  • Sensitivity Labels are super easy to use. There's a button inside of you Microsoft 365 Apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc...) where you can set the label.
Your team simply asks themselves "How sensitive is this content?" and pick the appropriate label. That's it. You can even set defaults for content globally or by Teams/SharePoint site.
There's not much to it really. With the right labels, you can make it super easy for your team to manage and protect that sensitive information they use every day.
Checkout my previous video on how to create a default set of sensitivity labels in the Compliance Centre.

What happens when sharing confidential data with internal and external users?

Depends on the policies you set. The label itself does noting, but you can use this in your DLP (Data Loss Prevention) policies to raise alerts, monitor, or block content with these labels.
For example, you can block Confidential files from being shared or emailed externally. And with EndPoint protection you can block these files from being transferred to a USB key or even printed.
