorganise my layout room and work room for the "last time" at least twice a year lol. Another informative video. Thanks.
Thank you so much for watching Ralph!!! I’ll be cleaning my shop this weekend! Happy modeling!!!
I am struggling to get motivated to be in my space also. I am glad to hear I am not the only one.
Thanks for watching!!! Hope it helped!
Did you say "Sci-Fi Modeling?" Years ago, I wrote the "StarFleet Assembly Manuals" (Trek kits), and made the "BUS" desk model prop for Coulson's desk (Agents of SHIELD). I also wrote the book: "Creative Effects for your Model Railroad". Add to that, the 6-foot, 1/29 scale UP 8500 Gas Turbine I made during the pandemic. You do great work, and you explain things extremely well!! Thanks for all that you do for the hobby!!
Hmm, been there, done that...if you get stressed and your attitude isn't right you won't be as satisfied with your work. Sometimes, as a kid, the model wound up "getting broke". The enjoyment just flew away. But you pushed through it and did a great job. 👍
Great build and more importantly, very valuable words of wisdom! Thank you!
I appreciate ya!!! 👍
Your workshop is great. I have a bit of workshop envy.
Thank you so much!!!
Hey Jason...
Love the build👍👍
How about doing a shop tour after the clean up.
I know myself and others could get a few tips from you to help us organize our shops to be more efficient in our modeling.
Thanks in advance.
Have a Jesus filled day everyone
Greg in Michigan
Thank you so much Greg!!! I’ll definitely be showing the clean shop in a upcoming video. I’ll try to give some organization tips. Thanks for the support buddy!!!
Hi ya Jason. I almost missed this one. A very interesting one, as it turned out. I understand the immobilization due to messy or unorganized work spaces. Thanks for bringing it to our attention. It was interesting to watch you break into your own tutorial and explain your frustration. But I knew even with your somewhat dissatisfaction with your build, it would still be a masterpiece. Thanks for the build and thanks for the public service announcement. I look forward to your 1/24 scale Sci Fi build update. Take care. Bye.
Thank you so much Norman!!! It’s always great hearing from you. Thanks for the continued support!!!
You need a VACATION from the hobby and you tube. With all that you do with other projects and still another to come with a kit you’ve been non stop. We’ll still be here waiting to see another exciting creation from that brain of yours. Get your workshop cleaned the way you want it then take some time off. My opinion though. Another great build as always Jason.
Thank you so much Kurt!!! I really appreciate it! You may be right on taking some time off. Thanks for watching buddy!!!
Wow, I thought I was the only one that had a work area like that. There is no excuse for me anymore
Thanks for watching John!!! I always appreciate it!
Your building looks great, as always. I am learning so much watching your channel. Thank you. I am almost finished watching all your earlier videos so can't wait to see what you do next.
Gorgeous building. Jason. Great job and very helpful. Mess always can be clean.
Cesar
Thank you so much Cesar, I really appreciate it!!!
Lovely building, well done! 👍👍
Thank you so much Phil!!!
Another great build, thanks for sharing it with us! - Paul @ The PLZ&W
Thank you so much!!!
It takes a couple of days after tidying up, but i like to get my clear work area down to the size of a postage stamp...
LOL, I know that feeling! Thanks for watching Danny!!!
Love the stucco effect. Good tip
Thank you so much Debbie!!! I really appreciate it!
I might be wrong, but I think you reversed the wall with the large door, at least it looks like that in comparison with the picture on the front of one of the kits. Great job!
Good eye Ronald!!! You are the first one to notice that 👍 Thanks for watching!!!
Excellent job Jason I like it.🚂🏆
Thank you so much!!! I always appreciate hearing from you!!
I love your work, I do understand your concern about this build though, it looks like a second floor 1919 house on top of a 1960s pebble dashed first floor.. just a little strange.
Don't worry I'll be following you forever.
Thank you so much for watching Paul!!! I really appreciate it!
Another great build.
Thank you so much Jerry!!!
Very nice build, especially like the texture of the bottom part.
Greetings Urs
Thank you so much Urs!!! I always appreciate hearing from you! Thanks for watching!
Good stuff, Jason. Please tell us how you built the stairs. Thanks.
Thank you so much Michael!!! Plastic stairs panted to look like wood 😉
Amazing! 2 in 1 it’s beautiful! Thank’s
Thank you so much Eugene!!!
I love how well those two structures came together. Good luck on the workshop. Not the first time you've had to do it.
Thank you so much Greg!!!
It turned out amazing but everything I seen you build is always amazing. I have learned a lot form watching your videos on how to make things look more realistic. We all get wrapped up in our builds and fall behind in our cleaning and reorganize our work shop. Thanks for sharing and be safe. 👍🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂
Thank you so much Ronald!!! Happy modeling!!!
Another great build, you always seem to add a reason to go to the work bench. Your work shop is a fine example of 5 lbs of dirt in a 1 lbs bag. I really liked your views on pre construction of a structure. Since I have joined your channel I have been using card stock, file folders, and other things that I would have never tried. Now many scratch builds start out as card stock mock ups. Thanks for the motivation to strive for a better project!
Thank you so much Will!!! I always appreciate your support! Happy modeling buddy!!!
Jason, we moved in our new home over a year ago and my model room is smaller. I don't have room for everything and its taken me a long time to figure out what and how to prepare the model room. Slowly I'm getting rid of things I've had for years and really working on cleaning and arranging my model room to where I need it to be. Thank you for reminding me why I haven't been building models.
'
Thank you so much Steve!!! Good luck getting back to building! Thanks for watching and happy modeling!!!
It may have been a struggle, but it still ended up a work of art.
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it!!!
great project, the best part is when you shared your thoughts and experience
Thank you so much!!! I always appreciate it. Thanks for watching and happy modeling!!!
Looks perfect!
Thank you so much Jim!!!
That looks great,
Thank you so much Philip!!!
I can do one small project like my tiny Tudor house, and my craft room looks like a tornado came through! I have to get back to my subway build, but I have to clean my craft room first! It's a disaster area!
It's good to know I am not the only one who struggles periodically to stay motivated...
This was a pretty simple looking build, so I am actually a little shocked that you struggled with it Jason. it looks perfect! Great build!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Lisa
Thank you so much Lisa!!! I’ll be spending the weekend cleaning my shop getting ready for the next build. Have a great weekend!!!
Fantastic video build...
Thank you so much John!!!
Thank you, also for your words around the 10 minute mark. I have always been a very creative person. I could design and make everything. I earned my money making decors and rent them out. I've been called the master decorator regarding Christmas trees. I even decorated 14 restaurants inside a huge luxurious cruise ship. And for a few years it just does not work any more. Where in the past I could make a stunning window display with stuff that has nothing to do with each other, I now can't even put the most perfect matching things together in a way that it looks nice. I am collecting a lot of stuff for my H0 building/weathering hobby, I am watching videos and visit layouts... but I can't seem to come to doing it myself any more. And it worries me if everything is alright with me. On the other hand I am living in a house that is a disaster zone for years (inheritance from parents) and I don't manage to get that under control. I thought it was due to the same reason I lost my creativity. Your words made me think and actually you make a lot of sense. I do think it's the current situation in the house that holds back my creativity. The situation in the house is due to stress and too long too much. I am a perfectionist and it bothers me so so much that I don't have everything stored and labelled as I used to. One leads to another. Luckily I have been able to throw away a lot and sort a lot of things the last weeks. I even repainted my hobby room, got a new desk and cabinets. In a few weeks I hope that the house will be at the level it used to be.Let's see if the creativity comes back when my work shop is all neat again haha. It goes way slower than a few years ago haha. Strange, at someone elses house I would need only two days instead of two years). Mentally too loaded I guess. Thanks m8. You're not only making beautiful things, you're a very nice guy too I think. Cheers!
Thank you so much for the kind words Alex!!! I hope you can get back to modeling soon. Start small and have fun. Thanks for watching and happy modeling!!!
I'd love to hear more about storage and organization. It's something I always struggle with as a collector/hoarder of crafting materials. Maybe there's a video idea there when you clean up your workshop? I know you talked about it before in some of your other videos, but an in depth look at some "best practices" or lessons learned via experience would be interesting. Just keeping dust off all my tools and materials is a headache for me.
Anyway, great work as always. Looking forward to the sci-fi builds.
Thank you so much for watching!!! That’s a great idea for a future video, thanks! Happy modeling!!!
Great video, as always Jason! Not only inspiring for the model building, but also for the other thoughts on the workshop and the ideal of learning something from each project, even if it is not perfect. I would LOVE to see a short video on the clean up process, too! Thanks for all the videos you do!
Thank you so much Ed!!! I always appreciate it. I’m sure I’ll do a shop video soon. Stay tuned….
Been there done that. I started cleaning my shop this evening. Good luck. 🍀🚂
Thank you so much for watching John!!! I’ll be cleaning this weekend! Happy modeling!!!
Another great structure Jason.. You know I get envious when I see the size of your workshop. The greatest motivational killer for me is knowing everything has to be unpacked and repacked after a every session. The perks of being at sea. I am taking a break from HO on my next project. I'm diving into 1/35th to try outsome new techniques that will further enhance my HO work. As you like to say 'stay motivated and happy modelling'
Thank you so much Garry!!! We all work with what we have. The important thing is to have fun! Happy modeling!!!
Great model, thank you for your helpful thoughts on model building, wait for your next video!
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it!!!
Jason,
Thank you again for an inspirational vidoe. Great build as well.
It is great to realise that you are human , the same as the rest of us.
Thanks for the tips on "getting back into it". I know I suffer from "artistic block" from time to time, and any and all tips are welcome.
Keep up the great work, and stay safe.
Michael
Thank you so much Michael!!! I truly appreciate it!!!
First: great build!!
Second: when you opened that door I felt a weight lift off me. I've been procrastinating for 3 weeks because my train room just keeps getting wore and worse. Every job I start stops because of some mistake or another. My last project was to move stuff under the layout. Inorder to do that you have to take everything out to rearrange. I got as far as moving a large shelf box that I keep all my house electrical stuff in. Haven't been up there in two weeks just can't figure where everything else goes-- another failure ( incomplete project) . Oh well, I have some incentive now , wish me luck.🤠🤠
Thank you so much Bob!!! And good luck clean. Once it’s clean you’ll be inspired to get back to modeling. Thanks for watching and happy modeling!!!
Thank you, that makes my work area look positively organized😁
LOL, thank you so much for watching!!!
Nice build Jason
You did good i
Thank you so much!!!
Hey Jason last time I cleaned up my workshop I couldn't find it. Man I truly wish those model's came in bigger scales. Cheer's John
LOL, Thank you so much for watching Johnny!!!
Yes you can, your workshop is great again!
Thank you so much!!!
Good job
I wish my mess was half as well organized as yours.
Looks great brother! Some day I’ll have as much room to work as you do! I’m jealous!
LOL, thanks for watching Lynn!!! 👍
Totaly enjoyed this video but how did you make the deck and the stairs, I have these two kits and would like to make the same structure for my layout. love your site and tutorlege please keep it up.
Thank you so much George!!! You can order wood from Northeasternscalelumber.com
I used plastic stairs painted to look like wood but you can buy wood stair kits from Kcworkshop.com
Hope this helps! Thanks for watching!!!
The only way I can find things is when it’s messy lol👍✌️
Thanks for watching Gene!!! 👍
"An uncluttered bench is the sign of a sick mind" Dean Freytag, Master Model Railroader #153 😉
Lol, that is true!!!
LIKE !! AN !! ORGANISED !! WORKSHOP !! TOO !!!
I may not have your skills at model building, but I'm definitely in the same league of mess making! T4
Lol, Thanks for watching!!!
i realy like it thanks man
Thanks Joe!!!
Hi Jason, in regards to the Foss Kits is that they don't provide their services to Canadians - Truely interested but no cigar OOPs
Very nice roof! What shingles are those? Mike B
I think those are from Besttrains.com
A question, why don’t you use the flip top caps? You always screw off the flip top and use a brush to get paint out. Don’t they work? I would think you got better control squeezing out paint from the hole in the flip top cap?
I like to be able to dip my brush in the paint if I need more. I find the paint dries in that small hole then it doesn’t work. Thanks for watching, I really appreciate it!!!
@@JasonJensenTrains ok! I just meant squeezing out what you need on a palette.
I understand. I use to squeeze out the paints and then the paint would dry in that little hole in the the top. I got tired of unplugging that little hole. I guess it just comes down to personal preference. Thanks for reaching out Jonas! Happy modeling!!!
Hello Jason,
Can you recommend any short films where foskit models, or the line have been featured?
Try doing a search on CZcams for Fos Scale Models. Thanks for watching Roland!!!
16:32 Chips Ahoy!
Where do you get your people you put on your models. I have a hard time finding people that fit the model.
I would do a google search for HO scale figures or try Walthers.com
It’s creative disorder, Jason 😀
Lol, that’s right 👍
How long did it take to built the entire model?
It took close to 2 weeks when it’s really a 3 or 4 day project. Thanks for watching Wayne, I really appreciate it!!!
As Al Jolson ! Said ! YOU !! AIN'T !! SEEN !! NOTHING !! YET !!!
Maybe !!! War ! Scene ! Diaramas ! Would ! Look ! Better !! Than !! Demolition !! Railway !! Buildings !!
