My heart aches for all you have been through and had to endure!! From CIPRO!! Thank you for the awareness. It’s too bad they don’t have a simple blood test to see if the individual can take this family of drugs. My 3 year old has been fighting a UTI for 3 weeks. I will not be letting the dr prescribe this family of drugs. She has been on Bactrim which I think worked but maybe needed a little longer prescription. Then we ended up back to the dr on Thursday they
put her on chepalexin. Then we ended up back today. Still on it until the culture comes back. What a blessing you are to whoever watches this. 🌟 You are a beautiful lady!! Many prayers for you!! 🙏🏼

I was hoping I'd find you, thank you so much for telling your story. I had a reaction to lupron shots, also with a black box warning. So many don't even know that's even a thing and it's scary.
I will pass this info on, I was prescribed cipro so many times for my bladder issues, and it was IC, not infection. I was lucky enough to find the tea in my name, that I advocate to keep safe and legal with many others.
I think it could really help both you and your husband if you research with an advocate. The Fda info is flawed, but they are taking their time correcting so google info cant be trusted. Makesure to find an advocate, we're all over social media 😊💗🙏💪

I’ve taken Cipro at least 5x over the last 15 years. The last time was 15 months ago. I couldn’t walk after taking it this last time. After 5 months of PT I can walk again. Every day walking is a struggle. It wiped out my thyroid, adrenal glands, damaged my lungs, gave me neuropathy. I’ll never know the life I envisioned. It has robbed me of my 20 year marriage, my intact family, my career as a nurse, the ability to do all the physical activities I loved. Just showering is exhausting. I spend the majority of my life in bed. Thank you, Talia. We love you.
That's scary bc it shows that you can have the bad side effects even if you didn't get it the first time, if you had it five times! I wonder why or what happened to make it worse the last time. It's true that antibiotics kill all bacteria and some bacteria is healthy and we need it. I am so sorry, I wonder WHY it does this is the question, and what can be done to repair your damage. I really hope you keep this updated. I'm sure you aren't the only one who had horrible results. It's of interest to me bc I have taken it and no side effects, but now...I know that fluouracil and fluouraquinones are used to treat various illnesses, and yes neuropathy is often caused by the quinones. But lung damage sounds horrible, all of it does really. I hope you are going to be okay.
@@nadiamccall4311 These are excellent questions, Nadia. I was injured from this drug, too, 2 years ago. The theory is that the toxins in FQs (and the flouride within them) never fully leave the body. They can damage our mitochondria with every dose. So when someone reaches their personal "tipping point" threshhold of FQs, the damage can come all at once (like for Talia and me) or it can come months later, even after stopping the FQ. The damage accumulates.
Do you happen to be an RN? If so, do you know what mechanism of the drug is causing such adverse effects? Or what factors increase the likelihood of adverse drug effects?
OMG, I am so sorry to hear this! I am so glad you could recover a little and walk again. Thank you for sharing! I am allergic to amoxicillin so I will be sure to watch out for cipro prescriptions too! I hope you are able to recover more! 🙏 ❤
Another horrible side effect it is notorious for is C-Diff which of course I ended up getting. I didn’t realize I had it for a couple weeks bc I had an undiagnosed GI disease & was used to having stomach cramps & diarrhea, especially after antibiotics, so it got a lot worse. I would’ve gone to the doctor before I did but the diarrhea was so bad I didn’t want to risk going in my pants around my then girlfriend and I was too sick to drive (I was young & in a new relationship with a gorgeous woman I viewed as “being out of my league”). What made me get past my fear of 💩 my pants was I couldn’t sleep for 2 nights bc of the dehydration & endless pooping which made me hallucinate. C-Diff is so bad taking a single sip of water is enough to trigger a bowel movement. I could feel the water immediately empty from my stomach into my intestines bc it’d start a spasm which then made a gurgling waterfall like noise & then I’d have at most 20-30 seconds to get to a toilet. I took 2 rounds of antibiotics that didn’t work then I took Vancomycin which thankfully did work bc back then they didn’t know about stool implants to cure C-Diff. I legitimately thought I was going to die during my illness. It is impossible to hydrate yourself even though it doesn’t make you throw up. You have painful diarrhea like 30+ times a day. About a year after this I got a bad case of food poisoning with bloody diarrhea & it was nothing compared to C-Diff. It felt like the equivalent of a minor sore throat from a cold compared to strep throat. Anyhoo what I’m trying to say is a lot of doctors either don’t know about most side effects or they don’t care. I’ve been prescribed Cipro twice since I had C-Diff & refused to take it which made them label me as a difficult patient so now I am treated differently by doctors in that network. Thankfully I found a great doctor who is in his late 60s & still works like how doctors used to work (& still should) instead of scheduling patients every 10 minutes & passing you off to a specialist doctor for everything (which they do to make more money & to pass off responsibility. All hospital networks in the US use this model now).
It’s really scary how badly people are being injured by big pharmaceutical companies. People are losing hope here!
I wonder if she was told it was all in her head and that she was a right wing nut who watched to much TV or believed things on the internet and she should have more faith because the company said it was fine and it worked.
The pharma company didn't do this. This was an incompetent doctor -- what he did was basically like seeing there was a spider on the bed, and ordering napalm of the entire neighborhood -- sure, the spider is likely gone, so is the dog, the neighbors children, your shed...
And if you have no money or a lawyer go pro bono or there is a class action you won't get a thing and they wont' even pay for your med bills.
Good idea please dont go to any doctors and dont use any meds!

❤A Nurse Practitioner fresh out of school ordered this for my mom. I mentioned to her that it was on the Bears 'do not take' list. She told me she was aware of that and was prescribing it, take it or leave it.
Irequested her not to be available to care for mom.

I’ve been misdiagnosed so many times by nurse practitioners that I no longer allow them to treat me. In some cases, a supervising doctor would come in to review the diagnosis and then would correct it. In some cases, the nurse practitioners would say my condition would subside and just to go home without any treatment but then the doctor would make the correct diagnosis and saved me from sepsis which could’ve killed me!

Now with the Internet I look up every prescription doctors prescribe. One doctor wanted to give me Farxiga for my kidneys. Know where I could find it was safe for type one diabetics. Researching more I discovered I just wasn’t drinking enough water. Took a year but my kidney test continued to improve. Went from 52.7 and now it’s 6.8.
sadly yes. Docs barely know shit about the stuff they prescribe. It's the PHARMACIST who fills you in on the real dirt, will tell you if there are contraindications, if it is a serious drug, etc. Docs really only prescribe but RARELY have had a clue about sides or possible complications. I found that out the hard way sometimes.
Black box warnings are for the docs to tell us about NOT for the patient
I was Floxxed in December of 2017. I had gone to the ER for an intestinal infection and was prescribed Cipro for suspected diverticulitis after a MRI. This was on a Wednesday night. By Friday morning--after taking 5 500mg tablets for a little over 48 hours--I was nearly completely paralyzed. I could barely sit-up, but could not walk. At all. Horrible, intense pain would surge throughout my body any time I tried to move. I thought I was going to die. I had to be hospitalized for nearly 24 hours, all the while being administered morphine. I luckily managed to recover without any seeming lasting effects. I can really, really sympathsize with this poor woman's terrible plight. It could have been me.
Did your doctors explain what the Cipro did to you?
I have NEVER heard of someone being prescribed Cipro for diverticulitis. It doesn't go away, as you know. It's parts of your bowel have been stretched into pockets which accumulate waste and cause inflammation. I can only assume it was prescribed for your resulting infection which is a real shame because a good doctor/nutritionist should be providing you with diet and lifestyle changes that minimize the risk of developing infections while living with your condition, which is not uncommon
I was also prescribed cipro for diverticulitis. It’s very common. You need to learn the difference between diverticulitis and diverticulosis. Diverticulitis is an. Infection that is sometimes treated with antibiotics. Diverticulosis is the condition of having pockets in your colon. Diet and lifestyle can help prevent the infection.
@@2degucitas No. Other than saying, "Oh-- you just had a bad reaction to 'a medication,'" the doctor offered NO other explanation to just how bad the Cipro poisoned me. I had to find out the difficult way--i.e. "do my own research."

What happened, is that I am a Type 1 diabetic who developed random abcesses in my ankle, then right thumb, in Sept.- Nov. of 2017. I was on other antibiotics for almost 2 months straight. Then by Dec. of the same year, I kept having nearly-uncontrollable diarrhea that NOTHING would cure, plus a low-grade fever. My primary care physician was so over- booked with a bad seasonable flu epidemic at the time, that his staff to me to go to the ER for treatment. Little did I realize how bad things were going to get for me . . .
My 25 yr old daughter was prescribed this a few yrs ago to treat a UTI. She took two days worth of the Rx. Cipro and stopped. She walks like a fragile 85 yr old from the horrible effects. I'm very thankful for News Nation for broadcasting this atrocious drug that people AND PHYSICIANS need to be aware of because apparently PHYSICIANS don't give a damn. FDA needs to ban this Rx.
We cannot BAN fluoroquinolones /quinolone antibiotics! That’s a naive and adolescent perception which is also an extremely dangerous one. Especially during a period of time where we are battling antibacterial resistant strains!It’s simply a tool that needs to remain available for certain or extreme cases of infection or sepsis that’s not responsive to alternative profiles! This notion that everything which is possibly dangerous needs 100% banned is a foolish one by an uneducated and irrational society. The issue is a lack of knowledge by physicians and failure of personal responsibility on behalf of the patients, caregivers or custodians to understand the the available treatments and dangers of substance they put into their OWN bodies. The dangers of fluoroquinolones has been well documented and publicly for over 15 years now! People need to be more aware or educated of the substance they take or are given and make educated logical and rational decisions on their own depending on their own unique circumstances. The effects of being floxed are not typically worth the risk, however those severe side effects are extremely rare. Most people whom think they where floxed, or are even told by a physician that they where floxed, are only showing symptoms of the original and common side effects. This is psychology amplified via the information and public awareness which is ironic as the people whom originally fought for recognition of floxing had been erroneously and unfairly accused of psychosomatic illness. True floxed individuals face sever and excruciating pain as their tendons continuously contract so severely that they often rupture! The first symptoms of being floxed is that your hands contract, curling into a balled up fist you cannot open along with curling of your toes and feet. This progresses untill you start tearing tissue off the bone. The hands curl so tightly their fingernails tare through the palms and into the bone. Then every nerve in your body beings to fire all at once as if your dipped into a raging fire. I’ve seen dozens of floxed patients and everyone of them first loses the functionality of their hands. Unable to hold keys or open the door. But even with the possibility of these ( fairly rare) horrific sided effects the substance must remain available to save the lives or otherwise better the lives of those patients whom may need them. Who are we to limit those individuals from life saving measures or the resources required to possibly better their lives? People also have to stop trusting naively in their physicians to the extent that they fail to research their own treatments and the chemicals they are given. There’s other more rational and effective methods to insure patients know the risks and agree to them without wrapping the country in Disneyland branded bubble wrap.

I’ve taken this antibiotic before and had a horrible reaction! Like the lady in the video it was given to me for a simple UTI. I could’ve easily done with a different antibiotic. Cipro made me feel absolutely awful. I experienced horrible anxiety, dizziness, fatigue, nausea, headache, achy flu like symptoms and just overall feeling unwell. These are all symptoms I did not have prior to taking the antibiotic. The only symptom I had prior to taking the medication was frequent urination and some minor discomfort that area. I was extremely confused at the time why I got so much worse after taking my doctor prescribed medication! I list this medication as one that I’m allergic to when at any doctor because I never want to be prescribed it again. Thankfully I’m fine as of today with no long term side effects from it. It was really scary though. I’m so sorry to hear this happened to this woman. I can’t even imagine. I appreciate her having the courage to share her story to make others aware. 🙏 Ever since this experience happened to me I’ve been very weary about antibiotics and do my research before taking them. I still want to know WHY I was given this medication for having a minor UTI with no complications.
I was prescribed this medication for Colitis. When I took this medication it made my chest hurt like I got beat up. My heart rate was through the roof I thought I was going to have a heart attack. It also gave me anxiety and I had panic attacks over absolutely nothing. Super scary stuff and the doctors don’t even tell you when they prescribe it. I didn’t know until I read the paper attached to the bag with the pills in it. It said “may lead to death.” I was like what the hell are they giving me. I completely believe this woman’s testimony.

I too had a bad reaction after my doctor prescribed Cipro. I got heart palpitations and then passed out falling to the floor. My husband almost called 911 but luckily I came to. I will never take Cipro ever again

I haven’t even watched the video yet, but let me guess It’s Ciprofloxin. I will never take that again. I have so much joint and muscle pain and I don’t know if I’ll ever be back to normal ever again. I wished I would’ve known I would’ve never taken it. It was an overkill for my situation.

That stuff is like poison. It can cause musculoskeletal issues for the rest of one's life even after just a single course of the antibiotic. I took a course when I was about fifteen, which was ridiculous. I NEVER should've been prescribed it. I would wake up and could barely walk down the stairs because I was so sore from that garbage and these negative effects never have completely subsided. And dear God, don't ever take the IV version. It's that much more intense and hazardous. Many users of cipro end up having fibromyalgia for the rest of their lives or a disorder that closely resembles fibromyalgia. And getting treated for legitimate pain these days is a nightmare. The medical system treats everyone but celebrities and the ultra powerful like they're criminals. This country is a freaking joke and no one is ever held accountable, including the doctors, health systems, and the corporations that manufacture these drugs.
My son was prescribed this for a sinus infection. It made him feel terrible so he stopped after about 5 days. When we looked it up I was appalled!
I had a similar reaction to Cipro in 09- 2&1/2 years of extreme muscle/tendon pain later, I count myself as one of the lucky ones.
@@alisonmcguffey5896the best remedy I found for chronic sinus infections was using a neti pot and adding a dropper full of colloidal silver. It cleared up and I have far fewer sinus infections now. When I used to get them several times a year and a few of them were quite severe.
Bless her heart. This is not her fault. This is the physician’s fault 1000%.

@@Omnihilo uh, I watched the video as well and there are risks with ANYTHING. Kids and adults who are allergic to animal fur/dander, allergic reactions to specific foods, deadly reactions to drugs and medications, ALL of life and what it consists of has risk. There are warnings on these boxes, however, I would agree that the patient did do her part in advocating for herself only to be misled by her doctor because there were possible alternatives. IF you're a woman who has always been prescribed a specific drug for an UTI, don't stray away from it. Continue asking for the same or similar one but don't budge on something new or different just because your doctor says to do so. There's a reason why you should always ask for the same medication, simply because it works. That should never deter your physician from keeping your health and safety compromised. As for life itself, there are all kinds of risks with these drugs. There are once in a million chances that something bad occurs, but often more than not, it would be considered rare simply because the majority of humans who have used them have gone on to be fine. You truly won't know until you find out for yourself and report back to your doctor about your symptoms.
Cipro is safe for some people and not others. Unfortunately, the doctor doesn't know ahead of time who will have bad side effects. All medications have the potential to cause harm to someone.
They gave it to my husband. As i aways do without fail i looked it up. I begged him to call and ask for something else. He wouldnt listen. He was fine. I was prescribed it for a bladder infection. I refused it. Got Bactrim instead. It made me sick. But nothing like her. I am so afraid of meds i have never taken before. Cipro that she took says it can cause tendons to tear A YEAR after taking it. That shot they were pushing. I had a gut feeling not to take it. We didnt and neither did a few people we know. But some we know have died. Turbo cancers , strokes ,etc. I will pray for her. God bless and help her. Sending hugs and ❤😢
Back in my day sulfamethoxazole (sulfa pills) was traditionally the drug of choice for urinary tract infections it turns your pee orange - you can drink tons of Cranberry juice as well to achieve the same effect. Better yet - get fresh cranberries for 100 percent natural to get off of Big Pharma meds. Guarantee it will clear it up.

I was on Bactrim for a few days after I got a laceration that tore my achilles tendon and got SO sick off it. I had to discontinue after 2 days. Went on something less strong and was fine. Antibiotics can be crazy……
If you are afraid to take drugs please 🙏 pray and ask Jesus to lead you to a Natura Path. Or pray for healing. Jesus works miracles.
I was prescribed a medicine that had a black box warning that it could cause massive sudden heart attack… I asked my NP if she thought this was the right drug for me given my family history (my dad died of heart disease at the age of 30, one brother died of heart disease at 44, and another died of heart disease at 50. And all of my maternal uncles have heart disease) and she told me that “the benefits outweigh the risks” - the risk is that I would die. I did not take the medicine.

Oh my goodness! The SAME thing happened to me! I was prescribed Cipro for a UTI and on day2 when I got up from bed it felt like I was stepping on a pebble. I wiped my foot and went on my day. Day3 I got up from bed and felt like I was standing in shards of glass stabbing my foot up my ankle! It was SO painful and scary I couldn't walk. My husband had to take me to ER. Got xray they saw nothing. Went to PCP who ordered MRI and there saw a tendon that almost ruptured! Back to PCP he kept asking if there was anything new I had taken and the ONLY thing was CIPROfilaxin! He researched the med to find out that in some cases this would attack the tendons in body. That I was "lucky" it didn't attack the tendon on my heart! Thank you God for Your protection! I had to use crutches to walk while also wearing a boot and do PT for anout 4-5 months! It was horrible! Hopefully you got some compensation for your injuries. It's unlikely though because the American government does everything in its power to protect corporations and the ultra wealthy. This country is one big joke and it pains me to say that.

Palliative care is usually for terminally ill patients. It keeps them comfortable, fed, and any medications they need (IV fluids for hydration). She's a hero taking care of her disabled husband.
This happened to me too. I went in for a UTI and when I asked the doctor if there was a way to avoid taking the Cipro he cut me off mid sentence and barked at me: NO. you're taking this. 3 pills later i was on the floor of my apartment in agony, nerve pain and convulsions. I didn't have medical so i waited it out. I honestly thought I was going to die on my floor. Mine was not as severe as hers, but I spent the next year trying to chelate the heavy metals in my system with magnesium supps and bone broths. Took a year but got better but have joint issues all these years later. Had read that Cipro is given to women for UTIs, and then years later they're diagnosed with fibromyalgia, without us really being able to make that connection. That doctor SHOVED this drug at me, and I'm betting he got a kickback for it.
OH! And the punchline is that he had me take it before test results even came back. When they did come back, after I took the Cipro that hurt me, I got a call saying that I would have to come back in to take another antibiotic. I hung up the phone and haven't been back to a doctor ever since. I'm prepared to die in my home before seeing another fkn doctor. Something tells me I'll live longer by avoiding them.

Im so sorry this happened to her. It's awful. My son took some meds, and it trunded toxic. And he pastaway. That night in his sleep. He was 29 years old. I miss him so much. I don't understand why they don't do away with such bad meds.

BUT cipro for a UTI is ridiculous overkill.
@@PhrontDoor Some uti bugs are only susceptible to Cipro. I believe a patient should be able to make that choice for him or her self.

I am allergic to penicillin, amaxocillin, and the like.
Cypro is the only drugs I can take take in this class of antibiotics.

Because many milder antibiotics, no longer work.
This antibiotic is very effective against anthrax and some other aggressive bacteria. It is not meant to be used when there are other options.
It’s a really cheap generic now. Nobody is making tons of money off of it like that. It’s just one of only a few available antibiotics that are good at treating uti and upper respiratory tract infections. If you have a sulfa allergy you are almost out of options for urinary tract antibiotics. Levaquin is better for respiratory like bacterial pneumonia but it is a fluoroquinolone too and can also cause tendon rupture, arrhythmia, psychosis, etc.

I was given Cipro back in 2010 for a UTI so bad I was peeing blood and almost passed out from the pain. I’m so grateful I didn’t have serious side effects. But I did get horrendously sunburned while on it and couldn’t figure out why because I never get that sunburned. It was so painful, peeling skin. Finally saw it in the small print of the medication leaflet that it was a side effect.

I developed a sun sensitivity from an antibiotic as well. It lasted like 3 years. I even burnt my eyes on the sun!! However, if you're peeing blood, cipro might have been necessary in your case. I had pneumonia so mine were definitely worth the risk at that point
Yes it was commonly and regularly prescribed to multiple people for numerous reasons at high doses and prolonged durations before the first few floxed patients caught hard for recognition by the medical community. The originally known side effects where harsh but nothing compared to the rare few whom became floxed. Those people wake up the next day with all their tendons pulling all hard that they often rupture! They wake up with their hands fully contracted so hard their fingernails dig to their bone. Their feet curl under massive tension. They have constant cramps / Charlie horses in their hands, calf’s, and feet. Their nerves all fire at the same time like soaking in the flames of fire. It’s a pain that no regular person could comprehend. Today many people claim to have been floxed but simply suffer from the normal Sid effects of the drug combined with the psychological effects of knowing about the risks of quinolone antibiotics

I too was prescribed Cipro for simple UTI and I got heart palpitations and then passes out. Did not take anymore cipro. Will never take it again.

Why would they prescribe Cipro, such a strong antibiotic, for a UTI? I remember it was used for those in touch with *Anthrax!!* There are so many milder effective antibiotics for UTIs. *It's even restricted in Europe* This is negligence at its worst!! This poor lady 😢
Cipro is indicated for advanced urinary tract infections such as pyelonephritis. It’s efficacy when used thusly is highly noted. Unfortunately, so too are it’s side effects.
Yes! Cipro was used to treat anthrax. There's other less dangerous antibiotics that can be used to treat UTIs. I was prescribed Bactrin to treat a UTI years ago.

My oldest son was Floxed by Cipro along with Flagyl and hasn't been the same since. I am his caregiver. He hasn't been out of the house in 3 yrs, he is tube fed and his thought process aren't the same. He has had problems with low ejection fraction heart failure, chronic pain.

I was prescribed a medicine by a Dr in the ER. The nurse refused to administer the medication , telling the Dr it could prove fatal, after she read the package information. She saved my life. I got to thank her recently, not mentioning the Dr, to protect her..

My doctors stopped prescribing Cipro to me several years ago. I asked why and they said something about side effects. When it first came out it was a miracle antibiotic for people allergic to Penicillin.
My spinal cord Dr use to prescribe it to me all the time. Then they stopped out of no where and started using something else.. You would think they wouldn't give this medication to someone who already has major nerve problems. Thank God you and I didn't suffer from any bad side effects
The prescriptions stopped because, about 7 years ago, FDA put out a safety advisory about permanent disabling damage as a potential side effect -- that's after a lot of people complain and campaign about extreme side effects for years.
A friend of mine only took 2 pills and is now in a wheelchair = CIPRO is horrifically devastating for many people.

It’s a well documented dude effect that many of us have been trying to inform the public about. The details of truly floxed patients is so horrendous you cannot imagine. It happens rapidly and often never dissolves. Their tendons constantly contract and so hard they commonly rupture! Not one tendon on their body but all of them. They’d hands ball up into a fist so tightly their own finger nails dig to the bone. Every nerve In their body fired at once like being burned alive. It’s the most painful experience we know of.

Omg! I had a doctor ask me if I had any other concerns once when I was at a walk-in clinic for something else. I mentioned pain in my heels. He asked about meds and I said I was on Cipro. STOP right away, he said very alarmed. A known side effect! I would never have put the two together and I’m so lucky I even mentioned it!
Talia, I am sorry for your plight. I was on Floxin for a sinus infection in 1995 or1996. I almost suffered a tendon rupture in both calves. I was so fortunate that I realized that my inability to walk might be done to the Floxin . I hobbled over to a bookstore and sure enough these side effects were already listed. That very week the Minneapolis Star Tribune had an article about this very issue. I am shocked that it took that much longer to issue a Black Box warning.

Working in a retail pharmacy for years has taught me too many doctors know nothing about the meds they prescribe. The clinics get kickbacks from these drug companies, so all too often their doctors are basically following the protocol given as far as what to prescribe for what symptoms based on that. I have seen some of our pharmacists take the extra time to explain dangers like this, but not enough people want to hear it, they just want what their doctor gave them and be on their way. They assume it wouldn't be on the market if it was dangerous.

I also know someone who had a reaction to this class of antibiotics. She did have something more severe than a UTI, but she wasn't warned. She ended up with a painful nerve condition where sometimes her extremeties become red and sting like they're on fire. Many people with it say the pain level is a twelve. The government needs to do something.
this sounds like neuropathy which can be very painful, like the feeling of frostbite or dying nerve endings -- it really does hurt. Shingles also has this effect. Neuropathy is really common with people who get radiation for cancer...and one of those meds involved is FLUOURIQUINONE. So this makes sense.

Whenever you pick up a prescription from the pharmacy, you should read ALL of the paperwork that comes with the prescription which reviews side effects, contraindications (aka specific conditions or meds that the medication should not be taken with), etc. And also ask that same question (re: side effects amd risks) to the pharmacist when picking up the prescription; pharmacists are more well-versed on side effects of meds than most doctors, as that is their focus/expertise.

Mine was blank! Completely blank! I wasn’t warned by anyone. It’s never the patients fault. It is 100% the fault of pharma, the fda and drs. They all know how dangerous these drugs are. This medication SHOULD NOT exist!
I took this medication for a few days and lost all feeling in my hands and I was a brand new mom! I want to say it was about 3 weeks before I had sensation again; but it was during that time of constant numbness that I did not know if I would ever have feeling in my hands again. It made me question if I could live without the ability to feel my hands. It was awful, I couldn’t do anything because I couldn’t feel my hands.
Not long after I regained sensation in my hands, I became very ill, like this gal. I lost 80lbs, slept all the time (still constantly tired) and felt awful. I have since lost my appetite and eating food is really hard. It’s essentially the sensation of having just ate a meal when it’s meal time, I’m not hungry, yet I know my body needs the food, I just don’t have any interest. There is a disconnect in my brain that doesn’t send the message to my brain that should say “feed me!”. I struggle with food now, it’s become my arch nemesis , in that my day revolves around if I’ve been able to eat. Snacking on the few things my stomach allows is about all I can do most days.
I never would have thought my abdominal issues were from that horrible incident of taking cypro, but this article has me wanting to know who/what kind of doctor to see to see if I was poisoned by this antibiotic?

I've learned to always look up side effects on my own. I directly asked my doctor about them for new meds I'd be starting (not Cipro) and he's like "they're safe". So I trust and I take them. After a week, I start having weird things happen to me. I look up the drugs and discover that they are side effects I was never informed of. It would have been nice to know before it scared me when my hand went numb suddenly. Apparently numbness and tingling in the extremities is common. My husband also almost shattered his teeth because he was not informed that one of his medications could change his sleep cycles, making the one in which he grinds his teeth at night longer. He had to go to the dentist repeatedly for 3 months to try to resolve the issue and was even scheduled to have surgery to remove part of his jaw before part of his bone that had broken off came out on its own. All because of a medication he was taking.

My husband was just seen for a severe sinus infection. Luckily I have heard of this and requested he not receive an antibiotic in this group. Our GP said he quit giving these out almost a decade ago, not worth the risk. Why does he know this but so many other are still handing them out?

I’m so sorry you are going through this, it just breaks my heart… I’m familiar with this as well, not for myself but for my dog. She was an otherwise very healthy dog with a UTI and was given a generic fluoroquinolone antibiotic. Within 3 months, all of the tendons in her feet had ruptured, she had to be euthanized. Drs are not being made aware of this serious side effect and I fear it’s happening far more than we realize. Thank you for getting the word out 🙏

My dogs were floxed too. My little shiatsu tendons tore, his knee caps came loose. He had insomnia and would pace all night. My other dog a large mix breed, she now has mcas and is allergic to all meat. She breaks out in hives and vomits uncontrollably. It’s heart breaking! Vet fqs have different names one is baytril! Don’t ever let your dog’s have a fluoroquinolone. Ever! It’s hard enough being a long term floxie myself but my dog’s they can’t understand what’s happened. They suffer so badly.

There are situations where fluoroquinolones are the only option, but only as a last resort in life threatening situations. I wish there was some kind of test to know who is going to react badly to these drugs, it feels like Russian roulette…

These horrific adverse reactions are not rare! I developed FQAD after being prescribed Cipro for symptoms of a UTI in June 2020. I also was floxed in October 2023 - went to ER and was diagnosed with diverticulitis and was given TWO antibiotics - Cipro 2X per day for 10 days and Flagyl 3X per day for 10 days - still dealing with the side effects 6 months later - I am seeing a Functional Medicine doctor to see if he can repair some of the damage done - I have hope that in several months I will see an improvement. I just cannot sit here and do nothing - who wants to live like this forever? May I ask, have you done any treatments to help you with your issues? Hope things get better for all who have been floxed.

I was flooded back in 2017. I was given it by a naturopath for an ear infection both via a pill and drops in the ear. My face and limbs went numb. Luckily after a year the numbness went away, but how devastating for this woman!
I was on cirri for a UTI and had a floxing experience. I was sooo dizzy and absolutely couldn’t see in the sunlight, it was like strobe lights when I went outside. Then I did a deep dive into this drug and was horrified to learn it’s been taken out if the Canadian marketplace.
I just got chewed out from my GI dr because I didn’t want to be on PPIs long term. I was shocked she talked to me that way. She said there is nothing she can do for me except give me pills. Legal drug dealers.
For readers' clarity: PPIs are a class of drug called Proton Pump Inhibitors that reduce production of stomach acid and Rx'd for GERD/gastro-esophageal reflux disease.
Do your research,- there is lots you can do. Baking soda elevated bed, etc
Pepcid is not a PPI that I switched to because PPIs can cause bone density loss. It does not always work as well so I have to take Tums with it but I have to take them for the bone loss anyway.
Yes only found out about PPIs when I saw a new doctor. Same thing with Singulair. And there were class action lawsuits that happened or were in progress over these medications. Never knew about any of them until after the fact/too late.

I’ve been suffering from the nightmare effects of Cipro for 18 years and counting. It gave me super painful neuropathy, detached retinas, hyperacusis and tinnitus. The toxicity is cumulative so even if you have taken it before without a problem, the next pill could be devastating.
I’m allergic to Cipro. It broke me out in hives, so I am very fortunate to have a doctor that knows how to treat my UTIs.
My daughter was prescribed BACTRum a sulfa based medication. And in 2 weeks it just broke her down to where she got full Steven’s Johnson syndrome and had to be treated as a burn victim.
@@seriejohnson698 I am also allergic to sulfa medication. I found out the hard way also it’s really hard to find medication that helps you when it comes to antibiotics. It broke me out so bad I had to start taking Benadryl and go to the ER. So that leaves I think one or two antibiotics I can take for a UTI which I get all the time but that’s another problem. I hope they found your daughter an anabiotic that she can take without her breaking out like that but I was also I was right there almost I felt like it was burning me. That’s why I started taking the Benadryl then went to the ER. Did they ever find anything for your daughter?

So yes a dr is needed, however one should make informed decisions with their dr and read all paperwork that comes with the meds. All meds have side effects.

That being said, my statement still stands. If you leave every thing regarding your health up to doctors, they will destroy your health. The single best, fastest acting, most effective thing I've ever taken for UTIs is uva Ursi. Bar none.
Problem is I bet the doctor pushed it and didn't even warn or gave the patient any options. They just quick to make a buck and get prescriptions out the door with deals they made with pharma reps. Please sue the doctor or hospital... at least they will be responsible for the cost of your 24/7 care.

Come to find out,I’m allergic to fluoroquinolones and I found out the hard way. My lungs closed up and I couldn’t breath.I winded up in the ER and 3 days later I had an heart attack.I’ve never been allergic to any antibiotics so I would stay away from this family of medicine. It’s a good idea to have an EPI pin on hand when prescribed a new medicine.

I had a UTI while early in my pregnancy. The doctor prescribed Cipro and omg my VAG swelled so much. It was painful to touch and I was so confused
I stopped immediately! I called the doctor and went in to get looked at as they figured it was some kind of allergic reaction.

You never should’ve been given cipro while pregnant. It is highly dangerous not only for you but your child. Fluoroquinolone adduct to your dna. They don’t leave the body. Our Fq science group ran a small study and everyone had the adducts. Then they tested children born to floxies and the children had the Fq adducts! Your dr did you and your child very very wrong.
How can we get ahead of this? I’m guilty of just offering myself up to dentists and doctors to do the best for me, when these days, it doesn’t seem to be the end goal. It’s like we’re all just potential collateral damage
You have to take your own health/life into your own hands or you will wind up disabled or dead these days. Consider the people lazy who do nothing to find out more about their own health, how to maintain it and how nature effects it - there is plenty of information out online or find an advocate of natural medicine to help you.
I would add, recognize when you’re being gaslighted and walk away from that doc for good.

In 2015 the FDA themselves did a study that showed Cipro and the like worked no better than a placebo for uncomplicated UTIs, Bronchitis and Sinusitis.

@@pegasus5287 yes I've seen that in my own mother. Because Levaquin was a significant factor in the suicide of my late wife, I still would not give these to my mother. Every infection should be cultured to establish the correct antibiotic. Cipro and the like should be reserved for the things they were meant for like Anthrax. They should not be available to doctors to to give out like candy.

Interesting I was prescribed this medication for a uti as well. I didn't take it, I made them change the antibiotic to keflex. Just one google search told me cipro was very dangerous. Especially if one has tendon issues already. It is terrible that this happened to her. Nobody should take this med. I'm glad she's speaking out. I wish her strength and healing.
Wow, super scary and sorry this happened to you. I’m a T-4 paraplegic and have taken Cipro several times in the past. Very fortunate I had no adverse reactions. Thanks for sharing your story.
Damn I’ve taken cipro multiple times all went well. It’s so strange how people react differently.
My uncle has taken it too and nothing bad happened to him.
I use Amoxicillin for infection related illnesses as the first defense. It works for me most of the time. If not I will step up to Z pack. Try cipro once and had severe diarrhea. Never again.
OMG, Cipro! I was given this once by my doctor and had terrible side effects (nothing this severe, thank goodness). I called them right away and told them to note my chart to not ever prescribe it to me again. Years later, that same doctor's office tried AGAIN to prescribe it. I said nope. Find an alternative. Seeing this poor woman's story now, I realized how lucky I got to not have had worse. I pray for Talia's healing.

I was floxed while active duty in 1999 for a sinus infection. I developed burning pain throughout my body for years. Was given a medical retirement out of the military. I lost my career and health to this drug. No one ever linked it to cipro. But it is now on my allergy list with all my doctors.
It is always important to read the warning labels as well as doing research on any drug one is being asked to take. I never simply take a doctor's word on something that important anymore.
Wow, Wow, this is my go to med when I have a UTI. I never had an issue with it.
Most people do OK, then they notice little pains or twitches or twinges of anxiety or rumbling in their tummy and then the next time they take it, BOOM! Some people drop dead on the first dose. Each pill is another round of Russian roulette. Look up natural treatments, there are many. Good luck!

I decided to follow my instinct after watching your video and not take the chance with that medication, just wanted you to know that you are making a difference and people (like myself) are paying attention.
