Hard to think a 1.9 tdi engine, would go 2.6l/100km, combined cycle.

a Prius vs Miles, who can go the farthest on a set amount of fuel.
In the city a Prius because of the regen braking and stop start system that favours city driving. Out on the Motorway or in the countryside Miles would beat the Prius as all the advantages it has in the city would be of no use and the hybrid system would end up a dead weight.

so miles does 113mpg? lol
Good point, clearly there must have been some fuel left in the tank, which couldnt be drained easily
Well you can drive it woth 3.5liters for 100kilometer ive done it.
@@peterzingler6221 However the first few miles the engine needs to be warmed up, therefore consuming much more fuel. There are many things to take into consideration like elevation change, wind etc, but i think 25 is not possible to do with 1 litre and a cold engine
One other thing to consider is with a near empty tank there is a lot less weight in the car
urbex2007 they run the engine dry, nothing left in any rails, even if there was, it would be mills not litres.
They're were probably driving around 45-50mph which would be the most efficient for that car.

I was at a petrol station a few days ago, the diesel was cheaper than the petrol. Glad to see diesel being phased out this quickly
That's just seasonal the demand for desel hearing oil used in much of the northan hemisphere is low in the summer and people burn more petrol on trips in summer. It will change once it gets colder.

“£1.36. You can get a litre of diesel with that.”
In August 2022: “are you mad??”
The 1000 mile with one tank of fuel challenge should be easy. I drive a similar 1.6 litre Octavia combi and I often get 1500km on one tank of course with some left in it. So if you don't screw it up and use backroads with a lot of coasting, like I drive, you can definitely do it.

People always talk about sediment at the bottom of a fuel tank. Can you actually open one up and prove it?
Daniel Wilson
People are idiots, the fuel pick-up is always on the bottom of the tank, otherwise you'd run out of fuel on a full tank.
Diesel tanks can rust due to water and algae can grow in tanks.
Yes, you can find actual sediments in a fuel tank. Older vehicles with metal tanks will often have rust flakes. The modern plastic tanks will eventually have particles of various trash
czcams.com/video/Te3Siaq9kKY/video.html
@@Robert-cu9bm Yes if Diesel is left to sit in the tank for too long algae and other nasties will grow in the fuel but if the car is in regular use this will not happen as the diesel will likely never be more than 1 month old.
What's happening with the Honda Prelude??? Been ages since we've had a video. Also, good to see Miles again.
First video of u watched but had to sub right away :D I love your harmless humor
4:59 what it's like to drive the through bradford
Agreed 😂
I’ve got to say that’s one fuel efficient car. 25.8 divided by 1.1= 23.45 And since the conversion for litres to gallons is 4.546 23.45 X 4.546 = 106.6 your car somehow did 106.6 mpg
Yes, 106.6 matematically but in practise, it is like around 85-95 depends how you drive ofc. I have Octavia 1.9TDI 66kW ver. If u know what 66kW has, rotation fuel pump or what it is called, driven a lot, mine has 360k and this rotation pump never had a single problem. There is also other type of fuel transport and that is called PD or Pumpe Diesel or Pumpe nozzle i dont know exactly but this type gives you better performance, torque and feeling from the ride but it gives you higher consumption which is like 4-5L/100km but it can be driven to suck even less fuel also. In Slovakia we have most of the roads " hilly " with goood slopes and my best average consuption was 3.5L/100km which is really, really good. I drove 1377km with one fuel tank fully filled to the brim but it was mostly on highways and countryside roads outside the city.
YAY! More miles! Can you please make a video where you go on the Nuremberg ring again with the new specs, just to see if he will make better time.
Or maybe commit to making Miles into a racing car or something?

Imagine using Miles in 2019
“Suck up all the sludge from the bottom of the tank” except the pump sits in the bottom of the tank and is always drawing from there.
Some of it will float in the diesel
And cars have fuel filters for that exact reason..
@@forresttm fuel filters aren't magic, if the tank is full little bits of sediment will go into the filter at a time, when it's low big clumps could go in at once and it cant handle that happening too often.
@@RWoody1995 Complete BS. There is no magic level where different sized sediments reside. Fuel tanks are generally extremely clean and most fuel systems have pre-filtering screens in the tank.
@@DiscoFang i didn't say anything about different sized sediments, i said big clumps (a clump meaning multiple little pieces), it's pretty basic really, example: make a cup of coffee notice all the bits of coffee powder floating around in it that didn't dissolve into the water? of course you don't, for every 100ml of coffee you consume you only consume a small amount of undissolved coffee powder because most of it sinks to the bottom and whats left floating in the top 90% of the cup is say, 5% of the total amount. drink 90% of the coffee and then when drinking the rest you start to notice it as the remaining 95% of the powder comes into you all at once. The same thing happens in a fuel tank. The filter can easily manage that small 5% being fed into it over the course of its service life, but give it everything in the tank at once and it's not gonna be happy in the long run.
Of course in modern cars fuel tanks are cleaner as they are plastic, but it is a different story for older cars with metal tanks which rust slightly over time as trace amounts of water get into the tank over the years.
Sorry but Ethan's a legend
I was getting low in my Vectra and almost at the garage, although still had 30 miles left on the computer, as it was on a downward hill it cut out, as the fuel sender was out of the fuel.
