How do you not? I understand wanting Izzy to blow up more with double champ status, but there will be plenty of time for that later. We have a champion and a rightful number 1 contender that earned it the hard way and every step of the way they were counted out. I’d rather see Izzy rematch Rob for now so we can see the battle of the underdogs for the 205 belt. It would be so dirty to deny Glover that title shot when he’s on that kind of run at that age. Give him the title shot!

I personally would just do Jones x Izzy now and avoid one of them getting knocked out in a higher weight, if Izzy really wants to fight a light heavyweight striker first like he said give him Johnny Walker or someone else he has a 95% chance of beating and let the division flow

Looking at Glover’s record it’s weird that he’s only had 1 title shot. 3 of his 4 losses in the ufc are to gus rumble and jones. Those 3 are some of the best LHW.

Well Thiago Santos almost KO'd glover twice.... With just one punch each.. So I understand the +200 but I don't think Vegas expected Santos knee to still be too weak to even try to kick Glover off of him

@@abdulkarimelnaas7595 except Francis is the only guy who is the same league as rumble so that is not an accurate comparison. Also Francis weighs 265. Rumble and thiago are relatively the same weight, both are knockout artists, yet thiago is nowhere near rumble in terms of power.

I just thought it was way to soon since Thiago was learning to walk again he needs some more time to get that explosive power he is really good at using
Easy to say in hindsight. We all knew Glover had the potential to win, but so did Thiago. We saw both have success and Santos could have just as easily had his hand raised. Did you not see him hurt Glover both times he found an opening? It just makes Glover’s win all the more impressive. He showed insane willpower and determination to fight through two of Thiago’s onslaughts and prove how much he wants it. Especially with everyone writing him off because of his age and already crowning Santos the champ because of his fight with Jones (sounds familiar) and the fact that he already beat the current champ.
@@brandonpanozzo86 Santos was still very explosive and had a huge speed advantage over Glover. I don’t see how having more of an advantage there will make a difference if he couldn’t make it count in the first place. Face it, Glover just had a much higher fight IQ and an obvious grappling advantage.

At the time I heard a story the he went to California with a tourist Visa and never left so he became an illegal immigrant. He got to come back to Brazil and wait a couple years while fighting in Jungle Fight to get the his Visa back again and start his carrer in UFC.
He 'stubbed his toe' against Gustaffson. Glover actually showed a lot of heart, grit in that fight. It went a lot further than it should have.
After seeing what he did to Anthony Smith I was excited to see him Sat night, I hope they give the number 1 contender a well deserved title shot!

The "Mir Lock" wasn't against Taveras (but you are thinking about Traven btw). He beat Pete Williams with that hold. That is one of my favorite submissions off my back. Nobody ever expects it. I first saw it watching that fight in about 2008.

I like watching Glover's fight with Gustafsson every now and then because it was the first time I saw Texiera fight and though he got owned most of the fight he just wouldn't back down until he got backed down. Always thought he was one of the toughest fighters I'd seen, hope he gets a shot at the title.
Yeah it hurt watching that fight, but Glover just kept coming forward til the end. Gus is toast now.

I think the all American vs Izzy would be a very interesting stylistic fight. He is very similar style to kelvins and kelvin has been the most effective so far. Wiedman got a way too go for sure but I’d like to see that fight. Or if wonderboy could put a couple lbs on that would be a great fight.

Regarding Glover's visa issue, the problem was that he did not have one.
He first went to US illegally.. He flew from Brazil to Mexico, waited a couple weeks on the desert, up until the right condition to cross the border.
In US he started training martial arts and after six months had his first mma fight.
I believe that after the Sokoudjou fight, Dana met him and offered a UFC contract. However, to sign the contract he needed to get a working visa. So, he went back to Brazil and applied for a working visa, which was denied, because he admitted that he lived illegally for a couple years in US before.
During the following years, he fought in really small events in Brazil, making barely enough to eat.
Glover just got his visa a few years later, because his wife sent a letter to an US senator, which after reading it, talked to the American consulate in Brazil, making them apologetically issue his visa right away, allowing him to go back to US

Glover vs. Jan & Stylebender vs. Bobby Knuckles
Makes sense because if Stylebender beats Bobby Knuckles again, what's next at middle weight? Some folks coming up, but nothing imminent. That's when you go to light heavy. On the other side, give the actual light heavies a shot first, particularly since it's a 41yo fighter that has definitely earned his due by way of his win streak, not to mention his legend status.
Jan doesn’t want to fight until March, Izzy wants to keep a busy schedule and fight every three months if possible. I say Izzy vs Glover in a 5rd non-title bout at LHW in Jan over mcgregor vs Poirier.
If it was up to me, I would bring Glover in for a title fight against Jan next. Perhaps sooner than most would expect.
